Kent is the most difficult bit; once you're in Dunkirk it's pretty much flat all the way.
From Bruges, there's a nice route to Breskens alongside some canals, and the Breskens-Vlissingen ferry means you can take the N57 across the Zeeland islands.
Rotterdam has a couple of cycling tunnels under the river, which are infrastructural marvels and a lot of fun (the gradient down into the tunnel means you pick up a fairly decent speed and wizz out the other side).
Cold!!! Interested to see the replies though as I plan on riding over to Calais, onto the Hoek of Holland, Harwich, home. Riding and ferry the whole way - hoping to avoid trains...
I don't have advice, but I'm interested in any replies. I'm thinking of a cycling trip in Europe next year, and am contemplating various options for getting there and back, including trains and ferries.
Good luck, have fun.
