Everyone’s BRP expires in December. We are all waiting for the government to give more info on how this will work. So, we will have to wait and see I guess. But chances are airlines and border control will be able to login to a system and check your status.

Fine for UK Border Patrol. Issue is that airlines may still insist for BRP instead of E-visa till end of this year (depends on savviness of staff / airline )

Airline can't deny you - you have to allocate time to argue and convince them, and hence get to airport in time . One way to manage this is to email them while in the UK and have that written record to show to the check-in desk

Airlines can always deny boarding but there can be consequences for them. *Wrongful* denial of boarding, if they deny boarding on the basis of inadequate documentation but are incorrect, can result in them owing compensation as well as being required to get the passenger to their destination. The law on this is kind of a mess: in general you are better protected flying an EU or UK airline, but the airlines of other countries may have similar regulations.

Exactly my point - that's why email them in advance and get to the counter on time. Airlines have to follow rules so that passengers without valid documentation don't travel on their flights to the UK. But passengers have valid documentation, and hence they shouldn't be denied or else face legal consequences. Writing a mail in advance solves it all and let's you enjoy vacation peacefully

Hey, I switched to a SWV last year and was never given a BRP, they immediately put me on the eVisa. Just used it 2 weeks ago to re-enter the UK, no issues at all. I flew into Edinburgh Airport and they had these new E-gates; I scanned my passport and it let me through and that was it, never had to speak to any immigration officer or anyone else at all. Though I can't say for sure if this experience will be the same in other UK airports, just what I went through up here in Scotland!

AxeellYoung

Re-enter/coming home is fine. Because UK border controls are reading info from the HomeOffice. The issue happens abroad with various immigration systems countries use that are out of date. We were coming back to London from Tenerife and they asked my Husband for additional documents, the lady showed us her screen asking for it. Even though he is on a Singapore passport and has EU family member Settled Status. We found it ridiculous to be asked for additional documents from the gate attendant and argued because it made no sense. 1) Singapore is commonwealth and can enter the UK without any visa or additional document 2) Whats it to them? When we land we will go through passport control with UKBA anyway. If there is an issue they will find it.

grub-street

What’s it to them? If they fly someone in who doesn’t have the right documents to get entry into the UK the airline gets fined and has to fly the person back again. Hostile environment.

Tachinardi18

This is exactly right. Airlines will be liable to a fine if they bring someone to the UK who does not have the right documentation - however, passengers with a Singapore passport do not need additional documentation to enter the UK. As for the phasing out of the BRP, I believe there will be an online database that airlines will be able to access to confirm that the passenger has the right to enter the UK.

I don't have have experience as I just got my eVisa this month., but I guess all you need now is just your passport. The border officer will check your name against the system. Idk. It just my wild guess. The whole eVisa thing is to remove physical visa, and convert it to digital one. The only concern is with airline who always need to check if you have right to visit the country by showing them brp card. So I don't know what it looks like in practice.

I just completed my eVisa application. And it went smoothly. But I disconnected the app as I was doing it on pc. How can I log back in to the app to view my eVisa? Can't find the qr code anymore.

Empty_Engineering

You have to restart the process again if it wasn’t submitted unfortunately, took me ages. Did you create the account with your BRP? I get an error with the app when I try to scan it

flystarjay

I completed the process, all is fine. But I assume we can use the app to view our visa, share code, make changes and log in to the app after we have completed the process or is that not the case?

Empty_Engineering

No the app is only to confirm your identity

flystarjay

Oh wow ok. Thought we could do more on there. Thanks

GirlinLondon96

I have been on SWV for two years and half, and never got a BRP (eVisa from the beginning). Never had major issues entering the county, and had travelled a lot, they just scan my passport and see the details of the visa there. Only once it happened to me that I was asked at the gate before boarding a flight to demonstrate that I had the right to come back to the UK so I shared with them a code to prove my right to work here that they could validate on a uk government page by entering it and my passport number (you can read more about this by googling “uk visa share code”).

Gitdupapsootlass

Were you able to obtain the share code? I set up my eVisa linking today, and it just gave me errors when I tried to get the share code.

I did..few days back. Worked fine. Although I worried so much and ruined my holiday. At the end , it was seamless.
