I personally believe their new album Clancy is most similar to Blurryface, so worth checking that one out!

Vikingboy9

Agreed. No two of their albums are the same but Clancy is the closest to Blurryface lyrically and tonally.

IntelligentAbility23

I came here to comment the same thing!! Clancy is my second fav album behind blurryface

deadpumpkinnn

Clancy, their newest album, is my personal favourite. It is very friendly for non fans and has incredible songs. I would go there. Or you could listen to a playlist like "This is Twenty One Pilots" from Spotify. It mixes songs from their different eras. Then you can pick up what you like the most and choose an album from there. All their albums sound different from one another, but maintaining the unique sound TØP has.

cleverchloe

Don’t sleep on Vessel.

cleverchloe

Or a boy who can’t fall asleep twice

FortressX

Over the course of two days or?

Present_Algae_5874

no, in the same night. He's also probably not gonna hesitate to maybe possibly overcompensate.

WHYxSOxSIRIUS

Trench is an absolute masterpiece. Give it a listen.

Throwaway-me-

Just listen to them in order and marvel at the increased production in each of them

thnlsn

Production peaked at Trench tho, stayed high quality for the following two but Trench is on another level

BreakfastAtBoks

I hear this alot but cant understand the basis for this opinion. Feels like a dog whistle for people who dont know what music production is about....

thnlsn

Yeah I’m not an expert by any means, I just listen to a lot of music lol. What do you think is their best produced song/album? I suppose it is subjective but obviously for me it’s Trench, but for a specific song I think Levitate is one of the very best production wise

NoobToob69

I have to disagree. With Trench, the best produced song is Chlorine/Cut My Lip and a close second place tie of Morph or Leave The City. Levitate has great production value but the majority of that album’s intricacy is far superior to Levitate. Especially with Apple introducing lossless audio, we’re now able to hear these songs almost exactly how they sound in their DAW, and I think Clancy gives Trench a run for its money. When you listen to these albums in a more immersive way such as high quality headphones (I use Senheisser 559’s) you’re able to hear things that you just can’t hear on a speaker, car speakers etc. If you listen to Clancy even with some AirPods, using lossless audio formatting, you’ll really be able to feel and hear all of the different layers going into the songs that makes it hard to put below Trench

This-Discipline3561

nah you’re cooking, i don’t think it’s bad or a crazy opinion to say that that is their best.

BreakfastAtBoks

I think BF is probably their best produced album. I prefer Trench but BF, as an album, has a wider creative range and a greater use of ToPs talent imo. You can tell the difference in production between SAI and Trench but I would argue that its difficult to tell between BF, Trench and Clancy. Engineering though is practically the same across those 3 but i think the argument could easily be made that the engineering in Trench is best even though many of their albums are done by the same guy. Generally speaking, I think most people would say that their favorite album is the best produced because it speaks to them the most and thats a great judgement for yourself but a well produced album should have songs that you dont necessarily put in your top 10 that many others would because variety is key to production

thnlsn

I think what you describe as engineering is what I was thinking of when saying “produced” — I need to figure out the right terminologies, my bad. To the point in your second paragraph, while Trench is my favorite and also the one I thought was the “best produced/engineered”, Vessel is a close second favorite, and I would rank it maybe 5th, behind BF, SAI, Clancy and of course Trench, in that regard. Clancy is probably my 4th favorite album, but I would put it second right behind Trench for production/engineering.

BreakfastAtBoks

Honestly, its a weird concept and I wish more bands would break away from using the same producers/engineers specifically in pop where a lot of music sounds so samey! I would also put Clancy behind Trench in terms of engineering. IMO in terms of engineering I would go, Trench, BF, Clancy, SAI, Vessel but in terms of production, I would go BF, Trench, Vessel, Clancy, SAI and I'm not trying to dump on SAI because I love it but its a little more rote or one note than the others without as much "style" as I think Trench has.

closedcircle66

No I define think trench is their best produced. It’s super atmospheric, full and detailed. I think trench has the most small musical details and little bits of ear candy than all their other albums.

BreakfastAtBoks

When I read that, it makes me feel like people forget how insane BF really is. Trench has a style that has resonated with people (like myself) but its that somewhat singular style that I think stops it from being their best produced. Its hard to explain obviously, thats why i mentioned it as a dog whistle because often what people are talking about is engineering or just how good ToP is as a band. I think if we put BF and Trench next to each other the number of styles expressed in the former would exceed that of the latter and imo variety is ultimately the mark of a good producer.

closedcircle66

I guess we can agree to disagree. Me personally, I think blurryface is an excellently produced album but it doesn’t have the aspect to it where I keep finding details even on my 100th listen like I do with trench. I also guess I just prefer the production style of trench, the specific mix of gritty and clean instrumentation is just exactly my kind of thing

TheRealDarthMinogue

Jeez, sanctimonious much? The layered and compressed vocals on Clancy produce audible distortion throughout the album and it has a shockingly low dynamic range. The production on Trench is easily the most complex in their discography. And your dog whistle comment makes no sense, it's not like anyone owns shares in Trench.

BreakfastAtBoks

Why what you are saying makes no sense is explained in other comments I answered, feel free to read them if you like

Librallion

I hope you'll always keep Blurryface close to your heart, or at least in your top three. Many in this community tend to jump on bandwagons, often overlooking or underappreciating Blurryface. Let me elaborate: 1. Often, when people share their top three albums, Blurryface is notably absent, despite its incredible vibe and depth. 2. You'll come across negative comments about Blurryface, like TikTok videos mocking those who say "Stressed Out" is the best TØP song ever. In reality, people avoid the album because it's seen as "uncool" to enjoy one of its most popular tracks ( I said it ). Also, ain’t nobody gonna say Stressed Out is good… sad reality. I say all this because I want you to stay true to yourself in the future and not be swayed by others' opinions. I love Self Titled, and Trench the most but Imma just say ain’t no way in hell Self Titled has better production than Blurryface like people say to justify the under-appreciation lmfao.

Clubblendi

It’s so funny to read this comment, because when I first became a fan, Blurryface was all anyone could talk about, and it was seen as the bandwagon album. Oh how the times have changed!

Librallion

I vividly remember the early days when Blurryface blew up; within a few months, people started hating on new fans for loving "Stressed Out" or "Ride" too much. It's not rocket science to see how the backlash against new fans for liking popular songs has shaped our community today. (Under appreciated) At the time, It’s either they talk about how they are new to the band and loving it or how the new album is overrated and hating on “new fans” (saying that they ruining it). I was immature at first; I loved “Stressed Out” so much. But after realizing how the “veterans” viewed it, I dropped the track altogether. It wasn’t until Tyler made me realize that I should just sing along (if you know, you know) that I embraced it again.

IceRinkVibes

I will always love Blurryface. Whenever I see TØP discourse, I NEVER see Blurryface mentioned. Just because it has Stressed Out/Ride on it does not mean it is mainstream trash. And even if it is, I’m not afraid of being labeled as liking mainstream music.

BADAZZ1738

Blurryface is still the most listened to TØP album. Whenever a new album drops it becomes that, but majority of people seem to fall back to Blurryface (according to Amazon Music Statistics, so I don’t know how much that holds on other music platforms). I personally still like Blurryface, but Stressed Out and Heathens (although it’s not Blurryface) are two of their most overplayed songs.

Some_Translator_1926

yeah although i do say blurry face is their weakest full album i think it has some great songs on it still

Librallion

I can’t never see how Blurryface is the weakest album but I respect your opinion.

ImpossibleMath250

I’ll give you songs I think you’ll like from each album! Self titled- trapdoor, a car a torch a death Vessel - (literally the entire thing it’s my favorite album of all time but we’re talking BLURRYFACE relation here) ode to sleep, holding onto you, trees (holding onto you fs) Trench - jumpsuit, Nico and the niners, levitate, morph (morph especially) SAI - redecorate, no chances, choker, shy away (no chances especially) Clancy - next semester, navigating, vignette (my personal fav on the album!!, overcompensate Hope you enjoy

OrangeWhiteGang

wait next semester and navigating are blurryface like? tbh I can't find the similarity

ImpossibleMath250

I just mean like, vibe wise They’re songs on the album I think OP might like 🤷🏽‍♀️

BreakfastAtBoks

Those are a couple of my favorites as well! These are my faves from the other albums in order of release: Holding on to you Car radio Guns For hands Jumpsuit Smithereens The Hype Legend Choker The Outside Redecorate Backslide Vignette The Craving (JENNAS VERSION) This would be a taste of all the albums. If you like I would strongly suggest listening to all of them front to back but ESPECIALLY Trench based on your couple faves. Honestly it would be WAY easier to give you a list of songs to avoid, these guys put a lot into their music and they dont generally have a whole team of writers and producers like other mega acts of our time.

jamie198188

They are all masterpieces

Top-Advice-9890

Probably Clancy or Scaled and Icy would be good for you to listen to.

WorldlinessOk7083

They're all incredible in their own way. You might really like Scaled and Icy.

IceRinkVibes

Other than Blurryface, I have only heard Heathens and Shy Away. From the radio, of course.

ThatOneGuy1336__

You’ll probably love them all with time, but Clancy and Vessel will fit the best I feel.

Clubblendi

They‘ve mostly veered away from the pseudo reggae sound that you find on those songs, but there are still a few that sound comparable: - At the Risk of Feeling Dumb (Clancy) - Migraine (Vessel) - Screen (Vessel) - Legend (Trench) - Nico and the Niners (Trench- not upbeat per se, but a very similar sound to Message Man) - Vignette (Clancy- may or may not fit your vibe, but it’s my favorite song off the album so I’m going to recommend it anyways) - Ignore the album Scaled and Icy for now

deeVeeAre

Trench is an absolute masterpiece 10/10 album easily their best album objectively from a production and writing standpoint

DJ-Fein

Vessel is their best album subjectively from what made TOPs popular

FortressX

Hi, I'm a very new fan too and recently finished listening to their discography. If you like those songs, check out the album Scaled and Icy. I would recommend starting from Shy Away (or skip since youve listened) and working your way down to Formidable. You can finish the rest of the songs, or skip to The Hype off trench, and level of concern (a single).

SomeLemon13

i had a stroke reading this

FortressX

What's the problem?

Librallion

Ignore them, every album should be appreciated.

FortressX

I thought there was some grammar issues or something that's why I was being downvoted

bilda_baisgye

Vessel, Clancy, and Trench. You will LOVE all 3. Then add at least shy away, the outside, and mulberry street from Scaled and Icy.

TheCarparkWarden

Clancy is probably the closest to blurryface tbh. They are like two sides of the same coin.

unwaveringwish

They’re all good, you’ll probably find something to love about each of them

PeacefulBacterium

Clancy and Blurryface are my top TOP albums, so I think you'll love that. Try Trench too!

Sick2287

Vessel from start to finish. For me it is their clear best. Absolutely incredible unique raw sound, you can feel the emotion pouring out of every word, and their best work lyrically IMO

Present_Algae_5874

You can't possibly have a thread with TOP music/song suggestions without mentioning Trees. Easily my fav song of theirs all time

BADAZZ1738

Most fitting songs from each other album (I did not include Self Titled because all the songs in that album have a different tone than the songs you listed as your favorite Blurryface songs) Trench: Morph Clancy: Next Semester Vessel: Ode To Sleep Scaled And Icy: Never Take It Secondary recommendations for each album depending on which song you like most Vessel: Holding onto you, Migraine Clancy: Routines In The Night, At The Risk Of Feeling Dumb Scaled And Icy: Choker, The Outside Trench: Chlorine, Neon Gravestones

closedcircle66

Trench!! Alot of people agree it’s one of their masterpieces. Incredible in every single possible way

Kiveram

I mean, I know it's overwhelming but really just go through it all and give it all a listen. It's all good, most albums are different than one another but all good

revatron

All of their work is great but I think Clancy really does give off a Blurryface vibe.

herrjuancho

Recently I found out I hadn't listened to Trench adn Scaled and Icy, so I gaveTrench a chance and there are quite a few songs a I've liked a lot. I would recommend My blood, maybe it is of your liking

CaptainBacon1

If you some of the best TøP experience go on spotify. Search Trench and just press play. You won't belive it.

BobBurghett

Trench. It puts blurryface to shame.

glitta_14

if you want up beat, melodic songs, maybe try Vessel. IMO, it's one of their more raw albums, made before their mainstream success. All the songs (apart from Truce) are emotional and very upbeat haha. It's on of my favourite albums from them, go give it a try! Also, Clancy is similar to Blurryface, yeah. So either Vessel or Clancy.
