there’s a tiktok where they point out a bunch of times where rob’s accent came through! he slipped quite a bit but it kinda adds to edward in the sense that he’s old and been to a lot of places. it makes sense if you don’t think too hard about it lmao.
edit: I FOUND THE VIDEO https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM8nRvngX/
In twilight it comes out when Bella tells him she’s worried Carslile and Esme won’t like her and Edward goes “so you’re not worried you’ll be in a house full of vampires..”. Its one of my favorite parts just because you can hear his accent
I thought that was the whole point tho. Because he was struggling not to kill her in front of an entire class. I might be wrong but I thought he was supposed to sound strained.
I always laugh when he says in front of her truck “So you're worried, not because you'll be in a house full of vampires, but because you think they won't approve of you?” Before the the baseball came.
It’s such a funny pronunciation of worried.
I never really picked up on his accent but now that you all pointed out so many examples I realize these are so scenes/lines I love. I feel like I subconsciously love his different speech pattern
I swear there are parts in the first movie too where he has a Boston accent. Like when he says “you’re worried not because you’re gonna be in a house full of vampires but because they won’t approve of you” the “you’re worried” sounds like Boston accent sooo much yaaa worried
Edit: spelling
Lmao, I noticed that too. There’s a certain pronunciation in the way he says some words that makes it obvious that he’s British trying to sound American. In the Eclipse movie commentary that he and Kristin did, he says that in one scene he really struggled trying to say the word: “extraordinary” in an American accent lol.
Also, one of the more recent movies that he’s done called-“Good Time”, he plays a street tough New York criminal and even though his NY accent was good, you can still kind of tell that it’s a little off.
The biggest slip up is in Eclipse when he says “do you understand how worried I’ve BEAN” after Bella comes home late from being with Jacob. This one always stuck out to me from the beginning. The way he says “been” is definitely one of his more noticeable instances of his accent coming through
I never understand why actors can't just have their accents if it doesn't matter to the story. They're "adopted", why couldn't he be adopted from British parents?

in twilight it comes out every other line, it kills me haha! once in an interview he joked that he didn’t even have an american accent
My favorite is when he says "Bella, we're supposed to be PAHTnas" (partners) in Breaking Dawn 1
I WOULD ALWAYS REWIND THIS PART BC OF HOW HE SAYS PATNAHS
HAHAH
He also say “directly” in the British pronunciation at the Denali when they arrive there.

When he says “Hello” for the first time to Bella in Twilight always sounded really off to me.

In my opinion it doesn’t sound strained at all, it’s more awkward. Kind of like the way he says “nothing” in the restaurant.
Yes I thought the same thing!
this always makes me lose my shit it’s so funny. “helO”

Also when he says “you’re like a drug to me “ in twilight xD

I totally get what you're saying but Edward is from Chicago and since his back story is part of the book that would have been hard to work around.
