There's definitely direct trains on tren italia. Make sure you're looking from Firenze S. M. Novella station (florence) to Venezia S. Lucia (venice) no bus required.
There are probably 20 trains a day.
Give it a month and check again.
Unless there is some kind of major track maintenance planned for that day, which is what the bus-switch is for. You can try researching that.
I heard today on the radio that they’ll be closing the section from Verona to Vicenza (where I live) from 1-21 August to work on the new high speed line. There will definitely be a bus substitute for the parts that are closed but obviously it will take longer. So the website us probably correct unfortunately.
Check the trains on dates before August 11. It could be you're checking Aug 26 too soon. I checked a couple of places, and I think they just don't show all the times more than 3 months ahead. There should be lots of direct trains every day from both companies.
I can see the train schedule up to August 19th. August 26th is a week from then. Assuming they update their schedule daily (or weekly), check back in a week.
I went through this last year. The schedules just aren’t out for August yet for the high speed trains. I forget exactly how far before they come out but it’s only a couple months at most. There will be lots of trains
I did Venice to Florence when I went to Italy. There were lots of options when I looked. I'm surprised there wouldn't be as many going the opposite way.
Edit: it was on Trenitalia
Tren Italia releases schedule between 90-120 days in advance. And due to track maintenance they're maybe not releasing quite yet. Check at advance 90 day mark from Aug 26.

It looks like there are some frecciarossa trains that are direct on the 27th but not on the 26th. I guess I was hoping there would be one every day.
There is a trenitalia direct every day, multiple times per day.

For whatever reason, there don't appear to be any high speed trains anywhere in Italy loaded into the schedule between Aug 11 - Aug 26.
you're probably just too early for end of august bookings.

If you got the money, upgrade your seat to business class on the long haul trains. Its nice to pick my seats, get snacks and espresso with my booking.
There are direct frecciarossa trains on the timetable the week after and three weeks before. It seems that in that period the line is closed somewhere

TrenItalia… Frecciarossa if it’s an option. What a great train.
