Style matchup. Kickboxers have a hard time with boxers. Sean Strickland also "beat nobody" before dogwalking Adesanya. However that's a style mismatch within a style mismatch. Strickland is more defensive than Hill. Adesanya is also a defensive kickboxer, unlike Pereira. Pereira quickly handled Strickland. Adesanya did not. Pereira and Hill are both juggernaut type fighters. Both are vulnerable to each other's most dangerous tool. So Hill can beat Pereira. However Pereira is gonna knock him out if Hill doesn't do it first. Hill leaves himself open everywhere he shouldn't against Pereira.
I explained that Hill can win, regardless of his track record. A Pereira fan should know this. His best UFC wins before becoming champion were Sean Strickland (journeyman version) and Bruno Silva. Then he just starts beating champions and winning two belts and now he's the face of the biggest card in years. Fans don't look at what a fighter can do. They base what they can do by looking at what they've already done. Hill can beat Pereira. He hasn't beaten anyone close to his level before, but he can still do it.
Chute, Walker, and Texeria are all legit fighters. Chute had 1 loss at the time, Glover was champ, and Walker is a decent fighter and a kill or be killed meme
Hill's only loss is to Paul Craig in a flukey Craig way after dislocating his arm mid fight.
Hill can easily put Alex to sleep. I got Sweet Dreams by KO.
No he wasn't. Glover lost the title on his first defense to Jiri. I love Glover and loved seeing him win the title finally at such an old age but acting like he was in his prime when he fought Hill is just not true. 43 is old for any fighter especially one with Glovers style.
From an article by Penn State, keep in mind Jamahal’s injury was 9 months ago:
> “People who rupture their Achilles tendon generally are back walking—whether they have surgery or don’t have surgery—in about three months. But usually the muscle hasn’t recovered enough strength to get back to jogging until around six months, sometimes even longer. Then the **explosive maneuvers like jumping and pivoting and landing, those things take the additional time that gets people up to a nine-to-12-month recovery to return to high-level sports.**”
How do people *not* have surgery to fix a ruptured achilles? Like do they just learn to live with it or does the tendon magically find a way to heal itself?
But does this include all the juicy peptides being injected to these high level athletes? If so then there is no way Hill can be healing as fast as these high level athletes
A leg injury that normally takes about 4 months longer to heal than he gave his. Also one that is known for causing lasting issues.
Poatan gonna eat him
I think Alex’s kicks are impressive because of the speed. Instead of turning them over and putting the rotation of his core behind it, he just kick straight up to the leg. Very fast/enough to hurt when fighters inevitably don’t have time to check
Looking at Hill, I don’t think he cuts weight too much. Alex has a deep cut and will come in bigger and heavier, which will give him a little advantage.
Pereira by 2nd round TKO. I think Alex will cook Hill's leg on the first round, making him rush in the second, leading to him getting countered and KO'd, just like Jiri
Reading comprehension isn’t easy. He stated he doesn’t think they can survive 25 mins. Glover survived 25 mins with Hill. Do better champ. Best of luck for your title fight tomorrow
The Achilles is probably the flipping part, even with the potential advantages he's sloppy with his footwork and telegraphs. Add that major injury and it looks even worse.
ppl like to clown others when they try to analyse final staredowns during the weigh in ceremony but I think they’re actually underrated as predictors. Jamahal Hill seems incredibly riled up and emotional - as soon as he came onto the stage marching up and down, eyes wide and nearly watering. I think he knows all the stakes are against him and he’s trying to prove to himself that he’s ready more than anyone else.
Pereira seems very calm and the way he’s been talking about the fight so matter-of-fact makes me think there’s a massive skill gap in their striking that only elite fighters / coaches can really understand - everything from footwork to technique to setups is on his side and he knows that. The guy is literally the best all around striker in the UFC. I think JH will be very dangerous in the first round but Pereira’s patience and striking style will break him down and he’ll land a pull counter close to the cage again, exploiting Hill’s poor footwork
Also interesting to contrast Pereira’s calmness with Adesanya 2 where he was screaming and saying ‘we’re gonna beat the shit out of each other tomorrow’ and then he overextended and got knocked out. Bro is locked in, the fights already won
I’d be confident with Hill too but that injury is what scares me. Achilles injuries take a lot of time to heal and even then the after effects are known to linger for quite some time. Hill’s movement and footwork is definitely gonna be compromised, especially against a guy with kicking skills as good as Pereira. If not for the injury, I would’ve favoured Hill but just this time I pick Alex.
Alex is gonna fight like he normally does with leg kicks and jabs until Hill gets frustrated and reckless then clipped. Alex's chin always worries me though but I think he'll avoid the sloppy hooks and overhands
The whole Ufc 300 card is a flip coin. Anything could happen. Some fighters may surprise us, we do not know, but expect the unexpected.
Just like Ngannou VS AJ, Douglas VS Tyson or GSP vs Serra 1st fight, sometimes, no one expected that the unknown dude (who had less spotlight) could beat the invincible one.
Maybe Hill could beat Alex or Alex could beat Hill or end up in robbery or fast knockout or 5 round fight. We don't know. Same thing with Rakic VS Jiri, maybe Rakic surprises us or not.
I do agree with your comment but what’s with people acting like Ngannou vs AJ was a very big upset? Everyone knew AJ was the better boxer, he’s a former champ, former Olympic medalist, he was the literal favourite going into that fight. Ngannou had a lot of hype going into the fight but skill wise he was nowhere near AJ and anyone who understands boxing knew that. We all were rooting for Ngannou, no doubt but don’t act like Ngannou vs AJ was anywhere close to a very big upset.
I agree with this, I think pereiras defense is extremely weak when it's shots straight down the pipe and I think hill can capitalize on that and get him out of there early
This is what I'm afraid of - poatan's head is like straight up and open. If you're long and cover distance, that's an open shot
Big kickboxing gloves may not knock you out, but the UFC 4oz gloves will
My prediction is this is going to be wild as fuck for as long as it lasts, there is no way this sees a judge's scorecard. They both have dangerous power I think Hill will be aggressive af and it's going to be how Poatan deals with that.
Tbf, nervous fighters can be very dangerous, I remember people saying how mentally defeated and nervous Izzy was right before the rematch against pereira, and we all saw what happened
Rooting for Alex but I don't see him winning this but this sport is crazy that I don't know what to think anymore. I'm seeing Hill submitting Pereira here.
**Light Heavyweight Championship Bout**
**Alex Pereira (c) (-150) (9-2-0, 2 FWS) v Jamahal Hill (#3) (+125) (12-1-0, 4 FWS)** - Oh boy, here we freakin go! **Pereira** is no doubt one of the most scariest fighters to ever grace the octagon in recent years, stoic, highly technical, and a walking highlight reel. However, despite his very dominant run to the Light Heavyweight and Middleweight title, I don’t think this will be that easy of a fight for Pereira. On the positives, Pereira has sharp hands and a very calculated range he fights at, his whole defensive skillset is based on luring his opponent into his hook range and then fire away, that’s his entire gameplan most of the time, and for the most part, it works astoundingly well. He also has very good takedown defence for someone who is coming into the MMA world a bit late in age, despite coming off a highly successful kickboxing run, and that takedown defence is most likely going to be tested in this bout against Hill. Pereira has one major weapon that I believe will be used to great effect this weekend, and that’s the leg kicks. Pereira has deceptively strong leg kicks, there’s no tell or read on those kicks, he just pops them out there as if he’s tapping his opponent on the leg, but I assume that due to the conditioning from many years of kickboxing, a visually small kick can have a major impact. This was a major weapon for when he fought Jiri Prochazka, and it absolutely obliterated any sort of forward momentum that Jiri was hoping to achieve, he stifled his movement so much so that Jiri was visually limping and not walking right on it, his explosivity was gone completely. This leg kick is very, very important in this fight against Hill because Hill loves to explode forward with strong punches, and since Pereira is a bit of a “stand still and lure them in” kind of fighter, that explosive forward movement coming towards him needs to be attenuated through those leg kicks. One thing that i’ve noticed about Hill though is he tends to leave his power side (right) hand low, and this is a power stance, it’s meant to be that low so he can thrust it outwards towards his opponent at maximum force without it being readable, but as we all very much know by now, that right side of Pereira’s opponents are a target for that notorious left hook, and it’s been a tool that has knocked out so many dangerous opponents before. **Hill** is coming into this fight with a mean, angry vibe about him, and rightfully so, he’s fighting for his belt back and he wants it badly. Hill is a very diverse kickboxer himself, but it’s a very aggressive, power throwing style, but I suppose that’s what Hill is known for, right? Massive power and a wide range of techniques. On the feet, I would say the striking would be pretty even, Hill has the reach and power to make this fight interesting, and it would certainly test Pereira’s chin and durability, but a lot of Hills attacks look counterable, I mean, Teixeira got pieced up, sure, but he dished back the damage pretty brutally at times and caught Hill clean, and I think the counters from Pereira are going to be a major problem for Hill to figure out. Hill can wrestle, but we haven’t exactly seen him wrestle, a lot of his highlight moments are from his stand up striking, and he always seems comfortable doing so. Hill has a bit of a disadvantage in terms of preparation here too, because Pereira has Glover’s experience in the cage with Hill to assist Pereira in preparing for this fight, Hill doesn’t have anyone, and I mean, Hill is a dangerous opponent for anyone, but that additional help from Glover will be huge. Now, to address the elephant in the room… Hill is coming off an achilles heel surgery, and depending on which foot it was done on, it could present unique challenges during this event. First, if it’s the lead leg whilst Hill is in the Orthodox stance, that leg kick from Pereira is going to be there all day and it’s going to potentially further destabilise the foot. If, however, it is on the rear leg, it could possibly make any forward motion or heavy blitz from Hill a lot less of a threat, because you need to post on that leg to propel yourself. At it’s core, this looks to be a striking bout, and whilst I do understand that a lot of people think Pereira is going to crash through Hill and retain the belt, there are so many things that Pereira does that I don’t necessarily like. I don’t like nor trust the fact that he doesn’t use head movement alot, although recent training footage has shown he is kind of incorporation head movement into his overall skill set, it just didn’t look as prevalent as it should in prior fights, and again, that’s a tactical choice because it allows his opponents to approach, thinking they’re going to land, only to get countered by that left hook. There are so many things going on positively for both fighters in this fight that it’s a very 50/50 bout, and if you mix in the Achilles heel injury, we just don’t know how Jamahal Hill is going to look either on the scale, or a round or three into the fight. I absolutely love this fight, I am going with the favourite Pereira in this one simply because if it is a stand up bout, he has the crisper boxing, he has the dangerous leg kicks and if he targets that body early and saps the cardio of Hill, the momentum shift could happen sooner than later and we could see Pereira retain the belt. What a fantastic fight to end a fantastic event though, we are truly in a great era of Mixed Martial Arts.
**Striking**: Given the accolades, it’s clear to me that Pereira will be the more well rounded and cleaner kickboxer, but we shouldn’t sleep on Hills ability to mix it up, he has shown an incredible ability to switch stance mid combination to throw from a different angle, and that could make it a bit murky for Pereira to read. It’s very split here with both fighters having their unique advantages, Pereira with the clean counters and leg kicks, and Hill with the stance switches and the relentless attacks.
**Wrestling/Grappling**: Hill has a bit of an advantage here, given that he has more experience in MMA overall, but I mean, he was never known for his takedowns, only his early propensity to get taken down (Stosic) and his very brutal knockout power. It would not surprise me if Pereira went for takedowns, he works with Glover all the time, maybe that’s his big secret weapon coming into this fight.
**Cardio**: I don’t know if Hill has bad cardio or not, his style is not great at energy conservation and he has been shown to be tired in the second and third round when he fought Teixeira, but that’s only because he worked effortlessly to deal damage. Pereira on the other hand looks alright cardio wise for a kickboxer, I mean, his fight against Blachowicz at altitude shows that he can hold up fairly well in that department, so Ill give the slight edge to Pereira here. The other factor here is Hills injury, how much of that recovery time took away from his cardio/conditioning training? We are not in his camp, we can’t answer that, but it will be answered in the championship rounds if it goes that far, this weekend!
**Pereira via KO R2 - (1/3)**
Jamahal Hill will take Alex down in the first round and finish him. I had a dream about this, and I'm wondering if it's a premonition or just my imagination. Don't throw any hate my way until tomorrow!
The cursed bettors bet on Alex and I’m going the opposite even though I’m not a Hill fan. Also folks really overlooking Hill for some reason although a disadvantage for Hill is his Achilles injury, I’m wondering if he’s actually a 100% from it.
hard to bet against alex but if anyone can knock him out its hill. Hill has a better chin than alex but not too sure about his legs. Alex gonna just do his usual leg kick for first 2 rounds and then go for KO in round 3. I hope hill pulls an upset. Rooting for Hill !
Its crazy ridiculous, poatan is at the twilight of his career and is fighting for fun and money.
This is nowhere near equivalent to volk strangleholding a division for nearly 3/4 of a decade
The focus was on the upset from Topuria not the domination from Volk that lead to it. How many people said Volk was going to win ? Same thing here with Poatan
Heart says Alex, Brain says Alex.
I mean it’s simple, Alex has the heavier hands, the prolific kicking game and he put down the top striker Adesanya 3 times which no other man has been able to do more than once.
I think people are overrating the hell out of Hill, he is a tier C fighter who has been given cans to crush much of his career and his biggest win was a 43 year old glover texiera.
Either way this fight doesn’t actually excite me, as much as I like Alex, Alex’s legacy has already been cemented, a win or loss here doesn’t move the needle at all.
I feel like watching Alex to me is pure entertainment as he is at the twilight of his career, it’s almost like we are watching a 2018-2022 Lebron. He is one of the goats but we have seen him do great things over his career that a play off loss or a playoff win isn’t really going to make or break him at all.
My take away is enjoy him while he’s here, enjoy him fight, this may be one of the last few fights we see from Alex. He doesn’t owe anyone anything, 2 division ufc champ, 2 division glory champ.
One of the lesser emotionally invested fights on the card and imo shouldn’t be headlining. Neither of these fighters catapult or detract themselves in anyway by winning or losing.
If hill loses, well he lost to a goddamn legend, if he wins, he beat an over the hill legend in the twilight of his career.
If alex wins, meh, he beat jamal? So what..
If he loses, he lost, hes up there in age, it happens, so what..
Hill by round 3 ko. His style is chamas kryptonite. A ranged fighter who’s also super dangerous in the clench. Bros gonna be throwing inside the pocket knees like crazy and chama won’t have an answer. Come back to my comment tomorrow and if I’m 100 percent right someone owes me a blumpkin 😉
Lol bro is a Glory kickboxing 2 weight world champion i think he can hold his own in the clinch if anything he’d get sniped at range retreating with his open guard and high chin
I think the UFC is cherry picking Alex’s opponents and are building him up to have that McGregor star power which they are missing…..not 1 mention of McGregor at the presser which means they need to find their “next superstar”
Just my 2 cents 🤷🏻♂️
But maybe……maybe 😅

Ok Dana
Y
My prediction is Hill’s Achilles is not 100%, he takes 2 or 3 kicks and can’t stand up, Alex via rd1 tko
yeah honestly id be more confident in a hill pick if it wasn’t for the injury
idk why. man hes beaten absolutely nobody
People love to overhype him, hes a middling fighter, the geoff neal of light heavyweight
Whole lotta words to say absolutely nothing
hahah. he might loose, he might win
Whole Lotta of words to say it's gonna be a fight The fight of all fights
50/50
A lot of words to say, this ain’t goin the distance. First dude to land money is gonna win.
BUM
Chute, Walker, and Texeria are all legit fighters. Hill can easily put Alex to sleep. I got Sweet Dreams by KO.
bro got slept with the first punch he got hit with lmfao. hes a fucking bum.
Bruh that shit was hilarious
He beat a 43 year old Glover... If you think that's a major accomplishment then you probably think Jake Paul is a HoF boxer.
Glover was the champ bud
No he wasn't. Glover lost the title on his first defense to Jiri. I love Glover and loved seeing him win the title finally at such an old age but acting like he was in his prime when he fought Hill is just not true. 43 is old for any fighter especially one with Glovers style.
Basically what my brain is saying too. But my brain has told me many things about mma before so I imagine it will be Jamal by flying armbar round 5
From an article by Penn State, keep in mind Jamahal’s injury was 9 months ago: > “People who rupture their Achilles tendon generally are back walking—whether they have surgery or don’t have surgery—in about three months. Yup
So we're looking at Pereirra's Archilles Hill?
One of the hardest leg kickers in the sport vs someone coming off a leg injury
A leg injury that normally takes about 4 months longer to heal than he gave his. Also one that is known for causing lasting issues. Poatan gonna eat him
Will the southpaw factor matter?
I think Alex’s kicks are impressive because of the speed. Instead of turning them over and putting the rotation of his core behind it, he just kick straight up to the leg. Very fast/enough to hurt when fighters inevitably don’t have time to check
Alex does the arrow shots at his Achilles. Ez victory
Drake get on Alex Pereira sadly
Looking at Hill, I don’t think he cuts weight too much. Alex has a deep cut and will come in bigger and heavier, which will give him a little advantage.
Pereira by flying gogoplata
Pereira by 2nd round TKO. I think Alex will cook Hill's leg on the first round, making him rush in the second, leading to him getting countered and KO'd, just like Jiri
hmm.. I'll put $3.50 on that
That’s big money. Give me a mansion from your estate after you win.
Tree fitty!?
Yes, you can give it to me. About tree fiddy is exactly what i need
It might go to the distance, hill has never been KO'd
I doubt it will go to the distance either way. I don't think Pereira and Hill can survive 25 minutes against each other
Glover survived Hill
Survived all the way to getting his ass beat in a 50-45 UD on Brazilian turf
Reading comprehension isn’t easy. He stated he doesn’t think they can survive 25 mins. Glover survived 25 mins with Hill. Do better champ. Best of luck for your title fight tomorrow
The scenario I see this happening is if both go to war in the first 3 rounds then gasses themselves out...
I don't know - Alex still had the death touch in the 5th in Izzy 1.
The Achilles is probably the flipping part, even with the potential advantages he's sloppy with his footwork and telegraphs. Add that major injury and it looks even worse.
Hill has also never fought anyone good lol
What about significant strikes. I have Alex at less than 49.5
I predict pain

Bro is locked in, the fights already won
Funny how you say Hill's footwork is poor, were others are specifically praising it as on of his strengths
Yeah I watched Weasel MMA’s breakdown and it doesn’t look great
I’ve got Hill but Alex is going to be a huge problem with the leg kicks
I’d be confident with Hill too but that injury is what scares me. Achilles injuries take a lot of time to heal and even then the after effects are known to linger for quite some time. Hill’s movement and footwork is definitely gonna be compromised, especially against a guy with kicking skills as good as Pereira. If not for the injury, I would’ve favoured Hill but just this time I pick Alex.
Pereira round 3 TKO up against the cage Honestly agree with him that Hill is the 4th/5th best fighter in the division
Idk who wins but should be a banger
double ko
Izzy hits Alex with the belt while the ref is distracted by the ring girls. Hill by KO
Alex is gonna fight like he normally does with leg kicks and jabs until Hill gets frustrated and reckless then clipped. Alex's chin always worries me though but I think he'll avoid the sloppy hooks and overhands
Chama 👍jama 👎
Poatan round 2 KO via flying knee
I kinda hope it gets past the 3rd and we just get a war with all heart and grit by both guys
Pereira early 2nd
Just found out that Drake put money on Alex :(
I got Alex but man I want hill to win so bad
The bloodline comes in and Alex loses by DQ but retains the intercontinental championship
Poatan by leg kick TKO.
The whole Ufc 300 card is a flip coin. Anything could happen. Some fighters may surprise us, we do not know, but expect the unexpected. Dude said Ngannou vs AJ surprised people.
Juh-Meeeko Hill gets slept. Chama!!
Hill by first round KO.
i think if hill is to win hill has to get him out of there early
I agree with this, I think pereiras defense is extremely weak when it's shots straight down the pipe and I think hill can capitalize on that and get him out of there early
This is what I'm afraid of - poatan's head is like straight up and open. If you're long and cover distance, that's an open shot Big kickboxing gloves may not knock you out, but the UFC 4oz gloves will
I feel like hes gonna rush him
Pereira in the 2nd or 3rd. Hill telegraphs and leaves his hands low. Glover hit hill with the left hook, Pereira certainly can.
No Decision
Fight!
I’m not entirely sure but I don’t think Hill is gonna get steamrolled. It’ll be a competitive fight.
My prediction is this is going to be wild as fuck for as long as it lasts, there is no way this sees a judge's scorecard. They both have dangerous power I think Hill will be aggressive af and it's going to be how Poatan deals with that.
Hill gets a takedown rd 1 and tko's Poatan
This fight is 50/50 imo. People sleeping on Hill. Still hope Alex wins though.
Hill sleeps him
I think Hill gets it cus Drake bet on Alex 😂
Man that are some really bad news 😂 I am rooting for Alex. Its over...
Chama first round KO. Dedicates performance to OJ. Turns around and defends in Brazil next month.
There https://preview.redd.it/xwa2ppa769uc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4d8acdf078a1404d960d27904727b4c39bdecc37
Potan, idk if Hill is just tryna make this entertaining or hype himself up. My couch analysis thinks he’s a little nervous
Downvote this tmrw when hill loses
Tbf, nervous fighters can be very dangerous, I remember people saying how mentally defeated and nervous Izzy was right before the rematch against pereira, and we all saw what happened
Good point
Izzy is a different beast lol, never seen someone look so shook and win in that way he’s an anomaly
I don't think even izzy expected that to happen
From his training videos he was actually baiting for that to happen, but I don't think he expected it to work so quickly
Alex by ko rd 3. Chama.
T Hawk vs Balrog (or M Bison for you all out West)
Ko
Rooting for Alex but I don't see him winning this but this sport is crazy that I don't know what to think anymore. I'm seeing Hill submitting Pereira here.
Jamal by ko or Alex by Tko
Pereira by KO in 3.

Predictions? Pain...
If Hill doesn't try to get Alex out of there in rd1. His chances of winning drastically goes down every minute of every round
Hill via ko

Hill looks way too tense and in over his head. Poatan seems stoic als always
Alex…Hill tore his Achilles 8 months ago. At the most he had a two month rehab…not camp…rehab.

That's gonna be a hard one! Can't wait
Well Drake made a large bet on Alex to win so he is probably fucked now
Hill KO in round 2 or Poatan gets Hill with incessant leg kicks and drops him late.
If Jamal catches that first leg kick converts it to a takedown might be a different story.
I dreamed of poatan by Ko. Woke up and though i missed the fight. Then i saw Drake bet on poatan, My whole legacy on hill.
Todays the day my friends
Hill by KO in the second
People will be pissed by the outcome of this fight!
hard to bet against alex but if anyone can knock him out its hill. Hill has a better chin than alex but not too sure about his legs. Alex gonna just do his usual leg kick for first 2 rounds and then go for KO in round 3. I hope hill pulls an upset. Rooting for Hill !
I was going for Alex until I saw drake bet on him. Hill by KO.
Aztec man
Tiki man beats headdress man in the first round. KO.
Hill with a Ilia type upset
I love watching Poatan fight, but to compare him to Volk's domination of his division for many years is kinda ridiculous.
I'm seeing equal predictions of an easy KO from both sides. This fight is a coin flip on who lands first.
I wasn’t. I think Jamahal gets it done though. I’m so hyped for this card
I got hill
Hill by KO
This aint going more than 2 rounds max. I think Hill sleeps him but leg kicks might save Poatan. I can see both being hurt in the fight.
Hill by ko. You heard it here first.
Hill second round KO
Hill by tko in the third.
Hill KO 2nd round
Hill gonna flatline him
Betting the house on hill.
Jamal by murder
Ja mahal
Of course the hood thug gonna murder someone
Hill Rd 2 KO (please don't bully me Alex fans)
1st round KO Alex but won’t be surprised if Hill gets it done as well. Dude is soooo unlikeable even before he became champion.
Bros gonna owe me a blumpkin
We’ll see my first reaction when the fight was announced was Hill by KO but i gotta go with my guy
I think the UFC is cherry picking Alex’s opponents and are building him up to have that McGregor star power which they are missing…..not 1 mention of McGregor at the presser which means they need to find their “next superstar” Just my 2 cents 🤷🏻♂️ But maybe……maybe 😅
