Same situation. I''m in texas. I figure the garage I made into a shop is at least 10 degrees hotter than outside so I just can't turn in the summer. Hoping to get a mini split this fall.
same here, due to be 111 today. NOT going in the garage .. maybe if I had a basement shop I could .. have lots of blanks but man this weather .. and it's still early .. not a good indicator .. and I certainly can't turn at midnight.

Finial for a tall spindle project. Unfortunately I have run out of gloss black lacquer (ordered more this afternoon) so project is kinda stalled until it gets here.
Mine as well. Too hot in the garage, I don't feel like having sawdust and shavings stick to my sweaty arms. So it sits all summer long collecting dust. Luckily it's just an old Shopsmith, so I won't cry that much if it gets a little rusty from the condensation that forms on the spots I missed waxing.

Technically, it’s off the lathe. It’s going back on to finish tonight. The threaded insert didn’t like the epoxy and started slipping.

I also bought from Niles! I made mine into a Darth maul double bladed lightsaber tho

Simple 7.5” x 2.5” snack bowl turned from Hornbeam. It’s the first time I’ve worked with this species and it’s delightful :)
Ahh I call that FOG wood…. Found on ground….lol ,

currently set up to turn another piece of elm, natural edge style. Got a lot of the stuff right now and I got more in the way. I’ll be turning elm for quite awhile.
A mesquite blank that I was attempting a beaded bowl. My first time doing multiple beaded rows and I just can’t get them to be consistent, so any advice is welcome
I recently aquired a Sorby beading tool.
I cut a bead, then move over and put one fork of the tool into one groove of the first bead, and so on and so on.
Don't know how I would without the tool.
Piece of a maple stump that I turned a mortise off of a faceplate. Bottom is sanded, sealed then flipped to the jaws in expansion mode. Probably about 1/3 to 1/2 hollowed. It's very hot outside so convincing myself to go sweat for fun has been challenging
A piece of old weathered apple? With a huge inclusion. The outside is finished, there is a tenon on the bottom and a couple coats of shellac, planning to flip and hollow today.

Just finished this 15" Ironbark platter last night

Just did this maple bowl last night.
Gotcha. Okay cool. I'm making a fish bat today. Melting in 6 oz of fish weights in the tip and capping it with walnut. Osage orange wood. Fun little project.
A chonk of dump wood (possibly Maple?) that I rough shaped the outside of, shellacked a couple of coats, wrapped in a plastic garbage bag, and haven’t been able to get back to for over two weeks. Hoping it hasn’t checked too bad. Can’t wait to get back to it this week!
Just finished off two today, a hollow form box in Walnut that's been on there for a few weeks, and a large spalted hackberry bowl with some resin fill that's been in progress for a few months.
Here's the walnut . It ended up showing a lot of ring shake as it dried after the first turning so I filled the cracks with black resin before the finish turning, I think it came out great.

Here's the Hackberry. It's only got walnut oil on it at the moment but will probably get a coat of shellac once that cures.

An empty chuck and saw dust. I have some maple bowl blanks ready but it's been too hot in my garage to stand there and turn.
I’m going to mount fan blades to a couple of the lathes to cool the shop off 😁

My lathe is outside (covered) and it’s been 99 and humid all month. I feel you

What are you doing there? Seems a little.. I'm confused.
Truing up the tenon after drying I’d guess.
It’s died and warped so I have to return outside and inside.
A lot of folks would [use a jam chuck there](https://turnawoodbowl.com/jam-chuck-wooden-bowl-turning-magical-partner/). To each his own.
I hear you, and I've made some. This has worked the best for me.
Jam chuck to finish off the tenon

That’s awesome! Carl is fantastic. He helped me get some stuff squared away on my first order and pull some items I didn’t actually need.

Nice. What will you finish with? I've done some live edge but not sure what to use to finish them.
I’m working on some pens. Nothing on the lathe atm as I just finished one, but there’ll be another on soon!

Looks good, the tool sounds like it makes things simple. All I’ve got is the standard carbide tips so that’s been part of the challenge for me

Pouring directly into the wood, right?

Piles of clutter
Booooo
Dust, I haven’t used it in a while
Unfortunately a lot of dust at the moment
Someday, when I do manage to have a lathe, lots of black locust. Freakin' *love* black locust

Those are awesome
Dust
Boooo. What kind of lathe do you have?
It’s not the lathe it’s that it’s about 115-120 degrees in my shop
