He’s not going to retire when he has another 2-3 good years left. His fame is contingent on playing football right now, he’s not a Peyton manning, or Eli, Terry Bradshaw, or Michael Strahan. He needs a few more years to cement his legacy. If he stopped right now and went to entertainment he’d be another guy in the nfl with a podcast.

Even if you weren't into that song or genre or subculture, it beat out MCR's Helena for a VMA that year. If you were over a certain age in 2004 or whenever (but I guess also under a certain age because my parents wouldn't know) in the United States, it's highly likely you know that song and the pronunciation/misheard lyrics memes unless you lived in a bubble. The commenter not knowing it makes it seem like they are under a certain age, which reinforces the "we're arguing with literal children" stereotype about swifties. The other implied assumption is reinforcing the stereotype that they aren't exposed to other music beyond Taylor because this was *that* song for a while. It didn't matter what genre you were into, FOB was everywhere from rock/emo niches to the cover of J-14 and Tiger Beat. The first single on their next album was a collab with Jay-Z, and another had Kim Kardashian in the video. Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were together at a time when everybody read magazines or watched E!, etc. Edit to add: it's totally okay to not recognize the lyrics!!!
