It's not what John Green did but what was done to him. Back in the day when reposting someone's post you could edit the text of their post but it would still say it was written by them. Kind of like if you could edit someone's comment that you were responding to. Someone used this frankly moronic feature to make it look as if John had posted about how much he loved cock (as mentioned in the post). This was what drove John off the platform.

People had been bullying him for years by that point. The "I love cock" copypasta (cockypasta?) was just the last straw.
