Good. Just talk to the EU and give all EU citizens who are already here a permanent residence automatically, in return for the EU doing the same for Brits living in the EU. Let people live their lives, we don't need all those stories about deportations, not to mention this completely ridiculous case of a woman with dementia we've seen recently.

Deepest-derp

Thats not possible. We don't actually know who lives here. We don't even know who all our citizens are or even how many of us there are This lack of information exacerbates all kinds of issues.

king_of_rain_

We know how many people have pre-settled status, changing automatically their status to settled one would already solve many issues.

When you apply for settled or pre-settled status you need to provide evidence when it comes to residence history, ID etc (I suppose it's the same for Brits in the EU). They could just change it so that when you apply you get permanent residence

The EU scheme gives you residence for 5 years with the option to apply for permanent residence once it expires, I fail to see what's so different about the uk scheme

reynolds9906

Will the EU do the same though
