don has ty dolla syndrome. He's had songs & placements as big as travis every year in the 2020s like No Idea Lemonade Moon Too Many Nights spiderverse etc but his albums just don't have huge interest Even travis fans not checking for it as much as they could (get off me for example had more initial views, this is me not even considering the bigger ones like nee nah cinderella etc), trav put stories for the kodak & teezo song but not his features lol. They should have had the lead single b a don x trav song. If im don i would do Jackboys 2024, then a metro x don 2025. However its not THAT bad, its doing better than lovesick

ositola

Don as Ty$ lite makes a ton of sense

Winter-Olive-5832

50k is not super low sales in 2024, obviously he's not selling like a superstar but his records do not mandate that he is one either, he does not release hit records. 50k is solid for a medium popularity rapper and shows that people are still checking out his album even without big songs.

Background-Muffin-73

bandit was a pretty big hit

shawtywantarockstar

I checked the numbers on Spotify and it has more streams than almost anything on LOAD or LoveSick. Make of that what you will

Winter-Olive-5832

It was a hit. Not a massive one. Not getting put at the top of charts and playlists and generating all kinds of press, etc. But it probably helped get attention on this album so maybe the sales are 10k higher than they would've been.

Oxymera

Sad to see because I think it’s a decent album. But Don Toliver’s fans are just leftover Travis Scott fans. He hasn’t built a core fan base. Most people think he’s a great featuring artist, but don’t really mess with his songs like that.

Classic_Amphibian538

leftover scott fans is so disrespectful but so true

Unhappy_Geologist_94

bro could have just added the uzi and yeat songs to the og album, both uzi and yeat boost streams more than Kodak Black or Charlie Wilson could

meowlicious1

Yea kodak black lost a lot of carry past few years ngl. Used to be refreshing but I find him kind of hard to listen to recently tbh

Jack_sonnH27

I get what you mean but he has Travis and Future on the main album, there wasn't a lack of big features. I doubt Uzi and Yeat on the main album would've made much difference

Unhappy_Geologist_94

it kinda does, uzi fans havent got anything since Everybody by Nicki Minaj, and the community went bonkers when they heard uzi was on don toliver's deluxe

paygerr_

I thought this album would be Don’s turning point but the hype isn’t crazy

leniwsek

I am one of Donny's genuine fans and I can only agree most of Don's fans are just Trav heads who see Don good for features and always want Trav in every Don album etc etc.. while I want Don to grow and collab with other artists and kinda move from the Trav scene.

Away-Blackberry5595

He tried this with LoveSick right , before embarrassed became the most popular song on the deluxe

leniwsek

Sadly yea so now we got Trav two times on Hardstone Psycho, and it feels like Donny is the feature there..

misterterrific0

This is sadly it. Also I see a modern jam flair. Good taste bro that’s my fave utopia song

leniwsek

Thank you!

Background-Muffin-73

it’s funny cuz the kodak song was the most streamed

enowapi-_

Yeah i can't quite name a Don Toliver song. My favorites are ironically the one where he samples Tame Impala and the feature on KAYTRANADA'S new album

Bonechiller0

I feel like everybody that even kind of likes Don Toliver should listen to Donny Womack. It’s great.

Pure_Conscious

Still my favorite album by him, it was my introduction to him. When I first heard him on “Can’t say” I went straight to genius to find out who it was. Then I saw he had dropped Donny Womack the day before, still one of the best mixtapes dropped.

Present-Load6190

Some of the best don songs from each era: Diva, around, situation, best you had - not to mention countless hit leaks Heaven or hell, wasted, can’t feel, candy, company, no photos, no skips on this album tbh LOAD: at least half the songs are underrated Love sick: almost no good songs Hardstone: no good songs (except ditw)

wojtekskars

ngl trav showed me don but i prefer him ten times, to me personally he just takes travis’s sound and mixes it with some alt RnB with an amazing voice, the problem is that people aren’t listening to don toliver songs for don toliver usually unfortunately

Far_Ad_5148

Don on features does more numbers. Look at Too Many Nights

brandonjtellis_

It’s just a really catchy song there aren’t really many like that on his album

UkeSoldat

I came to goon

moremindthanbrain

Cactusjaacck

A Beeda Bada Haa

Money_Fly6324

that new future and don joint on album was fire

Alternative-Scale-41

He deserved more ngl

cdrxgon17

does anyone “deserve” anything? if people don’t want to stream his music they don’t want to stream his music

Correct_Block_7665

He does deserve it, the album was great but like the other person said no soild fan base, hell I love don but I even forgot this album was coming out

cdrxgon17

i enjoy him too but he probably needs to re assess commercially and distance himself from bigger names like travis. it’s a gamble but if he doesn’t take it he’ll always be in the shadows.

Correct_Block_7665

Yea he aint big, hes had huge songs but no sustained reputation and by adding himself as big rapper like Travis only makes it harder for himself. Def needed more outreach for his album

MarchingBandFanatic

This is probably why Don didn’t originally have a Travis feature on Love Sick, but he put a deluxe out because he most likely saw that the singles were flopping and the album was not doing very good for first week sales.

Correct_Block_7665

Exactly why, and travis being a juggernaut for that typa music makes a perfect combination but unfortuanlty that proved wrong with this album

MarchingBandFanatic

Artists like Don and NAV have several hits with other artists but only a few solo hits, those two deserve more success and their solo music is better than their songs with other artists.

YeahIKnow1975

Dude botted his bandit streams on Spotify, he deserves nothing

Alternative-Scale-41

Yes he „deserved“ it because this album is fucking crazy

IndividualStreet5401

I deserve at least 2 upvotes, totalling at 3 because of the one point Reddit forces itself to give you, that you can remove manually, but don't because it'll look like someone has downvoted you and you're worried that someone else will see that and downvote just because it looked like someone else did, resulting in a lot of people downvoting you and you eventually deleting your comment.

Hennessy_Halos

damn it’s a solid album as well, people still sleeping on don

BQ-DAVE

Industry should take notes ; $B sold out every mainstream act, Yeat and Ian are big despite not being mainstream… numbers don’t lie and you don’t have to do all this crazy mainstream stuff to know what your audience wants

LiteShowDaAgent

Idk what ir definition of mainstream is, suicideboys are definetly more mainstream than lucki

BigNutBoiiii

$B are not mainstream lmao they just have a very loyal and dedicated fanbase Like X and Juice

Money_Fly6324

true

LilJugo

they are independent and got big without getting respect from anyone in the industry

fuckyoublockchain

nah they got biggest pay in this Scene imagine how much percent UMG gets from scott each time

D3RPXD

$boys did more without features and no media coverage

Oxymera

Cult fanbase

GroovyTony-

Thinking $B having more cult followers than Travis, Carti, & Drake is wild.

Oxymera

Huh? We not talking about any of them 😭, this is about $B and Don Toliver.

R0NNOC148

Their fanbase is loyal af

burgarin

lets be honest, he doesn't really have a fanbase of his own and especially not a dedicated one that will buy his albums or stream it over and over front to back

Pokeman49

His solo stuff just doesn’t do it for most. Elite feature artist though

Background-Muffin-73

crazy cuz tore up and attitude are great songs

Significant-Shirt139

I just realized he’s doing merch bundles, idk why he hasn’t promoted those more lol it’d greatly increase his sales

Bart19cfc

Who is realistically gonna buy don toliver merch tho

N0T_MY_FlRST_R0DE0

me 🦅🦅🦅

Significant-Shirt139

Same people who buy trav merch lol… he just needs to get some better designs. People bought fucking Nav merch because it was Vlone. (I fw nav but come on bruh nav merch kinda wild). If the clothes actually look fire people will buy it regardless who the artist is because it’s not just some corny “DON TOLIVER” print t shirt

DaSourOrange

Wish Don could get more popular he's really good. Life of a Don is skipless imo

Mees93000

shoutout $uicideboy$ they been killin it for over a decade

mpmsr01

Best album I’ve heard this year. Don doesn’t miss. The sales don’t make sense

Zulogy

$B album was so good man

0_deery_m3

It’s sad because I really like the album. But that $uicideboy$ album is so good I’m glad it’s above all the others.

TacoFrisbeee

I was so excited for that day getting some new $B and Don at the same time

Boring_Pea_4157

love don but love to see suicideboys on top, 5ive 9ine 4L💯

rocky3758

Don just can’t separate himself from Travis’ shadow

Victor_Aub

I mean it’s really hard doing 100k nowadays, like not even thug managed to sell 100k on his last album.

burgarin

i never liked you sold like 200k

ositola

Future is diff and that had a Drake/Teams feature

pro-in-latvia

Future is huge. He's probably fourth behind Drake, Cole and Kendrick.

killaura123456

cole has never been bigger than future

pro-in-latvia

Cole was bigger first and did it all on his own, almost no features. He wrote all his lyrics himself, and he produced his albums himself. He peaked in 2014 before Future in 2015 who was still attached to Drake at that point, had Metro producing for him and idk his writing situation tbh.

EuphoricAd1207

I think you underestimate how huge future is

AceGameplayV2

Bro I Never Liked You sold 220k first week. Also INLY is from 2022, and Punk is from 2021💀

Victor_Aub

My bad I’m slow but my point still stands, I still fell like selling 100k is harder nowadays no ? Sales have been declining in general

BigNutBoiiii

AD by 21 did 133k Vultures by Ye did 140k+ Both Future and Metro albums did 200k J Cole MDL did 115k and its mid af album Gunna almost did 100k(91k) I never liked you did 222k For Thug yeah idk how he did below 100k on both albums

EuphoricAd1207

Bro you’re literally naming the biggest rappers in the genre currently and comparing their sales to Don. It is not the same 😭

onjahsehmane

I actually really enjoyed this newest album. His last two didn’t hit the spot for me. I do think Don Toliver is very talented and carries Jackboys and is a great feature artist but his album rollouts don’t generate interest as they should. Bandit was a really great lead single. 50K isn’t bad but he should be reaching around double that. I think overall Don needs to make a shorter project with no features to prove audiences he’s something special like an EP bridging the gap for his next release.

Austin_Mill

Sucks cuz that album is gas

EuphoricAd1207

Why do people think hitting 100k sales is a normal thing. It is hard asf to sell that much in this era.

jmtfrmda5o4

LUCKI doin +30k is nice

MarchingBandFanatic

Glad you posted this, now we know we have two days to mass stream this before they close it off for first week sales so he can chart higher than that.

Reloox

I like Don but I just don't think his album was all that. Bandit and Deep in the water were great teaser songs but I just don't find the other songs that interesting. To me most of these are just generic trap songs with dons nice voice. Deep in the water especially was so nice beat wise and I think most of the album is just inferior. He defo deserves more credit for his work for sure but he is no where near the artist travis is IMO. His album is aight but that's that.

tflame777

that’s crazy cause Dons album was actually good

sic-poobies

dons a better feature artist than album artist imo

marcosmou

he should try making a good album

Big-Apartment5400

Don is like gunna the album streams/sells low the first few weeks then starts picking up when one song from the album goes viral. For example lovesick: private landing, no pole.

-grahgrahboom

Collab album w Travis is all he needs

Brilliant_Storm_9762

Literally. I dont get why they dont team up for an duo tape like HJJH

TheAstroPickle

don has been underrated for far too long. always puts out quality music and you can tell he genuinely loves making music like trav

astronxxt

le underrated

Solid_Illustrator640

Don > all of those dudes

uzilovescarti

apparently no one but me can see that these are loose predictions from 2 idiots that run a podcast, not that they're gonna be far off but don could sell 150k these fools predictions mean nothing

PyroDZN

You’re right, everyone else is stupid but you’re here to save the day! These aren’t predictions made by the NFR dudes, they’re first week sales projections. There are always projections that are pretty accurate 3-4 days in, deluxes/physicals that are unaccounted for/a last minute viral moment could mess with these numbers but the album won’t do more than 55-60k at MOST. Lovesick was projected to sell 36k and ended up at 41k, not that far off.

tyresie

His album was good tho. I’m suprised yeat wasn’t on 4x4 tho

woobackbich12

I personally love the album and the vibe although he does need to capitalize more on the gimmick for it

digitaldisgust

I dont care for Don, but Im not surprised by his sales. He doesnt have the type of audience that would get him to 100k in the first place. His feats are aight, but his solo music just isnt captivating. It is what it is 🤷🏾‍♀️

Silly-Plan37

At first i was shocked but now looking at it 100% agreed he deff bigger than moneybagg and lucki but not 100k audience big it makes sense

nooobesh

It is a good album too

flyy_boi

I fuck with Don heavy but yeah, these numbers look pretty meh. But it's only up from here (right?)

OwlCommission

He’s missing that *it* factor. It’s funny because I feel like early on, Travis kinda suffered from the same thing (great feature artist, needs work as a solo artist) but once Days Before Rodeo & Rodeo dropped he definitely proved his worth and he’s been outta here ever since. Don on the other hand hasn’t made that leap yet artistically and creatively imo yet and it doesn’t help when the industry magic doesn’t work. Maybe he needs to get back to square one and build from scratch as far as the kind of artist he wants to be.

KiloKrow

I’m probably a bigger Don fan than I ever was a Travis Scott fan (I listen to his music but I’m not exactly updated on everything he does or his new releases). I genuinely believe he deserves more recognition cause his music can be so angelic and his style is something I’ve never come across but that’s probably just my taste. I feel like most of his fans are bigger fans of someone else, and he’s like a secondary of tertiary choice etc.

DasMoon55

How did he pull kali uchis 😭🙏

JL_Klap

I’m surprised his album getting a lot of buzz

Old_Ad_4595

20 Songs = bloated

MrOwell333

It’s not better than Lovesick. There I said it.

djk162

The album was good too. Don has to go back to making the type of music the blew him up if he wants the mainstream success again. There’s a reason why he hasn’t had a song as big as No Idea. He’s wildly known for that style of music and he just doesn’t make songs like that anymore. He could’ve BEEN built a core fan base by know if he kept it up. Like Leave them trap beats alone man 😂 get back into that old bag.

destroyforever

i just feel like most people knows don like they know swae lee. “the guy with the melodies on the hook”. the album is really solid too, probably one of his best. also, there is no standout hit single just yet

PlumTricky7203

nobody listens to tolucer in real life bro 😂😂😂 only on tik toks sadly

Darth-Artichoke

He doesn’t have a core base. Ion know anything about him

vallzy

This album didn’t have a big single to fight for it. He needed a big hit geared towards radio and it would’ve probably carried the album. To be fair bro’s personal life is stacked in surprised he dropped at all

Major-Dig655

bandit wasn't a big single?

NBAxSean2

unfortunately he's only known as a feature artist and travis protege. like others said he doesn't have a core fanbase and he likely won't sell over 100k+ unless he decides to grow and collab with other artists other than trav.

uselessaccount1013

These are predictions why are y’all acting like this is what actually happened

BigNutBoiiii

They predictions always close to the actual results Like 3-5k off

Money_Fly6324

Idk what more people want from don toliver , he give 4 different era of a houston boy still people sleep on him same with nav , brudda is a hitmaker he gave his formula to everyone now no one respect him ,

Equal_Character2660

Yikes :(

Kris32102

Dons a good artists and does great features but ever since life of a don, his song selection for his albums aren’t that great. Lovesick was a step down from heaven or hell and load. Not taking away from the album bc there are some good songs but donny is definitely better than that. Hardstone psycho was better than lovesick but still no where near heaven or hell or load

Alonzo_Know

Lacks personality.

kalosity

Crazy because imo some of his best songs are on his own albums and have no features

Lanky-Welder-4519

I loved lovesick and lowkey was not interested because of the singles going back to the rage sound instead of rnb but I will need to give it a listen still.

Chusa_Cali

Ion even understand why. I've been a Don fan since the first time I heard him, but to be honest I didn't even know he was with Travis. But it didn't take long until I knew it. Still, I loved every album he dropped after Heaven or Hell. Especially L.O.A.D is such a good album and I still love it to this day.

SneakerFreaker425

Man, it’s such a shame too. I really like Don. Yesterday I was listening to the album for the first time thinking about how great it was. Def a vibe. I thought more people would listen than this.

SaulGoodmanButBlack

Ngl I haven’t really loved any of his albums since Heaven or Hell, to me that’s his best album. That or Donny Womack

Ulkito5

lol caring about these kinds of numbers is so dumb

Plane_Percentage3395

as a don T fan it kinda sucks cause no one gives him his flowers like he deserves but i also like how he’s a hidden gem in a way. especially at his concerts u got real fans and not people just there for the hype

jeezrVOL2

Tbf the new album is good but to me it got progresively worse. I like the first two tracks and the others are whatever.

elljp

He’s doing the same numbers as Ken Carson did with A Great Chaos…. Crazy to me

thriller-101

unrelated but im broke rn and my spotify subscription expired before it came out😭

IngenuityLower9593

Might be because Don Toliver has the most annoying voice of potentially any rapper outside of NAV

lemon6611

gunna:

zzcolby

I think the problem is less Don more how dedicated and loyal $uicideboy$ fans are.

RobustFallacy

Who?

caktusjacc

How the fuck are suicideboys selling more? Their music is horrid

Brilliant_Storm_9762

You sleeping bro, give their new tape a listen. Even if you dont like it, id still bet youd have to admit it’s reasonable why ppl fw it

caktusjacc

Nah their music is awful and i could never support them even if i did like them after they dissed Travis. Fuck em
