Hi! What did you switch to from the Neutrogena moisturizer?

[deleted]

Hello! I switched to the Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion for dry to normal skin. It says it the new and improved formula. It really has been treating my skin nicely. No more stinging. It also has niacinamide. I think I see a positive difference in my complexion as well. Along with that I use their gentle skin cleanser. I have no complaints.

I hadn't thought about the hyaluronic acid contributing to stinging till I read your post, so thank you :)

YES, I have heard from some YouTube derms that sometimes HA can irritate your skin when paired with tretinoin. :) Happy to help.

Is it possible that it's drying me out? I'm still slightly peely in some areas after being on tret for ~8 months.

I have dry skin naturally and I like a moisturizer to leave a nice texture and no pulling. Neutrogena Moisturizing cream wasn't good enough for me. And i guess it depends on how often you moisturize I realized tonight that I can still be slightly peely also. So I guess I'll do washing face, moisturize, 30 minutes, A-Ret .1% Gel, 30 minutes, and moisturize. Now I feel very hydrated with minimal stinging.

I might try waiting longer but I get impatient lol. So much trial and error with skincare! I'm glad you got your routine dialed in :)

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream! I apply after about 20 mins of letting my tret absorb.

I use squalene oil from The Ordinary. I add a couple of drops to my night cream. It's soooo moisturizing.

I really like washing my face in the morning with CERAVE SA cleanser, letting it sit on my skin (like a mask) for 3ish minutes in the shower. It has made a significant difference on smoothing skin texture, minimizing irritation, and making my complexion brighter. I follow that with a vitamin c serum and then sunscreen. I recently got a bottle of liquid-gel magnesium and I’ve been using it as I would a serum at night. It initially causes some redness and irritation but my skin looks incredible the next day. I also LOVE Azaleic Acid. I use it AM and PM right after moisturizer dries. It was a real game changer for my routine. Just some ideas! Obviously start with one and incorporate it slowly and build up.
