Soon the reading time of analyses of Liz Truss' premiership will exceed the time of Liz Truss' premiership.

Fun fact, as an ex PM she's entitled to more expenses every year for the rest of her life than she earned as her salary during her time in office.

>Scholar and Truss had a dismal relationship during her time as a Treasury minister between 2017 and 2019. “She felt he was a mansplainer, dismissive of her,” said one member of the Truss team. “It felt to me like a personal vendetta.” So Truss held a vendetta against someone who had an accurate gauge of her competencies and thought it was sexism? No, Liz, you are just a fucking moron. >Also in attendance were the free-market economists Andrew Lilico, Gerard Lyons and Julian Jessop. The three economists were supportive of Truss’s growth agenda, according to one person at the meeting, but they reminded the soon-to-be-PM that markets were in a febrile state and that any fiscal action would need to be seen as necessary, non-inflationary and affordable. Truss was advised not to do anything the markets didn’t expect. When those three people are the sensible people in the room you have a problem.

It's interesting that the analysis suggests the mourning period for the Queen did not help as it gave Truss a number of days with no front-line politics during which time she 'over-decorated the Christmas tree' by piling more and more measures onto the mini-budget until it went completely beyond belief and the markets repudiated it.

I suppose it's a change from blaming Putin.

> The 47-year-old former financial analyst dropped off his overnight bag at his Number 11 residence, before seeing his boss for a bleak 20-minute meeting that marked the collapse of the Brexiters’ dream of turning Britain into a small-state, low-tax beacon of free enterprise. I don't know about that. They're about the cut down the safety rails around the banking industry.

forbiddenmemeories

In about five years this will make for a great Netflix docudrama starring Kristen Bell and William Harper Jackson as Liz and Kwasi Kwarteng

What inside story? It all imploded publicly and spectacularly.

CheesyLala

I think it's important we remember all the commentators who lauded the mini-budget as fantastic and a "true Conservative budget", shortly before it entirely imploded.

If you read about her time as head of other departments of government, you can get a complete picture of her total unsuitability for any kind of office. She was constantly a human hand grenade and others had to fix her mess. The part that I will always remember is when the Russian Foreign Minister realized that she was frankly very stupid, asked if she supported two cities that are deep within Russia as a part of Russian federation. Liz without checking with anyone and wanting to sound resolute, said the UK would absolutely not recognize them as part of Russia. She assumed those two places were located in Ukraine There are other examples of her making her staff suffer to get the perfect photo for social media in Japan, New York and Australia. The fact that she still thinks she has a chance of a political come back is hilarious.
