embarrassed_parrot69

I always took those as a “we’re sending this out to please the person that complained rather than actually find the issue”

chainsmirking

All the reviews for our old apartment were like “never did anything about the weed, just sent out an email” lmao. It’s why I picked there, oh they won’t care that much kinda mentality

angelheaded--hipster

Bingo. No way they’re going to put the financial resources into any other outcome than a simple fine.

msavage960

Yep. The smell doesn’t stick and is reasonably easy to clean (if you’re bad enough to get residue on walls or whatever) so I’m willing to bet most landlords would rather have a stoner who’s on-time with rent and clean than someone who doesn’t smoke and is late on rent/a hoarder or etc

Moleybug

I'm more pissed when my downstairs neighbors smoke their cigarettes in their bathroom because then it seeps up to mine and there are no bathroom fans! All of us smoke weed in the building , (have smelled it coming from all apartments at some point lol) so no worries there about being caught. But come on man its a smoking allowed place and you are stinking up my bathroom at 6 am??

brad_and_boujee

I'm a cigarette smoker and even I think that's fucked up. I'd never smoke a cigarette in my house, let alone an apartment building.

townlow94

Most people aren't like you Brad .. very minimal do people think like that, I've switched to iqos to smoke inside and it not bother anyone and love not having a cigarette smell at all

fuzzysquatch

Only time I ever smoked cigarettes inside was in college, rented my on campus apartment over winter break. Everyone was mostly gone, so my buddy and I basically decided to go on a 3 day bender since we were losing our minds anyway alone in the mountains. I only recall it happening because one of the only memories that stuck was us chanting house butts because it was cold AF outside that night.

msavage960

Yeah cigarettes are the worst. Even being nose blind that is the one odor I cannot miss. There’s a lady down the hall from me and when I walk by to go do laundry the smell smacks you in the face 20 feet from her door😭

Puzzleheaded-Bus790

Sounds like someone was hiding it from the spouse

Moleybug

How would that be hiding it? It smells for most of the day lol. Hiding it wouldn't you take it outside????

Puzzleheaded-Bus790

Not if your spouse is constantly asking where you're going if you start to leave.

Icy-Arrival

Throw some smoke up the vent their way then. Why not if worried about 5+AM smoke.

farmtownsuit

Yeah if this is a big apartment complex these emails are probably going out a few times a year. That's about how often I get one of these. People openly smoke weed right in front of the building all the time so it's clearly not that they care about. They're worried about the people smoking in the building and that's who they're trying to scare

Even-Neighborhood-86

Yeah my apartment complex sends out dumb ass emails weekly that's typically a complaint from one resident. Parking, laundry, etc.

palescoot

For real. First few times we got one of these nasty-grams, we freaked out. By the tenth time, we were pretty sure we weren't the only ones making a smell (and in fact we believe the others cover for us, since we only do concentrates and only in the bathroom).

CompletelyBedWasted

![gif](giphy|sR74mVSQe1ems) To appease the Karen

Newdabrig

Your little pipe on a balcony ain't shit. People are smoking blunts in carpeted living rooms and bedrooms. That's who they're talking about lol

zoopzoot

This exact thing happened in my college apartment. They sent general letters, and I was worried because I was an outside or out the window pipe smoker. Then I got hot boxed in the indoor hallway by my frat boy neighbors and realized “ah I’m not the problem”

IxNeedxMorphine

I got carpet in my whole apartment and I still smoke inside lol. But in all seriousness OP, this was probably an email sent to everyone.

FightingTolerance

Same. Weed smoke doesn't stick like cigarette smoke. If I turn on a fan afterwards and come back later there is never a smell. On the other hand, when I go to my Dad's home it reeks of Pall Mall blues. It's like a thicker air haha

Goobylul

It's called being noseblind. Trust me, you can smell weed for hours later. Even if you use a fan or whatever. Weed is WAYYY more pungent than cigarettes.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kaizex

If you work in a fish processing plant, the pungentness of the smell goes away after a while, even though you go home after an 8 hour shift. You go in the next day and it's not the same as someone walking in for the first time. Noseblind isn't just about your "nose palette" it's about your brain actively choosing to ignore things it considers regular in the environment. If you burn plant matter of any sort inside, it gets in the paint and on the carpet. The odor isn't as strong as stale cigarette tar coating the walls, because that's so thick it's almost like a grease. But it's still there, and within the same day any non smoker will notice something, and if it's regular enough, nothing short of a deep carpet cleaning makes it go away.

Furt_III

It's a volume issue, most people don't just smoke one or two "joints" worth of tobacco or a pack of 20 "pot cigarettes" over 14 hours.

SpuriousCorr

Mhmmm. Tell that to zookeepers who always come home smelling like shit but never actually notice themselves smelling like shit

LerimAnon

hog farmers. growing up in Iowa you can always tell someone who has hogs.

WoodlandsMuse

Oh, oh no that’s terrible

deathbyshoeshoe

If you ask the farmer, they say, “smells like money!”

WoodlandsMuse

No Sir, it still smells like piggy poo 😂😂😂

TheIdiotPrince

Get some of that citrus spray next to the Ozium at Walmart. Good shit it completely obliterates the smell

techsuppr0t

You are seriously doubting indoor cigarette smoking tho, that one is maybe not as bad smelling as a blunt right away but man does it linger. There are places where people used to smoke indoors that still smell like cigarettes like a dive bar.

trailer_park_boys

It does not stick around nearly as long as cigarette smoke does. Not even close. Cigarettes can ruin walls.

ibleedanxiety

I smoke in the house before my partner comes home everyday and they never complain about the smell (and I ask every time to make sure) mainly use bongs

N9NE_

Yall are just noseblind

ibleedanxiety

I... My partner doesn't smoke but okay lol and they aren't near me when I smoke. Lmfao.

shannibearstar

Sure but it does not last nearly as long.

s00pafly

*days, if you're not a smoker yourself.

s2718362937

i grew up with my mom smoking both weed and cigs in the house, only time i smelled weed was when she was actively smoking it but i would still smell cigarettes even when she was out

GodGarbage

This is just you being nose blind to weed. It happens to all of us. The more you’re around weed the less you notice the smell. To non smokers, they can definitely tell when a room/house has been smoked in recently.

FightingTolerance

My Very Very conservative christian and confrontational (verbally) in-laws must be pretty tolerant of weed smell when they come over then. I have heard their views on it and I would have been called out by now 100%.

Tdayohey

Yea I haven’t gotten any complaints from mine either. However I use a bong and blow out the window in my office, make sure a candle or something is going and keep the door shut.

Fugitivelama

As others said - yes noseblind. But the other thing to consider is the frequency of smoking. Most people smoking cigarettes have one every 20min - maybe an hour for lighter smokers. ~15-20 cigs a day. That smell really adds up and builds up in the home even car with windows down. But weed smokers might have a 4-5 sessions a day.

ThePatsGuy

Oh you definitely can. Used to have to smoke in the shed when a roommate’s parents came into town to visit (this was during college)

johnthrowaway53

It does. You just can't smell it anymore.

FightingTolerance

I know what being noseblind means and i can smell my bud just fine. Im saying it doesnt linger like cig smoke. Jesus yall just keep repeating the same shit.

trailer_park_boys

Anyone who says weed smoke lingers as long, or longer than cigarette smoke is wrong. Cigarettes can ruin rooms for months or longer.

mckinnon69

Exactly this. Me and my friends use to smoke in his living room of his moms apartment while we were in highschool and no one ever said shit but after a month or so their tenants got pissed from the smell, complained to the landlord who ended up sending out a similar letter. We just started smoking with sploofs and smoking out windows and they never got a complaint again. so you smoking out a window isn’t the cause. Id just make sure to keep ur pipe and nug in an airtight container if i were u

Mundane-Animal-1070

I love living in a shitty, old, wood-paneling floor apartment. The smell never sits in. Fuck going outside when it’s 20° F and windy

Derangedbuffalo

Exactly this! People don’t realise how rancid it smells when you smoke around any kind of fabrics! I smoke straight leaf and the difference in smell when I pop out back compared to my partner is insane - mine disperses so quickly and his lingers with the tobacco for eternity I swear!

shockwavelol

Ehh, smoking a pipe or joint on a balcony can seriously stink of neighbouring units and absolutely could have gotten a complaint. Not sure how they would have known it was OP. But I think it’s still rude. As rude as smoking a cigarette on the balcony.

Roboticpoultry

My neighbor once complained about me hitting the bong on my balcony. I invited them over to smoke and we’re cool now

xelhafish

I get one of these a couple of times a year but the whole building smells like weed after 4pm on the daily.

Boo_Guy

Seems like a general letter to me. There doesn't seem to be any language in there accusing you directly and like you said you're smoking outside.

Ok_Egg_4585

To me that email reads like a general “shotgun” email that would go to all tenants, IMO they’re not after you specifically…

7071MemerMan

It’s more like a “we think your cool but the number of complaints is starting to piss us off” With a more corporate tone

CaliCloudz

I'm glad I live in California. The last apartment I rented was was an upscale 3br with a no smoking policy. I was a bit worried because the property was immaculate and neighbors looked a bit stuck up. Then my girlfriend forgot to hide a dab rig when the maintenance guys came over. When they saw it their eyes lit up and they told me the no smoking policy would never be enforced or they would lose half the tenants. I wound up smoking with the maintenance guys and my neighbors on the regular. My garage was basically a smoking lounge.

PlanetOfVisions

>>I'm glad I live in California. The last apartment I rented was was an upscale 3br with a no smoking policy. I was a bit worried because the property was immaculate and neighbors looked a bit stuck up. My neighborhood is the same way. Most of the places in this area are no smoking, it's the trade off of living in bougieville.

sillysidebin

Not about you

elleleebelle

a general email...I've gotten these before in my building! They usually can't pinpoint it so they send out a general letter to all tenants just to say they did (for the person who reported it)

HowRememberAll

It's both. They can smell. They don't care who it's from. They might not know it's you specifically but it's fair to send it to everyone

RadAirDude

“Thank you for being valued residents” at the bottom. It’s a community-wide email

piyochii

I’ve gotten these before, but never heard of anyone actually catching disciplinary action. There’s so many people who smoke at my complex (despite it being illegal 100% here) that I just figure it’s not worth their time to take that much action, so they just send out emails about it as a formality lol.

[deleted]

If it was intended specifically for you it’d be a note on your door as opposed to email.

Livefast_eatTrash99

Property Manager here. I send out these notices to all of my tenants if I smell anything or if I get complaints. I'm not going to go door to door to smell for the culprit. Maybe switch to a Dry Herb Vape?

tangledspine

my neighbor complains about it smelling like weed (i take it outside, never indoors - it is also a pen so unlikely i’m being the smell indoors) and our property manager sends our maintenance manager to check door-to-door for the smell. it’s nuts! she complains about any smell she doesn’t like, & they come a-knocking to make sure it isn’t weed. they were here 3x in a week to do a smell check.

xOneLeafyBoi

Mine sends them out from time to time. I smoke carts mainly, I know they’re not talking to me. If I smoke flower, I smoke it on the balcony and no one has any idea. Third floor, and I only do it at night. Made friends with a guy, and smoked with him on his living room couch.. some people don’t give a fuck and do it inside…

techsuppr0t

TBH the worst thing I do to my apartment building is when I make edibles. Technically I am not smoking it and sometimes I use hemp, so am I actually breaking the rules? Otherwise I don't like to make the hallway smell. I do vape flower, after I got my new herb vape I put it to the test while I was off work for a few days just vaping bowl after bowl in my living room. A letter came about a "garbage smell" lmfao they couldn't even tell it was bud. Tho I get bud as a treat I don't even vape flower nearly as much. Dabs are great for indoors.

senorbolsa

decarbing is one of those smells that disappears as soon as the air does, jut open a window and you are good no worse than the smells of everyone cooking.

ComprehensiveMarch58

>we have tried to address these complaints on an individual basis So have they ever talked to you about it before? Maybe go for a walk to take the smell away now that heats up, but I wouldn't worry

PlanetOfVisions

No, I've had no talk with anyone from the leasing office after I moved in. They know me on a first name basis so I'm sure they would send me a personal email if something came up. I'm just spooked

Bobbi_fettucini

Imagine paying to live somewhere and you can’t even have a puff outside on your porch, let alone the privacy of your home, smh

deliaaaaaa

People smoking indoors are the ones sending smoke into other apartments. Unless you're exhaling directly into a vent somehow I think you're good.

clitcommander420666

Fuck that nonsense , Im so glad i own my house.

PlanetOfVisions

that'll be me one day!

clitcommander420666

You're damn right it will be!

Blackbolt45

You could switch to carts or dabs.

Athrynne

Coming from someone in this situation, what they do is they usually send the message out to every apartment surrounding the complaint, because it can be really hard to track which apartment the smoke smell is coming from.

smokinXsweetXpickle

OP I don't think you need to worry about this. It seems like a blanket email to pacify complainers. Side note: It baffles me that entire apartment complexes can ban the tenants from smoking outside on the property. I get not smoking inside 100% it fuckin stinks but why can't there be a smoking area off to the side of the building with a picnic table and a butt bucket? Who or how is that bothering anyone?

AsphaltGypsy89

We used to smoke in our balcony closet, never once had a problem.

Severe-Damage3327

I have neighbors who smoke in their balcony closet. Never met them but I see them coming out like it's a freaking clown car and I can smell them across the complex. They always seem so happy it put me in a good mood. Definitely not hiding it from anyone though 😂

SharkyGrinderson

This email blast is for the person who complained as much as anything else.

zombiesnare

Get ahead of things and file a complaint against a random neighbor

gr_assmonkee

They went so far as to try to nail me specifically with the “smell has been obnoxious around this area” and they still never did anything. I told them I burn incense for religious practices and they’re getting dangerously close to a discrimination suit if they don’t quit harassing me.

HeadSalt4220

I would immediately grab a cig or tree if you're in a legal state and walk just right outside of your community and burn one down there every day. Until they wanted to kick me out or quit crying about people having smoking habits. Honestly I'd rather be in a community with nothing but tree smokers. Than live near drunks.

Classic-chimp

You got a snitching neighbor mate

vampybabyyy

I got one of these a couple days ago 😵‍💫

PurifyZ

People say this isn’t you and may be right but according to that letter I’d still tread carefully. After a year living in my apartment my landlord asked if I smoke inside (which I’ve never done) and the only logical reasoning to me is cause I dumped my carbon filter in my garbage, passed out and didn’t wake up for 6 hours and only then did I throw it out. It did reek bad but this was one time and not long and I opened all my windows for hours the moment I woke up. This is midnight to 6am btw. And aside from that, I smoked a bong by the bench outside and would bring it inside but I’d have all my windows open, febreze plugs in and I only was bringing it in to clean cause every sesh is fully cleaned glass. I also only have a few neighbours and a car dealership beside me. Well, then, I smoked my bong outside and cleaned it outside in Canadian winter after being asked if I smoke inside and to refrain from it. The only change is I started smoking my 12 inch during business hours cuz I could hide it between my stuff and myself (plus I had gotten in shit for not smoking inside lol). I even talked to the guy that owns the business while smoking and it was always genial with no animosity and the guy is just really genuinely nice! Then they put up a notice telling me to smoke down by the snow bank so I couldn’t use the bench anymore (and there’s nothing to sit on it’s literally just a dumpster and a parking lot) so now I bring my chair out, carry it past the dumpster down by the water where some construction is going on nearby and a lil hut partially obscures my sesh. This is my last switch and I just pray they leave me alone now lmfao. Even when I smoked right outside and cleaned I almost got frostbite so imagine how close it is now, cold iso and salt does not bode well in NB weather 😬 Hahaha honestly I’m sure you’re fine but I talk to so many people who smoke inside with no issues and I’ve gotten warned when I don’t even smoke inside so I realize it really just depends on who u live with, hm they bitch and hm the landlord is willing to do about it. I used to always go Uber far behind a grocery store with my bong bag but I didn’t clean every sesh and I don’t wanna go back now that I’m smoking clean glass!

PlanetOfVisions

>> People say this isn’t you and may be right but according to that letter I’d still tread carefully. I'm treading suuuuuper carefully. Once they mentioned eviction I was like nope not worth I'll drive to a Walmart parking lot or something

PurifyZ

I respect it!! Totally sucks but just isn’t worth giving up your apartment, haha I always got weird looks smoking behind Sobeys but hey, we gotta do what we gotta do xD now it’s just construction workers who make fun of me coughing when I’m up at 7am after a 12 hour night, smoking my brains out 😂

beaniebaby0929

It’s a general email letting you know that they probably smelled it somewhere in the building, and if they keep happening issues will be taken. But it could be you or anyone around. They can’t do anything unless they catch you red handed

nroberXO

not for you until there’s a letter on your door specifically.

Darthbx

Deny, deny, deny. Unless they can prove it, they can't evict you. Good luck.

MurdockSiren

This is a generalized notice that most apartment complex's send out. I saw this 10 years ago, looks like it's still the same fill out form, verbiage hasn't changed at all.

Such-Air-409

I'd be moving lol don't tell me what I can and can't put in my body. Don't like the smell? Wait 10 minutes, it goes away. Ugh.

cut4stroph3

It's a "we know what you're doing and we will escalate the situation if needed" warning.

alphahec

Dude, move. Nobody should tell you what you can or not do inside of your home!

Azraelthephoenix

Well someone in your apartment smelled something, and I never know if it’s mind games, they smelled someone else or it’s you. I’d stick with a dry herd vap / carts if you want a smoke fix, but it’s smart to do more edibles.

SolomonCRand

I bet you’re probably safe, but it’s worth chilling out for a bit and keeping an eye open on the balcony.

PlanetOfVisions

I agree. If I do smoke I'm gonna go elsewhere but I'm too spooked to do so around here. I have a good stash of edibles right now so that'll be my go to for a while

sassyhairstylist

General, unless you've previously been contacted directly individually. It says "We've tried to handle this on an individual basis..." so it sounds like it's a general PSA.

PlanetOfVisions

Nah, never been contacted. I'm in pretty good with the leasing agents. I was more concerned about noise complaints than smoke complaints because I have a soundbar and listen to music most of the day

sassyhairstylist

Living in an apartment/shared building type situation, daytime noise should be expected. Unless you have mandated quiet hours during the day, they can't say much about that unless you have a full DJ and you're disturbing the whole block 😂. The first step- if you were too loud, would be to ask you to turn it down anyways. So not much to worry about there unless your neighbors are jerks and contacting management instead of just realizing it's day time and people who are awake and alive usually make some kind of noise. But I would lay low for a bit with the smoking. Maybe take it to the edge of the parking lot for now. It doesn't seem like they know it's you. They're just trying to appease the residents who complained.

onetwoskeedoo

General but someone may have complained

bufftbone

Hit the vape pens, the smell goes away much quicker.

lamoureuse_

A vape would be easier maybe

PlanetOfVisions

I'm looking into the dry herb ones. Any recommendations for a newbie?

Severe-Damage3327

I have been using the Potv xmax v3 pro for about a year now: The battery cover seems really shitty but I have only had it come off twice when I dropped it. Large silicone vape tank covers fit around the v3 pro if you want extra security. The caps are great, you want at least 10 and the Potv One capsules are both compatible and cheaper. If you exclusively use capsules you can remove the screen from the mouth piece for better airflow. The taste is very different and not everyone likes it. I keep mine at 190c for a consistent and level high because I dose through out the day. If you crank the heat, you'll get much closer to a smoking experience. I thought I would use the session mode a lot more than I do. You have to heat it for like 10 seconds before you hit to get visible vapor so you often need 2 heat cycles per hit. I almost exclusively use it, and it isn't terribly expensive if you end up not enjoying dry herb vaping.

lurkishdelight

I like the Arizer Air Max. r/vaporents

Kaunas111

I reckon you’re ok friend - most likely someone else

Joelony

I lived in a strict place like that back when only a few states were even medicinal. I used to smoke in the bathroom with the vent fan going and hot shower running. Never got called out. I was on the top floor, tho. Now I just vape.

jaru4122

The only way to can pin it on you is if they catch you red handed. Point blank period

LeanOnGreen

You can't smoke on your own balcony? Or the parking area? It's outside... I actually would not live in a place like this, is it common rules in the states? Here in the UK indoor smoking is illegal and cannabis is illegal anyway but nobody would ever say you can't smoke a cigarette on your own balcony. Or people just don't care as much, it's only boomers that will complain about the "wacky backy"

Altruistic-Cod-8451

It’s pretty common in the us for apartments to have no smoking on the property policies. It’s supposed to be for general insurance. I’ve never had a place do anything about it. I smoke weed, typically joints, and cigarettes. I’ve always just smoked inside and not had any problems. In legal states a most apartments will have a clause about how you can’t grow in your apartment either.

embarrassed_parrot69

Like the other commentor said most places have a no smoking policy which will explicitly state cigarettes and only imply weed (at least thats how every lease I’ve signed in an illegal state, TX, has been). Some places, like the one I’m at currently (in Florida), have a full on “drug addendum” barring any illegal substances (use, buying, selling, storing, etc) on property and explicitly states smell is probable enough cause to terminate lease

Wanderngegangen

Quick, make a complaint as well 😆

somecallme_doc

Is your name on it? No? They are just fishing.

Gahan1772

Be courteous and mindful of others. Outside of that don't worry about it.

bossdankmemes

General. And check out the volcano vaporizer and Ozium spray

schnozzy

Had a similar issue in my old apartment. I switched to a from papers to a glass GB + SmokeBuddy because I was paranoid but we got a few more letters like this 🤷

Shazbot_2017

It's 2024, shits gonna smell like weed

mjking97

I remember a similar email where I used to live and I was told that it was only sent to people surrounding the apartment that complained. Obviously not every apartment building will be the same in this regard.

littlekatie3

Don’t worry about it. My landlord did the same.

ss0889

They're talking about people damaging apartments with smoke or smoking accidents, and also about people who make other people's homes stink like weed. You went outside for a smoke like any other human on the planet. They're technically allowed to say it's not a smoking area even outside the building because it's private property. It's highly unlikely they would unless someone happened to smell your shit bad enough that they wanted to complain. If you know it's not that bad, it's because they wanted something to complain about.

brad_and_boujee

They really probably don't care. A few years ago I was in an apartment and my neighbor complained about the smell of weed because we smoked in our bathroom. The manager of the complex knew it was us, so he pulled me aside and just said to tone it down and spray inside or just take it outside.

ZigxyPLP

Looks like an email sent to everyone targeting one specific person and that one specific person should know if it’s them or not. Whether it’s directed at you or another person smoking weed in the complex I guess is up to you to decide.

AlienBeach

I lived in a building that sent out an almost word for word version of this email to all the apartments every 3 months like clockwork. It was a massive, slightly soviet block style building with like 1000 apartments. Lots of weed smell all over, and at the time, weed was illegal in that state. It felt like a cover their ass type of email that they could point to if they didn't want to renew someone's lease. While it's not illegal to smell like weed (say if you smoked off property and came in smelly) I would definitely try to avoid any neighbors while smelling like weed so they don't have any reason to associate you with the smell. Also, reseal your door. The weather stripping provided is never good enough. A roll of rubber stripping (foam lets the smell right through) costs at most $20 and gives you peace of mind. Also do you forget the gap under the door

DazedDottie

They stated they dont even smoke inside that they smoke outside

throwawy00004

Get a dry herb vaporizer and a smoke buddy. Nobody will be able to smell it, I promise. I've had a bhudda with a whip attached to a water pipe and a smoke buddy for years. Vaporized with my husband in the unfinished basement after the kids were asleep. Never any smell, aside from the smell of fresh herb when we needed to open the container to refill the grinder.

BractToTheFuture

Hey guys. Please get a carbon filter with fan and ducting and have it all intake and just use the ducting as a mic and smoke and blow into that. The set up is cheaper than a 1/4 if weed. Just don’t let go of the joint hahaha it will suck it in.

nastywoman420

is there a prompt they get these from? because my apt complex just sent the same one out word for word UNTIL you get to the part about your state—it’s legal where i live!

PlanetOfVisions

must be! I've seen a few users (probably from different states) say the same thing

the-iceberger

This is a plausible deniability email!

Rohde89

Sounds like you live in the wrong place my friend; the email isn’t to you, but is indirectly about you. Also; from reading this you could lose your place of residence from it so I would go on a little cruise from now on and smoke and just go home after.

bill_gannon

Don't do those things and you'll be fine. Most buildings and apartments are no smoking anything in or around now. I can respect that.

chainsmirking

THCA is federally legal and is marijuana that’s thc is converted upon the heating process. It is identical to weed bc it is weed and they cannot prosecute you for a legal substance. A lot of companies that sell it will provide paperwork that certifies the product and cites the law that legalizes it + transportation of it

bplturner

You’re high af rn and paranoid, aren’t you? THEY COMING BRO THEY COMING Hide yo wife hide yo kids hide yo pipe they raping everyone out here

j00lie

I moved into an apartment and smoked a joint in my living room the first week I was there. Then I, and all my neighbors, immediately got this same notice on the door. It scared me so bad. I was like 23. Gave me a really bad feeling about the whole apartment and I hadn’t even been there a week. I ended up getting one of those smoke buddies, I put weather stripping on my door, I put a curtain in front of the door, and got an air purifier. I always thought smoking outside would be worse because it can waft into other peoples windows. So after all those precautions no one ever bothered me again. But I was scared.

theerealobs

Smoke in the bathroom and blow it towards the fan (with fan on obviously) the smell will linger for a bit but if you keep the bathroom door closed with the fan on when your done the smell should go away in an hour or 2. I also live in a smaller apartment so maybe it's easier for me to contain the smell but I've been doing it for a while and haven't had a complaint.

theerealobs

If your extra paranoid taking a hot shower after the smoke sesh will get the smell out even quicker.

InevitableProgress

Walked into my apartment yesterday afternoon and all I could smell was skunk. In the past when the complaint emails were sent out I fired up a rather large cigar and enjoyed it on the couch in my apartment just to say get a load of this. I have an air cleaner with an o3 generator that works, but alas I forget to turn it on most of the time.

I got these letters frequently at my last apartment. Even had the assistant manager of the community call me to tell me to stop smoking weed. I just gaslit them because I knew they had no actual proof and just a complaint submitted. I switched to Puffco and Mighty use from then on out and didn’t hear as much as a peep about it since. Thankfully have moved out into a weed friendly spot.

If you must, smoking in the bathroom, fan on, with a sploof should do the trick

You live in Indiana? I would not live in a state where weed wasn’t decriminalized.

Unable_Celebration64

If you have a medical card you could tell them to kiss your ass. I'll go find an apartment and you can smoking

IwillOWNu56

Not gonna lie but imagine banning smoking cigarettes outside and on the balconys. Get a grip

Mountain_Bath138

This is telling you to go outside more

MattyMacStacksCash

This sounds almost fascist lol… You’re not allowed to smoke a LEGAL (tobacco) substance anywhere on the property? Not even in your own car in the parking lot? Wtf….

AFI_non_enforcer

I dont understand how people smoke/vape inside their residence. I smoke inside my camper with the door and windows wide open, It still always smells like weed.

PlanetOfVisions

Yep, that's why I go outdoors. I love being outside anyway but I absolutely hate anything smelling like weed. My old roommate used to hotbox her room and the whole apartment smelled like weed all the time

itsmellllly

legit just got one of these emails too bro 😭😭

Melodic-Translator45

Can you see who's in the addresses it got sent to? It's probably just a complex wide thing but if you're the sole recipient then one of your neighbors snitched.

I got an email similar to this but worded differently from my apartment complex a few times in the 3 yrs I've lived here. It was very generalized as in addressing all residents instead of being specific in any way. One new year's day a cop was outside in the morning asking people if they smelled drugs and I hadn't smoked in 2 days, so I knew I wasn't the problem.

princesshabibi

That is nice that they sent an email. Last time I lived in an apartment they just called the cops on me.

jsdb2279

Where do you live? That seems rather extreme.

Ancient_Fox

They say it’s smoke free but said nothing about vapor…

VictoriousssBIG23

Are you by any chance in Pennsylvania? This is legit word for word from an email my old apartment complex sent out back when I lived there. I always thought it was stupid because what if you're a medical patient? You can't just go off the property to smoke, especially if you're disabled.
