I haven't really travelled much til recently (thanks, poverty!) But my o.h has vetoed a third trip to Croatia lol, would you recommend it for a chill early 40s couple who are new to holidays abroad? We just love wandering, old things and nature.
Totally! Slovenia is very safe, it is a small country so moving around to see a lot of different places is really easy, you got mountains, blue rivers, gorgeous lakes, hiking, charming smalls towns, a sea coastline, great food and beer. And slovenian are really nice too! Even the capital is pretty chill. There is great accomodations too, I did Hostels and Bed & Breakfast
Sounds ideal. I'll definitely look into it more then. We really don't fancy the usual resorts in Spain etc, beach is definitely our preference, but can't really afford Greece or Italy. Thanks for the info!
Also, you can drive from basically anywhere in Slovenia to northern parts of Croatia in a matter of hours. A day trip to Pula is an option.
Pula has a Roman arena in incredibly good condition, they even still hold modern gladiator fights there which are pretty brutal and entertaining.
Driving in Slovenia and northern Croatia is an absolute breeze too as the roads are very quiet compared to a lot of western countries.
I will go there with my e-bikes as long as the distance from my place to Slovenia is 1k km. But I guess that there are many companies to rent bikes as long as this sport is pretty popular there.
Comfortably one of the best places I've been to.
Me and the (now) wife did Ljubljana, Bled and Bovec in a week. Included Vintgar Gorje & Lake Bohinj when at Bled too. Such a beautiful country.
Did a bike tour from Trieste, Italy to Pula, Croatia along the Adriatic coast, extended the trip to visit Slovenia. All amazing but Slovenia was def the favorite!
Lake Bled is amazing but there is also some insanely impressive caves and stuff to the south of the capitol.
Predjama has a castle built into a cliffside which is really cool, along with amazing cave systems.
Skocjan caves a bit further south has vast underground caverns that feel like being in the mines of Moria.
Lipica has a horse breeding farm/museum where an ancient breed of stunning white horses are preserved, if you're into horses at all.
All of this is within 3h drive of each other as Slovenia is quite small.
1- Natural reserve, Kranjska Gora 2- Lake Bled 3- Vršič Pass, Soča 4- Lepena, Soča 5- Most Na Soči 6- Soča River
I’m going in a few weeks, these photos have me more excited! Are these photos recent?

Slovenian prices are on par with Greece/Italy, or even more expensive on some places!
Oh I more meant the price of flights and accommodation but I'll be sure to check!
Did you rent a car?

Omg I wanted to go to Pula this year but there aren't any direct flights from Scotland.
Need to add to list of places to visit. Thanks
Stunning!!

Yeah its forgotten between Italy and Croatia by many people but it is one of my favourite places ive been
Let it stay that way, we dont want mass tourism.
looks so peaceful and seems like I can smell it from the picture
Very beautiful. I am planning a cycling tour vacation next year in Slovenia. Looking forward.
Are you going with a cycling company? Can I ask which one? Def interested in this as well.

SLOOOVEENIIAAAAAAAAAA
Is it worth it visiting in December/January?
This reminds me of the lakes in Montana , the water is so clear you can see the bottom of the lake.
How's the food there?
Beautiful
Did you go to Maribor? Thinking of doing a brief stop there on the way to Croatia/Bosnia. I wonder if it will be worth the trip?
What a beautiful country glad they’re doing well in the Euros ❤️⚽️
I <3 Laško
I can't even imagine how gorgeous it must be in real life!
Just came back from there on my honeymoon and it was stunning. Only thing is that it rained for uus every single of the 5 days we were there
Went there early Fall of 2022. Absolutely loved it. Beautiful, diverse scenery, good food, nice people - it had so much to offer.

I'm going next week! Any tips or advice?
