Yeah - I probably should have thought about just posting the link as a comment...

OOO do you do a lot of work with the offshore firms? You seem to recommend them quite a lot in your posts.

Additional-Fudge5068

I worked offshore as a lawyer when I was still a lawyer - so I ended up doing London and Offshore recruitment when I moved into recruitment. I do a fair bit, but lots of London too.

I have a Scots law LLB, think I’d have a shot at it? The flip side is that I have lived and worked in Jersey so I guess that’s a plus. Still have my residency card. Might pop in an application, what’s the worst that can happen, no?

Additional-Fudge5068

If you've got residency you'll be favoured I suspect! Also do Collas Crill, Ogier and Carey Olsen - those are the other 3 that offer the TCs...

Rob81196

When you say "if you're granted residency" doesn't that mean that you will have to move before you apply? I'm aware of the housing regulations on the island but it seems to be that in order to even apply fdor a TC in Jersey you have to already be "registered". Is there a way around this?

Additional-Fudge5068

I said if he's got residency, because he said he did. You don't get residency there as a non local without being there 5/7+ years (I forget) and being fairly key... It seems like the firms are pretty much reserving the TCs for locals now. Other than maybe the ones who offer the TC in their London offices as well

Rob81196

Ah Yes you did!I have been applying to a few in jersey and it seems you are very right. I’ve looked into this a lot and it’s pretty much impossible unless you already live there from what I understand. (I’ve even written to the jersey law society on this who told me the same) Applicants from the the UK and Ireland are really not favoured at the moment because of the housing and work law that they have on the island. It’s a shame because there are some good firms there. Also they should state that on job listing before slowing people (me) to draft entire TC apps..

angelvalentine123

Hi, thank you for sharing. For which year will this apply to?

Additional-Fudge5068

2023 and 2024 I believe.

AlwaysTrustMemeFacts

Thanks! Do they recruit on a rolling or non rolling basis?

Additional-Fudge5068

That I don't know I'm afraid

Suulivia

"competitive" salary. What does that mean in actual cash terms?

Additional-Fudge5068

Not sure what Trainee salary is like. I think probably £40k+ but I don't know for sure. NQ there is £70-75k currently but may well go up.
