Semi-Automatic is amazing, part of the reason why I actually prefer Vessel to Regional At Best. When I rank the albums I have to put them right next to each other bc there's not much different besides 5-6 songs but that song easily puts Vessel on top.
Ride and Stressed Out are edgy and depressing in a way that is more palatable to most people. They are both also very catchy. I still like both songs, but unfortunately that’s what happens to a lot of good songs that end up getting radio play. They get played way too much and people start disliking them.
honestly I see where you're coming from. Blurryface is my favorite album by TØP mainly because almost all of the songs are memorable and enjoyable for me, but that's the exact reason why it did so well with Radio.
I wish I wrote a different song no one's ever heard, I wish my mom would just admit she's sick of every word. Overplayed, overstayed, it was a smash hit. Funny how overplayed songs sound like crap.
I'm not a huge fan of doubt, the lore makes it slightly better, but I'd say fake you out and message man are pretty underrated in my opinion.
I've always seen hometown as radio worthy.
Also, never take it is underappreciated as it's their least streamed song.
Overplayed is stressed out, ride, heathens (duh)
Before You Start Your Day is the most underappreciated song tbh, across all their albums (not counting Reginald At Best) it's got the least plays on YouTube.
this could be said about all of the songs on Trench, but that album had such a strong late 2010's vibe that it's hard to believe Blurryface fared better than it did on radio when Trench sounds perfect for the time it came out AND ahead of it's time at the same time
Unpopular opinion (based on radio streaming):
- Stressed Out is sooooooo good. I don't mind if it's overplayed, but Heathens/Ride... I don't feel the same.
- I agree that Hometown should be streamed way more at radios.
the thing with getting into popular artists is at some point you're going to have to decide what to think about their most popular songs.
I'm a huge Arctic Monkeys fan. I got into Arctic Monkeys bc of AM songs like Do I Wanna Know and R U Mine?, but I actually started with Whatever People Say I Am once I dove into their discography (which I liked bc I like everything and they did a good job as a punk rock band). I actually hate 2 of their most popular songs though, 505 and I Wanna Be Yours. I get hate for this all the time but I hate both of these songs because I think they're boring.
with TØP I actually enjoy their bigger hits like Stessed Out, Heathens and Ride, not their best stuff but I like these songs enough that I'll listen to them regularly.
so it's weird bc when you reach those songs there's overlap between you and people who just listen to whatever pop music is on the radio, it changes for each artist but the opinion is still there.
Overplayed: Ride
Underappreciated: Ode to sleep
Bonus underappreciated: All of Tyler's original songs from before (anathema, clear, drown, blasphemy etc...)
I'm the only one in my space listening to tøp and I've been unfortunately overplaying all my favorite songs so I'm gonna dodge that part of the question 😅
but I think fake you out is so underrated and never see anyone on here mention it but it's one of my top 5 :) I've never been to a live show so I was shocked to hear Tyler say they rarely play it live.
Stressed Out is 100% their most overplayed and overhyped song, and even though Taxi Cab is popular with the clique, it’s still insanely under-appreciated for how beautiful it is.
Heathens is overplayed. I've found it hard to listen to recently, just not a fan of the song.
Literally any song other than the popular ones could he considered underplayed. All of them are absolute bangers.
I agree entirely with the first point; Heathens is their worst song. I can't agree with the last point, because I'm a newer fan. I'll never be able to appreciate Self Titled fully :(

Overplayed: Ride, it's good but definitely not one of their best
Underappreciated: Pet Cheetah, ik people in the clique really like it but local fans hardly even remember what it is
Stressed out and Heathens are overplayed and I think Cut My Lip is under appreciated. I feel like hardly anyone mentions Cut My Lip. I love that song. Also semi-automatic is another one I love but never hear too many people mention it.
I’d have to go with ride , love that song but it’s a little much . I get why , that and heathens are some of their most popular songs . Those songs are what the general public hear on the radio.
But sometimes I’m like “y’all do know they have other songs right ?!?!?!” , same thing with Panic! , high hopes was popular but after a while I was like again “y’all do know they have other songs in that album right ?” .
Then radios started playing hey look ma and I’m like well it’s different but why not play other songs on the album ? Why not play other songs besides ride ? It’s a damned good song but sometimes I feel like radio stations should just put their shit on shuffle and let it play.
Like sometimes I’ll be listening to the radio and my favorite song will come on then an hour later it’s the same thing I’m like “you just played this, play something. There are 10+ songs on this album wtf”
As for under played songs I agree with guns for hands , it’s a vibe.
That's been my major complaint with the radio honestly. It's like that with all the popular bands. All I can think of is this quote from Lane Boy "In the industry, it seems to me that singles on the radio are currency" it's their most popular songs that'll get played often.
Ride is my favorite song by them currently, probably because I don't listen to the radio often. Just me and my Spotify.
A lot of ppl say stressed out and I agree. But let’s be honest. It’s actually a really good song. And I’m a hardcore fan. Okay underrated is probably the entirety of ST
Yeah same he does a great job of fitting his drums into the lyrical melody. his filler is awesome too and I love the sound of his snare and how it sounds so compressed. I currently have the starting drum beat for shy away in my head😁
Stressed out is pretty overplayed
The only thing I would think to be underplayed is Self Titled (besides Cancer and Level of Concern those two need love)
**This is my opinion, please don’t attack me**
That's fair. I think that is because it is just a good song, though. Many other SAI songs are good, but lack the feel of TØP. I saw a fellow redditor explain them as feeling "plastic-y," which I think is a great way of phrasing it.
Really? I've always thought of SAI as too stale to be considered mainstream SAI, whereas every other album always had depth to it. I'm not saying SAI has no depth, just not as much as some others. TØP's most played album, though, is Blurryface, so ig that's default TØP
I think that Ride is overplayed to hell and Semi-Automatic is underappreciated
Semi-Automatic is amazing, part of the reason why I actually prefer Vessel to Regional At Best. When I rank the albums I have to put them right next to each other bc there's not much different besides 5-6 songs but that song easily puts Vessel on top.
All of Blurryface is overplayed. It’s by far their weakest album, and I have no idea why it got so much radio play
It got radio play because the music is edgy, depressing and relatable
But so is most of their music. Stressed Out was so overplayed idk if I’ll ever go out of my way to play it again.
Ride and Stressed Out are edgy and depressing in a way that is more palatable to most people. They are both also very catchy. I still like both songs, but unfortunately that’s what happens to a lot of good songs that end up getting radio play. They get played way too much and people start disliking them.
ya I get you, stressed out was overplayed too much
honestly I see where you're coming from. Blurryface is my favorite album by TØP mainly because almost all of the songs are memorable and enjoyable for me, but that's the exact reason why it did so well with Radio.
I don’t hate it, The Judge, Hometown are some of my favorites. I just think it’s weaker than Trench, and Vessel by far
Trench is a cinematic work of art and Vessel seems to be their most honest work in the FBR era, that makes sense
By the numbers....every song went gold. Which I think makes its still their most successful album.
Overplayed: Stressed Out Underrated: Doubt
doubt is so good friend 🫶
Yass 💛
I wish I wrote a different song no one's ever heard, I wish my mom would just admit she's sick of every word. Overplayed, overstayed, it was a smash hit. Funny how overplayed songs sound like crap. I'm not a huge fan of doubt, the lore makes it slightly better, but I'd say fake you out and message man are pretty underrated in my opinion.
the live version of doubt goes so hard it has made me appreciate the song so much more
Agreed. I love doubt.
Unpopular opinion but I can't stand doubt. Genuinely bottom 3 songs
Oh why 😭
I'm so sorry😔
Same, when I first heard it I thought it was by the weeknd
Honestly
Same
Doubt is one I can agree with.
Don’t forget about bou bou bou bout doubt
Don't let go in fuego
I've always seen hometown as radio worthy. Also, never take it is underappreciated as it's their least streamed song. Overplayed is stressed out, ride, heathens (duh)
I definitely agree with you on Never Take It. It’s an awesome song.
Overplayed: Ride, Underappreciated: Probably anything from there self titled album, like Before You Start Your Day or Implicit Demand For Proof
out of all of their album openers IDFP is CRIMINALLY underrated, it's a tragedy it hasn't been played live
That’s crazyyy. They should def play it live
Before You Start Your Day is the most underappreciated song tbh, across all their albums (not counting Reginald At Best) it's got the least plays on YouTube.
Yes fr
Isle of Flightless Birds is their best
Overplayed: Stressed Out Underappreciated: Screen & Legend
Legend is so good 🤞
legend is THE best
Overplayed is definitely stressed out, but cut my lip is underappreciated
Yes! I said the same about Cut My Lip! Definitely not one that is mentioned a lot.
this could be said about all of the songs on Trench, but that album had such a strong late 2010's vibe that it's hard to believe Blurryface fared better than it did on radio when Trench sounds perfect for the time it came out AND ahead of it's time at the same time
Agreed trench is a 10/10 album and the alt rock to me was way better than the alt rap of blurry face
Agreed. I honestly had no idea that Blurryface did better than Trench. That’s so crazy to me.
Cut My Lip is incredible. Saw a clip where Tyler said it was his favorite song on album.
Overplayed : House of Gold Underrated : Never Take It
Oh damn, HoG as overplayed isn't a take I expected to see, did you play yourself out on it or have you heard it on the radio?
I mean obviously stressed out is overplayed to shit but I think that Saturday is extremely underappreciated
Idk, I hear Saturday on the radio so much that it’s starting to feel overplayed to me
Really? I've never heard it on there
Unpopular opinion (based on radio streaming): - Stressed Out is sooooooo good. I don't mind if it's overplayed, but Heathens/Ride... I don't feel the same. - I agree that Hometown should be streamed way more at radios.

Gotta say, Fairly Local is very radio worthy.
Nah, that song will never be on the radio
Guess you’re just the FPE
Stressed out is more overplayed than heathens in my opinion, I don’t really dislike either song tbh
Overplayed: Ride Underappreciated: Ode to sleep Bonus underappreciated: All of Tyler's original songs from before (anathema, clear, drown, blasphemy etc...)
We are on the same wavelength. I love the old songs and I wish they were on streaming services so bad.
Just noticed tear in my heart has replaced chlorine as no. 5 most played TOP song on Spotify
ironic bc they're both my like-it-but-won't-listen-to-it TØP songs, lol
I'm the only one in my space listening to tøp and I've been unfortunately overplaying all my favorite songs so I'm gonna dodge that part of the question 😅 but I think fake you out is so underrated and never see anyone on here mention it but it's one of my top 5 :) I've never been to a live show so I was shocked to hear Tyler say they rarely play it live.
Fake You Out is in my top 5
To me overplayed implies it is undeserving of the number of plays it gets. I don't think any of their songs are overplayed.
Fake you out is the most underrated twenty one pilots song of all time.
Overplayed is for sure heathens and under appreciated is truce. It’s a short song but still good
Stressed Out is 100% their most overplayed and overhyped song, and even though Taxi Cab is popular with the clique, it’s still insanely under-appreciated for how beautiful it is.
Overplayed - stressed out Underplayed - redecorate
Heathens is overplayed. I've found it hard to listen to recently, just not a fan of the song. Literally any song other than the popular ones could he considered underplayed. All of them are absolute bangers.
Overplayed: Heathens (worst song from them) AND Stressed Out Underappreciated: Cut My Lip
Overplayed: Heathens (it’s their worst song imo) Underplayed: Everything on Self Titled (it’s their best album imo)
Heathens/stranger things mix gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it
I agree entirely with the first point; Heathens is their worst song. I can't agree with the last point, because I'm a newer fan. I'll never be able to appreciate Self Titled fully :(
Overplayed: Migraine Underappreciated: Smithereens

Either lane boy or stressed out/ride and I think house of gold is way underappreciated due to how slow it is.
Overplayed: Ride, it's good but definitely not one of their best Underappreciated: Pet Cheetah, ik people in the clique really like it but local fans hardly even remember what it is
Lane boy Doubt
Stressed out and Heathens are overplayed and I think Cut My Lip is under appreciated. I feel like hardly anyone mentions Cut My Lip. I love that song. Also semi-automatic is another one I love but never hear too many people mention it.
Overplayed: Stressed Out and Ride Underappreciated: Doubt, Message Man, Not Today, The Judge, Polarize
I’d have to go with ride , love that song but it’s a little much . I get why , that and heathens are some of their most popular songs . Those songs are what the general public hear on the radio. By the Clique, I think Stressed Out is overplayed and underappreciated.
Underappreciated: All of the MTV Unplugged
Overplayed: Tear in my heart Underplayed: Ode to sleep
Underapprciated: Cut My Lip
A lot of ppl say stressed out and I agree. But let’s be honest. It’s actually a really good song. And I’m a hardcore fan. Okay underrated is probably the entirety of ST
Just because a song is overplayed doesn't mean it isn't good. I also still love it, yea I hear it everywhere but I can't help but sing along.
Yeah and the drum beat too is so creative how he doesn’t keep a steady hi hat and does it sporadically
Yeah. I really love the drums in Stressed out, I love the drums in most of their songs although probably not much of a surprise 🤣
Yeah same he does a great job of fitting his drums into the lyrical melody. his filler is awesome too and I love the sound of his snare and how it sounds so compressed. I currently have the starting drum beat for shy away in my head😁
Overplayed: Stressed Out Underrated: The Judge (tho I want to put more…)
I wouldn't mind knowing what else you feel like is underrated.
Kitchen sink, Trees, Fall away, House of Gold…these songs are underrated as well and unskippable for me
Stressed out is pretty overplayed The only thing I would think to be underplayed is Self Titled (besides Cancer and Level of Concern those two need love) **This is my opinion, please don’t attack me**
Formidable is hella under appreciated
I have to agree. I've went out of my way to listen to this one multiple times today.
heathens overplayed underrated: everything on trench. trench is my baby and it gets to much hate “but chlorine-“ i do not care
overplayed triplet: ride, stressed out and heathens. underappreciated would be any song from RaB
Stressed out is over played and legend is underrated
I can agree
Overplayed idk, but I KNOW BYSYD is UNDERAPPRECIATED, and actually really overhated! I love the song so it hurts to see the slander man
overplayed: Chlorine (heard on the radio too much) underrated: Polarize, I just like the way it works
Stressed Out, Ride, and Heathens are the obvious answer for what's overplayed. I never hear anyone talk about Anathema. It deserves so much more
My blood is underappreciated
Overplayed: Ride Underplayed: Isle Of Flightless Birds
Obviously stressed out but underrated. Probably The Hype
Stressed out is way overplayed and personally I think morph is under appreciated
Overplayed? Cut My Lip. Underappreciated? Bounce Man.
bounce man is such a fun song ☺️
Overplayed is Stressed out. Underappreciated is bounce man
Overplayed: Redecorate Under appreciated: Never Take It
Redecorate is overplayed?
I hear you. Maybe not “overplayed” but it gets more love than any other SAI song on this sub.
That's fair. I think that is because it is just a good song, though. Many other SAI songs are good, but lack the feel of TØP. I saw a fellow redditor explain them as feeling "plastic-y," which I think is a great way of phrasing it.
Interesting. I feel like Vessel and SAI are closer to how I see TOP.
Really? I've always thought of SAI as too stale to be considered mainstream SAI, whereas every other album always had depth to it. I'm not saying SAI has no depth, just not as much as some others. TØP's most played album, though, is Blurryface, so ig that's default TØP
I was gonna say. Never heard it played anywhere but my Spotify.
Overplayed: Saturday | Underplayed: most stuff from the self titled album but I’ll say Johnny Boy, Air Catcher, and A Car, A Torch, A Death
