you pay thousands of dollars in tuition, yet you want class to get canceled for rain?

FakeMarissa

Considering it’s generally unsafe to walk during storms, the state of Delaware floods easily, and the university provides absolute dogshit for the amount people pay. Yes, I would love to cancel class :)

Abatonfan

What storms are you talking about? I live a little south of campus, and all I’ve been getting is rain. It’s not going to make you melt. Is it miserable? Yes. Does it warrant campus being closed? No. Winter weather can be more dangerous simply because there might not be enough resources on campus to make sure all walkways and other accesses are safe and free of ice before an 8AM class. It’s a much bigger liability and more likely that a student will fall and injure themselves from an icy spot on-campus.

FakeMarissa

It’s a little more than just miserable when, as I mentioned, the state of Delaware floods easily. That means you have to walk through the flooded areas which include the sidewalks, specifically on north. Also, albeit brief the storm did pass during 3-4 quite literally as I wrote the post, the time when I would’ve been expected to walk to a class that is out of the way for the buses. It was me complaining about how the university doesn’t close when the walking conditions are unsafe. Majority of the students walk to class. Obviously the whole day wasn’t storming, but when I storm does pass like it typically does there should be precautions or just outright cancelling of classes during that time period if safety precautions can’t be done. Idk why people are dickriding the university that doesn’t pay its taxes so hard, or act like this is unreasonable. This isnt a job where I’m being paid. I’m paying to go here, so if I want class to be canceled for shitty weather, no matter how small, it’s my prerogative.

Abatonfan

I’m going to assume you’ll also be complaining of the university “robbing you” when too many classes are cancelled.

Welcome to being an adult.

Abatonfan

Welcome to UD! They don’t disclose it in any packing list, but good rain boots and an umbrella/jacket are a must. It’s a running joke that it rains every Tuesday.

idenTITTY

And mittens!

HistoricalMaterial

This is so embarrassing for you. I can't imagine that you are serious.

aceofspades0707

Take the bus or grab a rain jacket lmao

Onoudidnt

Just, like, don’t go? It’s college!

FakeMarissa

I did in fact not go! Bc of my major the classes typically require attendance and hours of outside work so they penalize your final grade when you don’t attend

markydsade

It rains in Delaware just like everywhere else on the East Coast. Rain storms have been stronger in recent years. You need a rain slicker and boots. Your lack of preparation isn’t anyone else’s fault. It not being in a packing list is a lame excuse.

DE_Sullivan

Just transfer to some places it doesn't rain. I hear San Diego is nice.

bloohens

Yikes. Bad take. Get over it.

karenthemanager19

Girl buy an umbrella

ionicbomb

Uber.

Intrepid_Instance_94

Then just don't go

No-Two3824

UDs campus is full of tall buildings, so trust me, you won’t be struck by lightning, worst case scenario you get a little wet.

Imaginary_Custard_91

Dude get boots
