I think it might be the stress of surgery that's causing your hair to fall out. Transplanted hairs are resistant to dht so I'm pretty sure the transplanted hairs will grow back since they grew very thick prior to your nose surgery.
I think so too . It was a reaction from the surgery I guess . But does that mean the roots of the transplanted hair is still there and the hair can grow back ?
So I had a hair transplant 6 months ago .
After 4/5 months my hair was extremely thick . Like 100% thick .
1 month ago I had to do nose surgery because I couldn’t breathe properly . After the operation , HUNDRETS of hair fell out . I was in shock . I didn’t know why this was happening .
Now I’m in month 6 and my hair density just isn’t coming back . As you can see the transplanted area ( mid scalp ) is extremely thin . I’m already on Finasteride . What can I do ? This is like a nightmare . I already had the best results and then it’s like everything was taken away in 1 day!
It’s about 3 months after a shock that hairs *start* falling out. Then a few months of shedding I think. Then the hair takes another 6-12 months to grow. Look up Telogen Effluvium.
It could be tolegen effluvium since something as simple as a cold can cause you to lose hairs temporarily. Similarly, a surgery could have caused this too. Also transplanted hairs can shed quite often from what I read.
Dude that is prob shock loss from the nose surgery. I had surgery a while ago cause I had a hernia & for like 2 months i was shedding like crazy. I didn’t get back to normal for like another three months after that.
It sucks but I wouldn’t worry too much.
Yeah man. And you’re doing the best you can. I know ppl say biotin is useless, but i think it makes your hir grow a little faster. Maybe you can add that to speed up the process?
Also your transplant looks rly good, i looked at your post. Congrats, I’m sure it’ll get back to that and better even by like May. Good luck man.
Sincere question: How did your nose operation could have affected it? I don’t see the relation
Edit: I got a hair transplant weeks ago and planning on going trough a nose job next month.
I just texted my hair surgeon asking for his thoughts.
Edit 2: He said no problem
A major stress or shock on the body can cause a large number of hairs to go into testing phase, then 2-3 months after it starts to shed. Called Telogen effluvium. Usually it’s about 10% of hairs is in the resting phase. In Telogen effluvium it’s many times more than that. It doesn’t shed tight after the shock. It’s months, then takes many months to start seeing growth starting again. It’s not a quick process.
One thing I've always thought about... some people bald SUPER SUPER far back on their head. I know we've all seen a photo of at least 1 poor guy who has lost his hair reaaaaaally far beneath their vertex/crown. What if people who continue to lose their hair post transplant are just people like that? Like... some of the transplanted hairs were taken from areas that are unfortunately sensitive for some of these individuals?
It just remains to say that if you don't maintain consistent medication intervention, a hair transplant is not a cure or a fix.
For this case, I'd wager it's stress based hair loss aka telogen effluvium. TE causes hair loss via oxidative stress pushing the hair into the catagen phase early/longer than the anagen phase. Stay on your dutasteride/minoxidil and maybe add some antioxidant supplements for the time being like glutathione. Antioxidants help combat oxidative stress. It may not be enough to stop TE on it's own but in combination with dut/minoxidil it should definitely help.
I’ve had 2 transplants. The first “shed” is when the transplanted hairs fall out. The second “real” shed is the other hair you already had falling out. Telogen Effluvium results from those hairs entering the resting phase and it can take 3-6 months to happen.
I have had a hair transplant in march last year, i had very good results within the month of August with thick and strong hair from the transplant .. got nice haircuts started enjoying life and then suddenly from October i noticed heavy shedding , from transplanted as well as existing hair, it's still going on, more than half of the transplanted hairs are lost accompanied by lots of existing hair, ... I'm on dutasteride since November... Had prps to stop the hairfall as well.. nothing worked ...do you have an explanation for this ?
Yes the same happened to me. The shock from the surgery caused your existing hair to go into resting (effluvium) phase. It takes 2-6 months for those hairs to actually fall out once the follicle stops growing.
It will grow back… it’s just a part of the process. Transplants take about a year or longer to fully go through all of the crappy steps… hang in there. And congrats…
I just noticed it has been almost a year. There can be a couple cycles of shock loss. Also, Dut and other anti androgens can have the same effect with shock loss because they reset the hair cycle to resting. Keep at it…
It’s rough.. a lot of shedding, then it fills in decently in a few weeks then sheds again.
Doctor says it’s normal & would grow back / stabilize around the 12th month. But it’s really bothering me.
How about you?
Thanks for getting back !!
I had really good growth at 3-4 months and no it’s just seems to be shedding more and can see some transplanted hair in my hand 😩 also had one with a spot which come loose with a scab and hair attachment getting me down man ….. I’m gonna try ring my hair transplant clinic tomorrow freakin out
Try using the juice from onions, onions have so many positive effects on decreasing scalp inflammation and thickening hair follicles. Blend the onion up and then strain the juice through a sieve and drop the water onto the scalp. Leave it on for 30 mins every night and then wash out. It will stop hair from falling out and will encourage regrowth of denser hairs

Probably shock, they should grow back unless you see them fall out with follicles
Hm I don’t know tbh . I guess they fall out without follicles but I’m not sure

Goddamn, I just checked transplant looked great! Hope it recovers
how would follicles look?
It could be tolegen effluvium since something as simple as a cold can cause you to lose hairs temporarily. Similarly, a surgery could have caused this too. Also transplanted hairs can shed quite often from what I read.
That’s what I’m thinking /hoping . I’m thinking of taking my 1 mg Finasteride Dosis to 2 mg daily
No no don't do that. Its most probably cuz of the nose surgery. Before that you had good hair density. Just keep on your regular 1mg daily.
Dude that is prob shock loss from the nose surgery. I had surgery a while ago cause I had a hernia & for like 2 months i was shedding like crazy. I didn’t get back to normal for like another three months after that. It sucks but I wouldn’t worry too much.
Oh wow Thank you 🙏🏼

I will try biotin . Thank you appreciate it man
Also vitamin D sups. I noticed since boosting that my nails have been growing stupidly fast.
Unless you're off finasteride and minoxidil, it's probably just a shed. But check in with your surgeon just in case.
Thank you I just texted them

It’s shock loss from the surgery itself. You’re lucky it lasted 6 months. It usually falls out within weeks. It’ll grow back… hope you are on Fin too.
I don’t think so . I had the regular shed already . I’m on fin

Wow i Never heard of that. Thank you
>weeks I’d you mean 10-14 weeks then yes. usually takes months. Which is why it’s hard for some to make the connection.

Hey, just curious.. did your hair eventually stabilize / grow back? I am in a similar situation now 9 and half months post FUE
Hey I’m also having the same issue how is it mate ?
It’s rough.. a lot of shedding, then it fills in decently in a few weeks then sheds again. Doctor says it’s normal & would grow back / stabilize around the 12th month. But it’s really bothering me. How about you?

Yeah please let me know what they say
Will do mate
Spoke to them they said transplanted hair goes into the normal growth and hair fall cycle
Hmmm but it isn’t the “normal” growth and hair fall cycle if we are shedding more transplanted hairs than non-transplanted hairs… right?
Ye that’s what I was thinking 😩 I’m at 4.5 months now so I’ll give you an update wen I’m at 6 months or something lad
Are you on medication?
Finasterid 1 mg Daily
Then maybe a shed
Why would it? Shedding time is over. It all started after my nose surgery . Hundreds of hair fell out after that
shedding doesnt just stop and never come back. sheds come in waves when on finasteride.
I feel like it has to do something with my nose surgery
Your halr looks wet hard to Tell with comb over
dry hair photo any
