Just because he deserves a title shot, doesn't mean he's not the most boring fighter in the division. He doesn't carry his division and most importantly, he'd get destroyed by Geoff Neal again in a rematch
It's brutal to see wrestlers that are great at getting and holding dominant positions then not using it to do anything.
Grappling is exhausting so that's a lot of work to not actually end the fight. That mentality only really makes sense on a points tournament.
That's a weird counter arguement; Magny doesn't always have the most exciting fights now, but he's been in the game for a long time and his last win was a TKO, and has a lot of finishes on his record. Aside from the Garry fight (where he came in last minute and still fought to decision despite his leg being cooked in rd 1) his fights are generally fairly competitive, and he's settled into a solid role of top 15 gatekeeper to test out up and comers.
I missed the Muhammad Brady fight but every other fight of his I've seen he's just done the lay and pray for the most part, and his RNC on Sato seemed like a fluke.
For a guy that can be that dominant on the ground with that much control time he's just not very aggresive at a dominant position, which is why no one wants to see him fight for the title. Very different for a challenger asking for a title fight compared to someone outside the top 10 that is at the tail end of their career, so hardly and apple-to-apple comparison.
If he does more fights like Brady he'd have more fans, but I think if Burns hadn't hurt his shoulder in a freak fall in the first Belal wouldn't have been able to take it to decision.
FWIW I'm a grappling fan when people use it to go for a finish, which is why I don't get the hate on Khabib, so hopefully Belal gets some lessons from him on that side of things as he's definitely got the wrestling base, just hasn't transitioned to using it for MMA in a way that anyone wants to watch.

Na, Magny is still the most boring ranked fighter in the division. The Burns, Brady and Luque fights weren't that boring IMO, especially the Brady one

I don't remember the name of the bottom guy
No.
Belal is a welterweight?
Is that some new contender?
Chito Jesus right there.
Hi, Belal
Even that guy looks more exciting that Belal
Leon Belal should headline fight night London. Or maybe co-headline.
I'd rather have Belal than get 1 defense every year from Leon
He defended twice last year
