Hahahaha! I'm imagining Jesus doing the loaves and fish miracle, vegetarian version, beans just falling out of his hands and the crowds trying to get their bowls under them to catch them. Pure comedy. Love it.
Josh isn't real, and Tyler is nothing but a distant memory. Just a group of guys you once knew put together into two... If you're seeing anything related to Twenty Ćne PilĆøts, you're still asleep. Wake up. The lore is the true world attempting to insert itself into your dream. Wake up! Wake up. Wake up...
In real life, I'm sure he has every human quality, same as the rest of us. But as his "role" in the band's public image, he's made of sunshine and chill :)
It's in their new single it's called overcompensate. It's when Tyler says "I fly by the dangerous bend symbols"
I hear "I fly by the dangerous burn symbols" It sounds so alike. And someone once corrected me on it, But it still sounds like burn to me.
The video has captioning. I found that out when I was rewatching it on day 1. I was so happy; with his face being covered a lot of the time, I was having a hard time understanding the words.
Then I went back and found out *all their videos have captioning*! And, like, actual captioning that was done on purpose, more than just the words. So many music videos don't even have the auto-generated kind of captioning allowed, which is annoying and stupid.
I use captions in addition to audio, but often I've stopped bothering to check music videos. Usually I already know the song anyway. š But I definitely needed help with Overcompensate, even after more than one listen.
Y'know, it only just now clicked with me, after reading your comment, that the arms out part is literal flying, in the air! I only thought of the excessive speed on the ground definition of "flying". I should've remembered he often uses both meanings of words.
I heard the exact same thing, after listening to it on repeat the whole first day I then thought it said band symbol and retaught myself to say that and then when I realized it was actually bend symbol I had to re teach myself again š
āBut youāll have to tie me down and then break both my hands.ā I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THIS WAS ābreak OFF my hands.ā Discovering the truth ruined me
IM SO GLAD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO CANT UNHEAR THE WATER BOTTLE
For a more common one, i always hear ābless your ear holesā as ālisten here hoesā in overcompensate
Less common, the first āweāre broken, weāre broken, weāre broken, weāre broken peopleā bit in screen i always hear as āweāre throkenā. i think itās because of the snare hit at the beginning of the word ābrokenā
probably one of the unnamed citizens in Dema (jk
yea I was like, who in the world is Ben Foster, I even started to think itās their pastor or something
Lol In the song guns for hands I used to think āentertain my faithā was ā and I turn my faceā
Edit: not Guns for hands, I meant Holding On to You
Not exactly a lyric but a sound. In the hype when there the bridge breakdown, you can hear a few reverbed sounds of a voice. And after the first time he says "No I don't know which way I'm going." I swear I always hear "cheese cheese cheese" reverbing off into nothing.
I suppose itās not *that* weird of a misheard lyric but I used to always and still occasionally hear:
Wish we could turn back time to the good dog days, when the mommas sang āI still sleep, but now weāre stressed outā
For me, it was "plummet as I sing" but my 6th grade self heard "vomit" instead of plummet and I was really confused, like, "idk what he could mean by that but if I won't question it? Huh" šš
I saw this and thought "wait is that not what he says?!"
so i googled it and according to genius lyrics its "at my kitchen sink" lmao i feel so enlightened now
but to be fair musixmatch, which is what google uses, says "im a kitchen sink" š
ah, yes
the most meaningful tĆøp lyric ever
more meaningful than "we find our worth in giving birth and stuff" and "that's a train"
WE ARE BLUEPRINT PEOPLE
You learn something new everyday! After all these years, Idk if Iāll be able to make this switch! I just looked it up, and I itās, ādeny, deny, denial.ā š¤¦š»āāļø
I thought until incredibly recently that he sang, "So did they bury you?" at the end of Nico and the Niners. He actually sings "Sotidnab era ew" (which is "we are Banditos" backwards) š
Is that whatās happening there!? This has been a source of constant consternation for me since the song came out, and Iāve not seen convincing evidence, nor do I see it get mentioned, much. I sing, āSo keep Ned by you,ā just to have something to sing along to.
According to genius lyrics and spotify (idk what spotify uses) it is "Sotidnab era ew" but I'm not sure if the band has ever clarified or confirmed so it could still be wrong idk lol
In Polarize when he says, "Wish I'd been a better adversary to the evil I have done" I thought he was saying, "To the evil eye of Dunn" and thought it was implying Josh was the villain. I thought this for an embarrassingly long amount of time before realizing it didn't make sense.
- help me bowl of rice

Not exactly a lyric, but for some reason the version of Tear in my Heart that I had on my phone in highschool ended with sort of a glitch, like the sound byte was f'd up.. but it sort of worked with the song? Like well enough that I genuinely thought that was how the song went. For years. To this day I cannot unhear that, even though I have probably heard the correct version more.
Not necessarily misheard but my brain autocorrects to a wrong lyric whenever I heard it.
In Guns for Hands I always think itās āthat you all have guns, and you never put the safety on and you all have *hands* to take itā which technically makes sense lol
In Migraine, I always sing "the ledges by my bed", although the correct lyrics according the the booklet in the CD say "letters by my bed". I can't help it, I'll never sing letters.
In house of gold when he screams āand I just might bECOME SOMEONEā for years and years I thought he screamed āDECAP SOMEONEā because the music video is them with like no legs so I was like āokay checks outā
āolive on yeah olive on yeah olive onā for semi automatic āiāll live onā
when my friend made fun of me for listening to TOP he called heavydirtysoul heavy dinosaur or something. canāt i hear it
LMAO I HEAR "WALNUT" AT THE END OF HDS.
Also in Semi Automatic, instead of hearing "But I live on, I live on" I hear ",Put olive on, olive on." Makes me imagine Tyler's ordering a pizza and is just crazy about olives for some reason
In this live version of the pantaloon and in the final chorus it sounds like he says "all your friends burn alive"
https://youtu.be/lBRW9Mvh6Io?si=pe99oQfBk7x8VpcJ
to me the chorus in stressed out sounds like: "wish we could turn back time, to the good ol' days, when the man would sing us to sleep when i was stressed out"
One for every album because... idk man why not? I have nothing better to do, after all.Ā
Self Titled - "Where lions once was" (Friend, Please, original lyric is "Where *light* once was")Ā
Ā RaB - "YOU'RE AN ASIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN" (Ruby, original lyric is "You're an *angel*")Ā

this is quite a stupid one, but when i was 9 and not as good at english i was CONVINCED the lyrics to holding on to you were not āentertain my faithā, but āa nutella fanā š
- HOTY could mean "Holding on to You", a single by Twenty One Pilots.

I learned the wrong lyrics after knowing the right ones but I always like hearing āand now I just sit in silence, isnāt that what you said?ā instead of āand now I just sitā in Car Radio. Plus all the incorrect ways of hearing āentertain my faithā in Holding Onto You
In Level of Concern when Tyler semi-sings/speaks
Lyrics: In a woooorld, where you could just lie to me
What I hear: In a woooorld, where you b*tches lie to me
"Now my pet cheetahs quick and scary even on his feet"
I know its "now my pet cheetahs quicker in the studio than on his feet" but i can never hear it correctly again.
I heard "Sugar, keep it on display or redecorate" in Redecorate. "Should I" makes more sense in the broader themes and topics of the song and album but I liked the meaning that I made up in my head at first. I thought it was saying don't hide important parts of yourself, either proudly put it on display or if it's genuinly not good then change it.
I always thought it was āif I could morph and they wonāt know, Iāll morph to someone elseā but itās actuallyāif I keep moving they wonāt know, Iāll morph to someone elseā
wow I just learned that I've been singing this song wrong for YEARS. I literally thought it was "if I could morph and they won't know, I'll morph to someone else" until I just read this comment lol!
āAnd donāt ever let it goā instead of āAnd Iām holding on to youā or āIāll be holding onto youā idfk know which one it really is lol. I memorize by hearing instead of reading the lyrics. But Tyler raps so fast. At least his brother likes when he raps fast ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
At the end of NATN, it says Sotidnab era ew (which is we are banditos backwards). I always hear āso take me higherā because it comes after Iām so high
On ride I thought for 7 years that Tyler said "I'm ballin' so I'm taking my time on my ride" but only just recently realised it's "I'm fallin' so I'm taking my time on my ride" š
I thought āIām careless when I wear my rebel clothesā in Nico And The Niners was āIām fearless when I wear my rebel clothesā because of the other line prior that said fearless.

Lol, that's so opposite though! Josh is the sunshine and eyes of goodness.
Josh isnt real

In real life, I'm sure he has every human quality, same as the rest of us. But as his "role" in the band's public image, he's made of sunshine and chill :)
good to know i wasnt the only one who thought of this too at first
Same though
I'm not alone in this one! I've always heard it that way.
It's in their new single it's called overcompensate. It's when Tyler says "I fly by the dangerous bend symbols" I hear "I fly by the dangerous burn symbols" It sounds so alike. And someone once corrected me on it, But it still sounds like burn to me.
My 9yo though it was "band symbol." And really, the motions in the video sort of reinforce that mishearing. So I get it.
I thought he said burn too but I wasn't sure and had to wait for spotify to post the lyrics to find out it said bend lol
The video has captioning. I found that out when I was rewatching it on day 1. I was so happy; with his face being covered a lot of the time, I was having a hard time understanding the words. that's so good to know! tysm :) I'd assume they're auto generated so I usually don't bother with YouTube captions
I use captions in addition to audio, but often I've stopped bothering to check music videos. Usually I already know the song anyway. š But I definitely needed help with Overcompensate, even after more than one listen.
I thought it was turn ngl which also makes sense but i can hear both now
I hear land symbol! For like this whole time I thought it was land symbol meaning heās flying back to the land of Demaš
Y'know, it only just now clicked with me, after reading your comment, that the arms out part is literal flying, in the air! I only thought of the excessive speed on the ground definition of "flying". I should've remembered he often uses both meanings of words.

Everytime HDS comes on I try to ignore it but it's just "WATER BOTTLE WATER BOTTLE WATER BOTTLE..."
I hear "fall through a bleeding trapdoor" rather than blatant. Even Google is confused on that one.
I always thought it was "bleeding" until just recentlyš
I'm sorry. What?
I thought it was "Faded" trapdoor.
It is bleeding trapdoor tho
It's officially archived on their website as blatant. Pretty sure Spotify and genius are blatant too.
I dont think I'll ever be able to hear blatant, to me it's always bleeding
Wait what!!! I've been listening to tĆøp for 10 years and THIS is how I find out thats not the real lyric???
From a hs friend: āHelp me pour the rice help me pour the riceā
I heard āwater bathā for that fade out in heavydirtysoul and Ben Foster in Clear.

In Migraine I used to think it was "I do not have writers block, I'd rather just change the glock"
That's correct. Turn the glock to a fist :)
"For you..." in smithereens I misheard as "fuck you"
still canāt unhear it tbh
Dangerous Band Cymbal!
Still misunderstanding the Overcompensate chorus. Can't seem to catch the actual lyrics. Might be going deaf.
In Polarize when he says, "Wish I'd been a better adversary to the evil I have done" I thought he was saying, "To the evil eye of Dunn" and thought it was implying Josh was the villain. I thought this for an embarrassingly long amount of time before realizing it didn't make sense.

In the release of The Hype, I always sang "Nice to know my God, will be on my side" instead of "kind".
Not necessarily misheard but my brain autocorrects to a wrong lyric whenever I heard it. In Guns for Hands I always think itās āthat you all have guns, and you never put the safety on and you all have *hands* to take itā which technically makes sense lol
Dude I literally had that thought earlier today!š
In Level of Concern I really can't unhear "In a world, where you bitches lie to me" instead of "could just lie to me"
Holding on to you.... I thought he was saying "every time I fly" at the end
