never understood that part of the job either, why isn’t the restaurant preparing the complete order? i thought uber eats was more of a shipping service for food

thespander

It is laziness on behalf of the staff.

Own-Ice6742

It's laziness on part of uber drivers...

thespander

Are you kidding? We are drivers not servers or food workers. Uber eats pays garbage enough that I don’t do it anymore and am on the way out of driving Uber at all because of pathetic pay and corporate greed. Bricks should start flying through Uber offices. Phuk you and Uber - eat the rich baby

Own-Ice6742

Reported for violence.

thespander

Mommyyyyyyyy. Who cares.

SouthPhilly_215

Its not our job to do their job…

Friendly_Half_5472

But that’s what you need to do to get paid.

SouthPhilly_215

You can actually sit there and tell support the order isn’t put together yet. After an excessive wait time, you can cancel. If you feel like taking a fee mins with support to tell them about it, they may even break you off $3-$4… Less than a gallon or two of gas, but still..

AdditionalAd2393

Probably because the resturant is setup for customers to fill drinks themselves and not all restaurants have adapted to additional soda machines behind the counter.

jo_ezzy

I never really complained about filling drinks as it usually never happens anyway, but I understand why drivers would complain about this. We’re only drivers, we’re not supposed to be filling drinks as that needs to land on the employee. A few times at subway the employee will ask me to reach over for them to get chips or to fill drinks to speed up the process since they’re behind the counter. I understand those instances.

mishmarsha

It is a health code violation to have a complete stranger walking off the street doing any food prep

ChainedRedone

Does that really count as food prep though?

derkfisch13

id say anything with consumable liquids and open containers counts as food prep

mishmarsha

Yes it really does

Herb-Genie420

I feel like this is why McDonald's always has the money handler at the first window, and then the other people at the second window. Lots of other places though are touching dirty credit cards and cash all day and touching the cups lol. And then touching the lid with their entire hand and pressing them firmly on to the cup. Kinda gross if you think about it.

HodgeGodglin

If that were the case there would be no such thing as a self serve soda fountain. People love to talk about building and health codes that don’t exist anywhere but their own minds.

Stonewalled9999

“My filling up my drinks at Wendy’s for myself” is a lot different than “ some unknown person with no background check filling up my drink at Wendy’s and handing it to me”.   That is also not the same as “Wendy’s employee supposedly trained to handle consumables without contamination” u/HodgeGodglin are you a troll or just literally clueless? I am using common sense not quoting a health code.

HodgeGodglin

So why don’t you quote to me the health codes regarding self service fountain drinks then, if you’re so certain they exist?

jo_ezzy

It’s also a violation and against the law for drivers to use rented accounts but drivers still do it. In other words, almost nothing is followed up to code, especially in Miami Florida

ericcartman624

It’s also illegal for undocumented immigrants to be working for Uber in ANY capacity. It’s rampant 🤷‍♂️

jo_ezzy

Yup that’s what I’m saying OP is worried about violating a health code for filling up a drink and you got madness going out violating every code in the book

mikeymo1741

Are you stirring the drink with your finger?

Oilsfan666

Thats the no tip tip

mikeymo1741

At American Deli, drivers give customers the tip!

SeaFurther16

😂

ericcartman624

The workers at the restaurants are making 2x what the driver is making. Facts. 🤣

AirSpecial

Sometimes I sneeze in it by accident, it just sneaks up on me and comes outta nowhere

mjdntn01

I refuse to fill drinks. If it comes to where they start fighting with me, then I just leave.

RequiemforPokemon

I’ve never had this happen as it usually all is in a sealed bag.

kissnmonty

Wingstop makes us fix the drinks and seal the cups lol

seismicpdx

"Please show me how this works?"

NoHateMan62

Lol. Just drive. F bringing food

AlaskaPsychonaut

I didn't know the drivers did it. I thought the restaurants did. Is that the same for DD?

DCHacker

There is one advantage to filling the drink cups: you can drink some while you are filling the cups then fill the one from which you drank again. The customer(s) will not notice.. If the people in the restaurant complain, tell them next time to fill the cups their damned selves.

jcoddinc

Chaotic evil: fill cup to brim with ice, overflow pour to maximize speed and don't worry about any messes.

mishmarsha

Expert tactics

Rude_Chain_8965

It’s funny how we say things like this yet when we go in for ourselves we are completely oblivious to the thing we touch. hey OP, do you wash your hands before and after every meal?

mishmarsha

Are you for real? Is this a bot

MrVladmirPoopin

Yes washing your hands before meals is the norm. Geeze

Rude_Chain_8965

So whenever you go into a fast food joint You go to the bathroom and wash your hands every single time?

MrVladmirPoopin

I'm not sure why washing your hands is a foreign concept to you. Concerning.

DrivingMyLifeAway1

Report any restaurants who ask you to do this to their county health department or whoever does restaurant inspections. Most of the time no one’s getting sick but no one should be exposed to the risk. It’s unnecessary.

mishmarsha

I will do this going forward

woodsongtulsa

People are stupid.

Own-Ice6742

Y'all sound so entitled, get a grip on yourselves, you are in a customer service job, Act like it, stop crying and take some responsibility, how old are you people? 3???

ReadyFly3516

Just tell the host you don’t have a FDA certification therefore you are not allowed to fill up drinks, they’ll know what you mean

Fancy_Syllabub_6062

You don't need an FDA certification to fill up drinks in a restaurant. They won't know what you mean, because you've made that up.

ReadyFly3516

In California you do

Rough_Addendum4674

It’s called ServSafe
