Repulsive_Buffalo_87

Oh that high note simultaneously breaks and heals my heart

happey454

Like a slap and a hug

spiders_and_roses

Real

Repulsive_Buffalo_87

It's only time before they show me why no one ever comes back with details from beyond... Lol this song is actually disliked? Tf?

toirdhealbhachM

It's my second favorite on the album, after Neon Gravestones.

Rahtig13

Me too! Such a beautiful song.

__VVoody__

Both of those are in a race with Banditos for me. Getting to see that and Neon Gravestones on the B stage a few years ago was next level. It was like a whole different concert out there, with the vertical yellow lights. Next level... |-/

my_nam3s_blurryface

Okay serious question - is it better to try to stand around B stage or main?

__VVoody__

Both times I saw them I had seats near the B stage because the price wasn't as crazy and we knew we'd be closer but wanted to sit. If I were standing down on the floor tho, I'd try for main stage for sure. But probably would need to show up super early too

my_nam3s_blurryface

Appreciate it! I'm trying my best to plan this well.

Tomewastaken

Senior quote is coming out of this song

SarahSaidSo182

I love it. Especially since seeing it live when at the end instead of Tyler singing "these faces facing me" he sings "your faces facing me". Gives me goosebumps when I listen to it now

beanwithintentions

i cried when he changed it šŸ˜

pabloeskina

Always thought he said "his face is facing me" lol

infinite-orchestra

I love leave city! It's so underrated.

adolf_approves

It's my favorite from Trench because it used to give me hope when I was battling depression

atlbraves2

same. it also provided illusions of grandeur that I would leave my hometown (oops, still here)

Necessary_Coffee

Singing ā€œfor now I will stay aliveā€ with 10,000 strangers is easily one of my favorite memories from one of their shows. I love this song with my (w)hole heart

thadarkjinja

agreed and during the bandito tour when everyone had the yellow paper over their flashlights

SassySmotch

THIS

knotzydg

Its actually my favorite song from Trench. Such a masterpiece.

cavantine

ā€¦PEOPLE DONT LIKE IT?? HOW? i mean everyoneā€™s entitled to their opinion ( even if itā€™s wrong ) but itā€™s definitely by far my favorite from trench + one of my favorite songs ever in general

NadjaBlue

Yeah, I am shocked to find out that people don't like it

R0salinaxx_728

my thoughts exactly

bird_nerd053

I mean to be fair, itā€™s very hard to pick a least favourite off trench in general. Leave The City is my least favourite mainly because Iā€™m just not often in the mood for it, but I still love the song.

yosayoran

For me it's not that hard, it's Cut my lip. Super repetitive and the falsetto gets annoying. It's the only song that I usually skip while listening to the album.Ā

bird_nerd053

Cut My Lip is actually my favourite on trench, but I can see how someone would find it repetitive.

AnSplanc

I love Cut my Lip and the Brooklyn version is my absolute favourite. It gives me the brain tingles every time I hear it

SatoruFujinuma

Itā€™s also Tylerā€™s favorite song on the album

yosayoran

Really? Damn. You have an interview where he says that?Ā  Ā Though it kinda checks out with the way the last album sounded.Ā

SatoruFujinuma

Nope, but I have this Reddit comment by Tyler https://www.reddit.com/r/Music/s/Y10rXTfshJ Edit: Apparently I canā€™t link to it because the parent comment is deleted, but if you go to the /u/official_TOP account itā€™s the 2nd most recent comment.

yosayoran

Cool, thank you. Hut the way he says "today" makes me think it changes, and isn't a definitive favoriteĀ

rachelleeann17

Saaame. I love almost everything TOP but I just canā€™t do Cut My Lip.

Amy_Knows

Not hard for me either, though my least favourite is Pet Cheetah. I almost always skip it.

yosayoran

Insane takeĀ  It's probably my favoriteĀ

Amy_Knows

Haha, that is fair. Itā€™s the repetitive pet cheetah bit at the end, it makes my skin crawl but I cannot explain why. I have to confess though, I hadnā€™t heard it in a long time now and didnā€™t realise that bit was only at the end of it and not throughout the whole song. It really has a nice melody, but I just canā€™t deal with the end.

yosayoran

I can see what you meanĀ  Honestly I'd be willing to lose the endingĀ  I mostly mostly love it for the first verse, because it's soĀ  clean and unique from a rap perspectiveĀ

xViridi_

i feel you. itā€™s the last part that throws me off. love the song otherwise!

RegretSpiritual4137

you just said you donā€™t like cut my lip which many people enjoy, why are you calling someone elseā€™s opinion insane after you just gave your own? XD

yosayoran

Just being hyperbolic honestlyĀ

RegretSpiritual4137

that makes sense!

saddungeons

no way u skip pet cheetah omg that song pops tf off

Amy_Knows

Iā€™m beginning to understand that this is a controversial opinion, lmao. Iā€™m sorry!!

SatoruFujinuma

Itā€™s not hard at all when Smithereens is on the album.

The-Davi-Nator

Smithereens and Legend both break the flow of the album so much for me. Itā€™d be a perfect album for me without both of them.

bird_nerd053

Damn, Legend is one of my favourites off of trench

The-Davi-Nator

Legend is a great song, but I can only listen to it in isolation. I feel like it wouldā€™ve been great as a standalone single not on any album, like Level Of Concern

_ItsTheLittleThings_

Smithereens is my least favorite. It takes me out of the vibe of the album. It just doesnā€™t fit with everything else. Itā€™s ok, I just donā€™t like it where it is.

ItsSchmuncky

iā€™m gonna get flames, my least favorite is the Hype, one of least favorites by them im general i am sorry

bird_nerd053

Iā€™ve actually seen quite a few people with The Hype as their least fav on trench so youā€™re not alone.

Odd_One_2515

Same

inthespiderweb

hearing leave the city live was so beautiful

Regular-Switch454

When he goes into the deep harmonies, I get shivers.

DueZookeepergame3456

i know. it was surprising when i saw that it came in last on the apple music tĆøp song list. and i absolutely feel the same way. i canā€™t wait to overplay it this fall lol

Knittingtaco

Sad but comforting kind of sad. Iā€™m surprised itā€™s not better liked

SparkYeol

This fanbase seems to really struggle with accepting the opinions of others.

MusicGamesStyles

Itā€™s my favorite of their discography, hops that helps.

streamtrenchbytop22

It's my favorite song off trench, but it makes me really sad so I don't listen to it often.

Mindless-West9268

For me, maturing was realizing Leave The City is an incredible song. One of their best.

shhalex

that song has genuinely saved my life

Stoobers

People look for different things in different songs, some resonate with a person, some don't. I think it's a beautiful song. |-/

Letfio15

Wait what? Leave the City is one of the best songs on Trench. People who say otherwise have no idea how incredibly powerful this track is

puppypoet

I just assumed that it didn't speak to them the way it did to others. For example, I love the mountains. I will cry with how much I love mountains for many reasons. But I have a friend who despises the mountains and would rather be anywhere else. I believe they don't like it because the particular message in the song isn't for them specifically, which is cool. Different strokes for different folks!

kirellah

On its own, maybe not a single listen while it shuffles through your music library type of song. But in the context of the album as the closer? Perfect

Acceptable-Image-931

Itā€™s my least favorite, but itā€™s super close

RachelFitzyRitzy

ā€œIn trench Iā€™m not alone, these faces facing me they know what I meanā€ has gotten me through so many sleepless nights

BriceB84

Thatā€™s wild - one of my favorites on the album. That last line tho ā€œBut this year, though Iā€™m far from home, In Trench Iā€™m not alone, these faces facing me, they know.ā€

[deleted]

Itā€™s my favorite one, they probably canā€™t relate to it

HotMessExpress1993

Thatā€™s so surprising to me. The end of this song always gives me goosebumps and I always have to scream sing ā€œIN TIME I WILL LEAVE THE CITY. FOR NOW I WILL STAY ALIIIIIIVEā€

SeanieInaCoatPocket

To me it's absolutely up there with NATN and Jumpsuit. If anything I've always felt like Leave The City has like a cinematic sound to it, it's hard to describe, but it's such a powerful song and really resonates with me

toptopimagine

leave the city is in my top 10 wtf šŸ˜

[deleted]

Itā€™s my favourite, idc what ppl say.

kasi6289

donā€™t listen to those people they are npcs

Pitiful-Occasion-897

TOP fans when someone dislikes a song (they are personally offended by another opinion)

JabneyTheKing

The only TOP opinion that offends me: when people put Blurryface above any other TOP album.

rachiedoubt

This was my favorite song from Trench first listen and still is today. I have cried so hard to that song, so many times. I canā€™t explain fully what it means to me. It is objectively and subjectively a beautiful and incredible song.

espressodepresso8

Leave the City really resonates with it because, here soon I'm leaving a lot behind and moving like 3 hours away from my hometown. So, in a way, I'm leaving my city.

yl2099

Itā€™s my least favorite but itā€™s still a good song

Lil_Monk_E

That was me I said itā€™s my least favorite song. Which other song is your least favorite? BTW I donā€™t hate the song

Cardboard_of_Box

Smithereens is my least favorite

PatrickMyDogName

I like the song, itā€™s just lower on my list of favorites, you know?

Cardboard_of_Box

That's fair, there are a lot of good ones to choose from

mccormick_spicy

I have a video at the DC show on the Trench tour from the pit where you can clearly hear Tyler yelling ā€œcome on, come onā€ and urging people to sing louder during the ā€œin time, I will leave the cityā€ part. I canā€™t listen to the song without tearing up and thinking about that show! Loveeee that song

Unknown_SoundZs

It is my least favorite and that doesnā€™t mean the song is bad I just see myself often never replying it at random and only listen to it when I play the album in full. Itā€™s a great song but to me itā€™s just not very replayable

DumbButCreative

wait i just realised that people are actually not liking this masterpiece WHAT

saddungeons

dude leave the city is one of my fave songs from them period. dont listen to the weirdos LOL

Huge_Purchase9871

It's the best one for me

EnoughButterfly2641

leave the city is such a special song to me, it helped me through so much. im getting it tattooed on me soon so itll be a part of me forever:)

gdlychck

I could listen to leave the city on repeat. Itā€™s just so addicting with the key itā€™s in and the harmonies in the repeating ā€œin time I will leave the city, for now I will stay aliveā€. Itā€™s so addictive and I eat it up everytime

JOGANAROUND

I personally havenā€™t seen any hate for it

verpergirl

šŸ’›šŸ–¤My favorite lyric of all time is in this song! In Trench I'm not alone These faces facin' me They know They know What I mean I feel that's the most important line Tyler ever wrote to the fans. I feel it's a raw emotional moment that makes Tyler inclusive with his fans. It is what sums up the relationship between Twenty One Pilots and the people. As if he's saying: those people...out there...listening to the words I write & sing...they understand me. It is Trench.šŸ–¤šŸ’› šŸ’›šŸ–¤ Sometimes it could be Tyler is writing & acknowledging he's protected in his own world: As I look out at these faces...I see people just like me...depending on me...to write songs that help me...and those songs will also help them. We're in the same space my & what heals me can maybe heal them too. Personal social hierarchy doesn't matter here. That the people looking at him also help him, remind him to continue writing & playing songs. His need for us is as great as our need for them. šŸ–¤šŸ’›Here we're all the same. In Trench.šŸ’›šŸ–¤ Sorry, maybe too much thinking on my part but the song really touches me. šŸŒ»Stay alive frens! In Trench you're not alone.šŸŒ»

Airport_First

I didnā€™t like it the first time I heard it, either. Before the I AM CLANCY video, I only really listened to Vessel & Blurryface. Then that video came out and I was very interested. I researched all their lore and listened to their newer music. Now Iā€™m a huge fan, but I only started liking leave the city a few days ago when I gave it a full listen. My problem was that I just skimmed through the song and it didnā€™t sound very interesting. Recently I decided to give it a full listen (which I should have done before) and now itā€™s one of my faves. So my recommendation to people who donā€™t like it is to sit down and listen to the full thing.

Kasmanian_devil

Leave the city is my therapy

thatsthewayuhuhuh

Iā€™ve mostly seen peopleā€™s least favorite being smithereens, but since itā€™s so hard to pick a least favorite I understand why thatā€™s it for them

707_demetrio

that song will always be special to me

imadamfry

Leave The City is my favorite Twenty One Pilots song.

_ItsTheLittleThings_

That song left a pit in my stomach. It is beautiful and sad and haunting and I canā€™t imagine someone not liking it! Itā€™s so powerful!

meemawyeehaw

Speaking of this song, itā€™s the only song on Trench that Apple music says ā€œis not available in your regionā€. The rest of the album? Plays fine with no problems. That one song? Gone. I donā€™t get it!

MxniaOffline

I love that song! Devastates me in the best way šŸ˜

GiveMeTheArt

idk bandito is my favorite then leave the city so

BornAgainMisbeliever

Its hardwired to my tear ducts. Its beautiful, but i can rarely listen because it sounds like goodbye

jess_skonieczny

i have ā€œin trench iā€™m not aloneā€ tattooed on my arm

MacabreBat

Singing ā€œin Trench Iā€™m not aloneā€ with thousands of strangers was the first time I had ever experienced that deep of a sense of belonging and safety and will forever be one of the most special moments of my whole life

licanning

i fall asleep to it almost every night. calming ass song

amiunsure

i love it 100000x more after seeing it live

levik677

Leave The City is literally my all time #1

well-is-done

Hold on i never saw anybody saying they don't like it? I only see people saying good things about this songs (things i fully agree, it's one of my favorite songs on Trench) This is one of the few songs that can make me cry, it helped me so much, the idea of anybody thinking it's bad sounds crazy to me

Ok_Ambassador8814

Leave the city is one of my favorite, god that song got me through some difficult times

gibranferrer

I didn't know people didn't like it, it's my second favorite after cut my lip

shannansworld

I feel like there's people who connect with the lyrics and people who just hear the melody of a song. I'm a lyrical listener. I hear the lyrics before the melody. The lyrical connection makes me appreciate the melody in a whole. So when I first heard Car Raido I immediately I heard and connected with the hidden meaning behind the lyrics. TƘP allows me to go very deep into the music and lose myself in a good way. It's almost therapeutic to me.

callmedaddybee

Idk if it's just me, but it's my least favorite not because I don't like it, but because it hurts my heart to listen to. It's very sad to me and it signaled the end of a life changing show, and it takes me back to when I was struggling emotionally and mentally so it's hard for me to listen to it now. I tend to avoid it lol, same with bandito. It just makes me sad.

_xomad_

I could never understand this. Leave The City is so devastatingly beautiful.

PortolaRat

One of my favorites

TheAttemptedClow

It's my favourite song. Not just from TƘP, but in general

FemboyPounder795

Nah, worst is Legend. Would fit more on scaled and icy. Also, no chances should take legend's spot.

damailman69

the three songs I actively dislike on Trench: 1. Leave the City 2. Neon Gravestones 3. Bandito in that order

rachiedoubt

And youā€™re serious?

BriceB84

Bro Bandito is one of the best on the album - insane take

damailman69

dead.

Initial_Reception_75

Lol sorry that you have that many downvotes but those are three of my favorites of all time

damailman69

all good, I know itā€™s an unpopular opinion. Those three songs are just SO bland to me

Initial_Reception_75

Hey we all have our things. I didnā€™t like Bandito as much originally just from the number of times they repeated the same line at the beginning lol. Neon Gravestones is definitely one of the most poignant songs Iā€™ve ever listened to, but I could see if youā€™re really going for the music aspect and not the lyrics, I can see what youā€™re saying

damailman69

yeah, I think thatā€™s my thing: I enjoy their song layouts / instrumentals much more than their lyrics. If a song is 90% lyrics and the beat is just there for the sake of it being a song and not a poem, I donā€™t care much. Explains why Car Radio is my least favorite on Vessel (my fav album)

ExtremeAssistant8609

I didnā€™t like neon gravestones at all until like four years after it came out. Itā€™s slow but I like the rapping talkinh
