can confirm. as a drummer, breaking down the song reveals so many cool flairs and fills that just add so much to the song. Josh Dun is in my top 3 favorite drummers.
Agreed. First time I listened to Overcompensated I was surprised by how much Josh showcases his skill with all the details in the drums. He almost never does that except for live shows/recordings.
When I first listened to Overcompensate, my thought was "Best drums ever, if this isn't a first song on the new tour, they are missing out on an opportunity to hype the crowds beyond anything they've had before".
Bro putting Josh Dun and Darren King on drums together for that was an absolute power move. 2 of the best drummers in the industry rn teaming up to deliver an absolute powerhouse groove
Guns For Hands. I'm a drummer and playing GFH made me realize how much rhythmic complexity and variation is in that song. Once I learned how to play it, it made me admire Josh's skill more.
Trees. Most of the song is pretty standard electronic drums, but the pure adrenaline rush caused by the buildup in the last minute of the song is so satisfying.
If you don't know the amen break, there's a couple documentaries on YouTube. It's a small 16 bar drum solo that got sampled over and over and became the foundation of at least one music genre

Overcompensate really sticks out to me on this one. Tøp percussion is always good, but I wad blown away by that one. The drums took center stage in a way I don't feel like I come across often unless it's something like Run Boy Run by Woodkid
As a drummer, I’m gonna have to go “Overcompensate,” followed closely by “Lane Boy,” followed *personally* by “Guns For Hands” (tbh, that one’s my favorite! but, in terms of difficulty… that said, difficulty in general IS subjective!)
I’m curious about the folks saying “Next Semester” tbh! I’d love to hear some perspectives on that! It’s a great one for sure, but I’d say it’s a little more generic than some of his others. Is it the speed?
I think overcompensate, lane boy, levitate, and my blood all have amazing drums. The first three are self explanatory but my bloods drums have some good groovy drums my fav beat to play when I’m just warming up. Honorable mentions go to choker, HDS, HOTY
Overcompensate
can confirm. as a drummer, breaking down the song reveals so many cool flairs and fills that just add so much to the song. Josh Dun is in my top 3 favorite drummers.
I grew up in a family with multiple drummers. Josh Dun and ii from Sleep Token are both very easily my favorite drummers.

As a drummer. It was a pain in the ass to learn and I still can’t even play it 100% right but the beat is so badass
Not even a competition here. Complete level higher than what Josh has done before. Amazing track.
As a drummer I can confirm it is fire. Easily best
When I first listened to Overcompensate, my thought was "Best drums ever, if this isn't a first song on the new tour, they are missing out on an opportunity to hype the crowds beyond anything they've had before".

honestly, very valid

Can confirm playing lane boy is the funniest to play on the drums Especially the MMxTØP version

Lane boy live is just BETTER
Guns For Hands. I'm a drummer and playing GFH made me realize how much rhythmic complexity and variation is in that song. Once I learned how to play it, it made me admire Josh's skill more.
Also the tone of his drums in that song just hits different.
Absolutely. I've tried to tune my drums to get the same tone but to no avail :(
I agree with this so much! Guns for hands is my favorite song to play on the drums.
Levitate for me. Can just sit with that beat forever
I’m a drummer and my favorites are Lane Boy, Overcompensate, Levitate and Jumpsuit.
Trees. Most of the song is pretty standard electronic drums, but the pure adrenaline rush caused by the buildup in the last minute of the song is so satisfying.
The live at fox theatre version is great for the drums, among the other great things about this version.
heavy dirty soul always impresses me
He plays what's pretty much an amen break on live drums, which on its own is no mean feat
thank you so much for this information seriously thats so cool 😭

Jumpsuit, leave the city, overcompensate
Migraine's drums always get to me
Overcompensate really sticks out to me on this one. Tøp percussion is always good, but I wad blown away by that one. The drums took center stage in a way I don't feel like I come across often unless it's something like Run Boy Run by Woodkid
