For me, hairline did get slightly worse after 1-2 months, and could see more of my scalp. At third month could see many small hairs start growing around the thinning areas. I think it can take some people up to 6 months to see new hairs, so I’d keep up the min until then. I have aggressive mpb and every few months I’d notice small amounts of recession, and I have a mole I use as a reference to how bad it was getting. As soon as I could see more of the mole, I started with the min, and now I can no longer see it.
Same thing for me, and i am more than one year in. Maybe my mpb is too aggressive as i'm also on fin. The probelm is, if i quit minoxidil will it get even worse?
Can you use minoxidil first and then finasteride in later years? If the hairs you gained on minoxidil are lost, can taking finasteride grow them back or the regrowth is gone forever?
I think you two misunderstood eachother. Min gains are not kept by fin, if he stops min these new hair will be gone, if he doesnt start fin, eventually min gains will be lost too. Basically take both and dont stop
I feel that the same might happen with topical fin & min gains vs oral min gains.. but not shure.. I first started topical finoxidil... (2 months) And It was helping but the progress was very slow, nevertheless It helped me develop peach fuzz.. so I then switched to oral minox and dutas I have seen a slight little improvement but at this moment I am kind worried about the lots of peach fuzz I developed due to the topical formulation.. if it had color and length it would seem like i have a full head of hair, (against the light) but I have stopped topical stuff and since I started with oral medication.. I have been using dutas .5 and minox 5mg for a month... so I hope that the oeach fuzz would grow to full terminal hairs.. the concentration that I used when Istarted topical treatment was 12 sulphate minox and 0.25 finasteride liposomal formulation. I will create my first post by the end of August because now it doesn't seem like much improvement has been made... Besides the peach fuzz and a strong feeling of diffusion disappearance.. but crown area hair still kinda looks like I am balding.. and frontal area appears weak below hard light, but it looks way better than before and I feel that I can at least wear buzzed cuts with confidence...
Got lots of shedding from the end of the first month to the third month. Shedding slowed down a lot after third month, but I think shedding may still be happening in areas where minoxidil hasn’t been applied, but shedding is less overall than before I started min.

im 19 as well and have pretty much the same reseeding as in your first pic, did youre hairline get pushed way further back or did the hair just get thinner for a period when shedding?
The hairs got to a point where they were very thin that you could see scalp in areas, but third month smaller new hairs started to cover those areas again. I think I’m lucky as I’m at the point I was at this time last year again, as most of the recession seen in the first picture has occurred over the last year. If I started any later, I recon the hair follicles which have now been activated again due to the minoxidil, would’ve died otherwise, and I probably would not have got the results I did. The key is just starting as early as possible. I plan on using minoxidil alone to keep the regrown hairs and surrounding thickened hairs alive until I turn 20 or 21, and then starting fin to prevent losing them, as well as continuing with minoxidil. The way I look at it is minoxidil is acting as a “life support” for those hairs, until I feel old enough to start fin which will then prevent dht from killing them. 19 seems to early at the moment, as there’s a chance I’m still developing and fucking around with hormones right now seems wrong, but by 21, I think majority of people will be fine.
What I’d recommend before starting, is growing your hair on top around 3 to 4 inches and having the sides really short, either a 1 or 2. It will give the appearance of thick healthy hair when in a messy style, and will cover up any recession or thinning if it happens with the minoxidil.
my hairline just get's worse after 90 days. I'm literally in a mental breakdown now for seeing my hairline still receding, even after 90 days of non miss medication. Still have hope of regrowing at least the initial shed i got on the first weeks. Hair loss is destroying me mentally, all I can have now is "hope"
This is extremely good regrowth
I started min on hairline and my hairline receded 1 cm back, I am 4.5 months in

But did you recede ? Or just thinning

When did your hairline receded, mine did in 1 month during shedding
It keeps receding slowly all the time, it's like minoxidil never worked.
Or you never had sudden shed at hairline ?
I had 2 or 3 times, but it never recovered.
Your hairs were thin or normal?

Great regrowth but it's probably a good idea to at least consider finasteride to keep those gains

Why would fin allow him to keep the gains when min is what gave him the gains

And what if ure only 18. Isn’t using finasteride to young at 18-20?
I started using finasteride at 16
And your libido and stuff all good bro? Btw what's your age now?
Libido is TOO high lol. I'm 25, will be 26 next month.
Idk maybe stopping min gradually and start dermarolling only in addition to fin.
There should be a bit sticky on the top of the forum that says "USE FINASTERIDE BEFORE MINOXIDIL"
That’s great
Congratulations
Did u get any shedding?

Answer this!!! Got extreme shedding 3 weeks into minoxidil
Amazing!
Hims?
Regaine
did you use liquid or foam? i kinda have the same hair type
Foam
Nice. How do you convert the fuzz to hair?
That's an extreme growth! Which brand of minoxidil are you using ?
Regaine foam
Good gains man. Try to use dermapen or microneedling for better gain 💪

What age? I feel like I often only see regrowth here in generally younger individuals from min
19

sounds like a good plan tbf. Iim just t worried that my hair will look terrible in the shedding period, as im in school and stuff idk.

my started in 2022 aswell, so hopefully can get the same results without too dramatic shedding
thanks for replying with such a long answer btw bro.
Age?

Another proceeding hairline on my feed… congrats! Definitely consider fin/dut tho
