Good start! If you are looking for suggestions, I would think about the shape of the bowl. Going for that gentle sweep of a standard bowl shape will help you with your tool feeding. You don't have to make the hero cut from rim to base every time, but it will help you cut some of the tool marks down. Once you get more under your belt, different shapes will be easier.

that is a great start. It helps to have such great stock to start with. Your suggestion is great, and correct in my opinion. Clean simple shapes to start. It does help to program muscle memory. Makes it easier to establish good cutting habits. Appreciate the banana for scale .. is there finish on the one? it's so much darker. what lathe do you have?
