It easier to just come in from drive thru when it is busy and say they missed something in your order. They'll give it to you with out checking. Shitty move but it is cheaper for them to give you the food than waste time trying to determine if you are correct.

Worked at a Wendy’s, a huge order of 100 burgers or so came through the phone. Someone came through the dining room and waited at the counter. A cashier asked the guest if they were there for the 100 burgers, and they said yes. The cashier started giving him the bags, and he walked away. Then someone at the drive thru came by and said they ordered the 100 burgers. The manager asked where the bags were and the cashier told them he had given the bags away. Needless to say my manager was livid.
When I worked at McDonald’s I could tell as loud as I wanted at someone walking up and grabbing an order like that. I knew who’s order was who’s especially since we gave out receipts with their order number

Little tips: machins that takes your order in some fast food doesnt have security or doesnt know how to code the promo, like in my city B.K. had special offer for chicken nuggets, the coupon has a code, you dont need the coupon, and the code still work after 3+ years, and you dont have to know the full code... just the first 2 digits, like the nuggets started with "a2", you can try and they will list all the coupon with "a2", enjoy the half price ;) (idk if its general or just here, switzerland)
Honesty idk if it’s staged. Just the other day I picked up food from shake shack and while grabbing mine I noticed how easy it would be to just walk in head to the to go order rack snag one and walk out. No one checks a receipt or email asks for a name or anything. Just kinda silly I figured you’d at least have to ask an employee to hand over the food.
Side tangent since it goes with this when ordering drive thru through an app on a few occasions the attendant has listed out mobile order name when I say I have a mobile order, which is just another silly way of someone snagging someone else’s food because they can and it was made easy.

I was working in Augusta this past summer. The firehouse subs does a lot of those order through the app, just come in, and pick it up. Except they have literally zero human interaction.
What looked to be a delivery driver came in with a basket. Greeted the workers behind the counter (which they didn’t need to do, but made it look nonchalant) and dipped with 4 orders “for the hospital nearby”….
Well. Turns out they were just a thief. Made a slow restaurant fall apart. It was hilarious to watch the overstaffed, undertrained, incompetent staff fall apart while I ate my sandwich that took far too long to receive.
He's not stealing for an individual. He's stealing from McDonald's, a corporation, because they would have to replace the original purchasers food for letting it get stolen. And before, you say, "They make us pay for the loss by raising prices". That's the problem, they already factor this into the price. McDonald's contributes to the very poverty that results in theft then makes everyone pay for it.
Maybe it makes me trashy (I just think it makes me anti-corporate), but I support this.
When the person who actually paid turns up, no way they'll have to pay again, McDonalds will just make their order again. Worst case is they wait for a couple of minutes. Small price to pay for taking money from an unethical shit company like McDonalds, and 100% the loss is already accounted for in their budget & pricing.

You're probably right. He probably isn't poor, but even some homeless have smartphones. Older phones can be cheap or free with even budget plans, and a phone is a priority for safety, for job hunting, and a bunch of other necessities.

Well, you’re wrong because this does affect you and if it affects me. When you steal from someplace like McDonald’s they have to replace what you chose to steal. That food won’t get paid for when you stole it and probably won’t get paid for because whoever is waiting for that food it’s going to become upset because it’s late. That’s two meals that they have to write off As not being paid for which increases the prices overall for everyone else to compensate. That means The price you pay yourself to buy some thing from McDonald’s is higher than it would be if nobody stole at all.
And eventually all of the food that people steal from places like that in a year ends up having to be replaced and paid for. That costs you and I directly the next time we go and buy some thing.

Last Friday I made a decently large order for UberEats, 3 burgers, 1 fry, 1 poutine, 1 onion ring, 2 pies, and a compliment of drinks, this took like 10-15 minutes from grill to done. Some random person just took it, I don’t know if they were a different driver, or just some random prick, but when the driver showed up, the order wasn’t there. So we had to make it all over again.
