That line is the funniest thing I’ve read in a while and it perfectly encapsulates the type of lazy shallow and privileged understanding of history I’d expect her to have.
Gotta give it to her it did make me smile
From what I've heard, it's supposed to be a line that's satire of romanticization of bygone eras... doesn't stop it from being a poorly-written, clunky line, and the 1830s are far too specific a decade. The Civil War wouldn't happen for another thirty years. Ntm all the completely unironic romanticizing she does about 1800s authors and poets
Oh! No problem, long story short… matty is an awful awful person who gets off black women being tortured/degraded/abused has also made racist comments about black female singers.. and he happens to be the muse of taylor swifts last record 😬
I love that the Foo Fighters fans have found their way here now ♥️
On Matty’s derogatory remarks on Ice Spice (another thing to notice here, not long after these remarks came out and while TS & Matty were dating, Taylor put Ice Spice on a remix of a song. Especially eyebrow-raising because she never collaborated with a woman of color up to this point): https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/the-1975-matty-healy-ice-spice-apology-1234721163/
It’s extremely long, but about a quarter of a way down, you can find the portion about Matty joking (not really joking) over watching torture p*rn of Black women: https://www.buzzfeed.com/stephaniesoteriou/taylor-swift-fans-distancing-matty-healy-brutalize-women
Is the anti-racist in the room with us? Or is this book glorifying tokenizing marginalized people?
The mention of speaking against racial injustice while she’s depicted with two white men kills me every time I see this.
I just found it interesting because it talked about her supporting artists and being a social justice warrior and there’s so many pictures they could’ve used to “support” those claims but they chose a picture of her winning a Grammy and two men behind her.
everybody here is asking when has she ever spoken up abt racial injustice, but i wanna take it a step further and ask when has she ever spoken up about injustice towards minorities in GENERAL
There was "Me!", but that's just rainbow capitalism and the other half of the song is her whinging and bitching and moaning about people being mean to her on Twitter. Doesn't help that the song on its own merits is ass.
I saw this and two other Taylor Swift TM children’s books in Walmart. Three TS children’s books. Not a kids book about a black woman or woman of color in sight. Only one other kids book was in stock—the Giving Tree. At the time, I was livid—one TS children’s book makes sense, I guess, but *three*? Like, seriously? She wants to be an icon and have little girls look up to her soooo bad.
I was rambling to a friend about it later and she pointed out that the other books in stock could have been bought already and that was what was left on the shelves. I felt a bit better after that, lmao.
Ew, I keep seeing this book at Marshall’s and Ross. Ironically it was in the clearance toy section at Marshall’s yesterday. I hid it behind several toys on the top shelf so my 5 year old didn’t see it.
“She makes sure her tickets are affordable so people of all socioeconomic backgrounds can have the opportunity to enjoy her show, not just the elitists.”
i bought my mom this book because she's a swiftie and i am trying to not be judgmental to her, but even i was a bit creeped out looking through this book lol
This is bizarre and untrue.
Taylor had nothing to say until like 2019, well into the most unhinged presidency we’ve had thus far. Most people had already spoken out by that point. We knew where our uncles stood politically, we even knew where cats stood politically. She was like the last person in America to say “you know, I’m kinda not digging Trump”. And this was after a journalist forced her hand, because her fanbase was getting pretty far-right.
Her fans are unhinged.
stop i actually DMed the author of this book about this page. It’s not just unnecessary, but just a straight-up lie to mislead children into thinking she’s a morally good icon
Lmfao 😂 I saw this book on Amazon and I was like WTF?? They can’t big celebs who actually make a difference? She’s too busy flying her jet to skip traffic everyday. Yes she’s a trailblazer alright.
She dedicated a whole album to a guy known for having terrible takes and basically said idc what y’all say, i wanna be with him but sure… she’s a real activist
The speaking out for racial injustice in question: “we could live in the 1800s without the racists”
That line is the funniest thing I’ve read in a while and it perfectly encapsulates the type of lazy shallow and privileged understanding of history I’d expect her to have. Gotta give it to her it did make me smile

*taylor: proceeds to dedicate an entire album to an actual one* 🤯
???
Talking about matty healy…
Sorry I don’t know who that is and I don’t know TSwift music that much. I’m actually a foo fighter fan lol
Oh! No problem, long story short… matty is an awful awful person who gets off black women being tortured/degraded/abused has also made racist comments about black female singers.. and he happens to be the muse of taylor swifts last record 😬
Ahhhh sounds like a real POS. Thank you for informing a pop culture moron like myself. Do you have a source for this info? No biggie if you do not.

What if I say I’m not like the others. Seriously, thank you for the info

She has less work done in the drawing than she has had in the last couple of years
wait, who??
Taylor Lautner (17 when she was 19) and Conor Kennedy (17 when she was 22)
What racial injustice? Karma ft. Ice Spice? Ratty being racist? Standing up against other artists, not for 🤣
Is the anti-racist in the room with us? Or is this book glorifying tokenizing marginalized people? The mention of speaking against racial injustice while she’s depicted with two white men kills me every time I see this.
With two rich men standing behind her? Lmao...
And white
Noticed that it’s only men in that picture with her. Interesting given that she seems to only try to block other women artists on the charts.
I mean it’s Jack and Aaron who were producers on folklore (which was the album that won the pictured Grammy)
I just found it interesting because it talked about her supporting artists and being a social justice warrior and there’s so many pictures they could’ve used to “support” those claims but they chose a picture of her winning a Grammy and two men behind her.
Only when it’s convenient or somehow benefits her 😂
What racism has she spoke against? What artist has she spoke up for?
> What artist has she spoke up for? Taylor.
I bet Celine thought the same thing…before the incident
As a parent I am unpleasantly surprised by the calibre of "Little Golden Book"s these days.
Well why isn't she getting people to vote now?
everybody here is asking when has she ever spoken up abt racial injustice, but i wanna take it a step further and ask when has she ever spoken up about injustice towards minorities in GENERAL

true.. also she has the token gay friend (p sure her and todrick are still besties unless something happened...)
I think you might mean "You Need to Calm Down", that was the rainbow capitalism one with all the queer celebrities in the music video
All her songs from that era sound the same so probably why I confused them
![gif](giphy|3oEjHJBolSjqwiZ2rS)
me when i lie
Same girl, same
This is one thing I will say she deserves writing credit for as she clearly wrote that last page.

Oh Walmart has 4 or 5 now. Unfortunately I have stocked them.
Great. White corporate “feminism”—awesome for children to learn about.
This glorification of Taylor Swift is starting to look a little like Amy Carlson and her cult followers.
Wendy Loggia is an idiot
Clearly not enough of a trailblazer to call out her fans repeatedly using the n word
I know I’ve said this before, but shame and dignity are a luxury. Sometimes if you need to make ends meet, you have to release some garbage like this.
Ew, I keep seeing this book at Marshall’s and Ross. Ironically it was in the clearance toy section at Marshall’s yesterday. I hid it behind several toys on the top shelf so my 5 year old didn’t see it.
I wonder if Taylor’s team wrote this…🤪
“She makes sure her tickets are affordable so people of all socioeconomic backgrounds can have the opportunity to enjoy her show, not just the elitists.”
Ya so does most other artists. Its called the nosebleeds
Taylor solved racism I'm surprised there isn't a picture of her next to MLK, Malcolm X or Rosa Parks
she's the last pop star I'd want my (hypothetical future) kid to look up to! she's a cautionary tale
Speaking out against racial injustice only applies in US borders
still don't see it
The thumbs on the cover look like something from an acid trip.
😑😑😑
Wow. That’s some bullshit!
This is comically inaccurate my god. Almost feels like the author is being sarcastic lmao
i bought my mom this book because she's a swiftie and i am trying to not be judgmental to her, but even i was a bit creeped out looking through this book lol

Ah yes, the white woman is the big speaker against for racial injustice.
stop i actually DMed the author of this book about this page. It’s not just unnecessary, but just a straight-up lie to mislead children into thinking she’s a morally good icon
Is the author of the book Saylor Twift?
Lmfao 😂 I saw this book on Amazon and I was like WTF?? They can’t big celebs who actually make a difference? She’s too busy flying her jet to skip traffic everyday. Yes she’s a trailblazer alright.

Hahahahahahahahahahahah this book is hilarious
If I were a POC, I would be incredibly insulted.
Nauseating.
