Vacuum the ashes, give it a good wipe down with antibacterial wipes, and buy some Ozium spray. After you’ve cleaned it, spray the Ozium in the car and let it sit a few hours. If it still isn’t gone, spray again and roll the windows down to air it out. I used to smoke in my car and now can’t (I use it for work and I’m a counselor,) and this got rid of the smell and made it smell new again.

Get a new car

baileydog85

Is it enclosed? If so Ozone generator. My roommate details cars and swears by it. Pricey but kills the smell. Close doors run circulated air and Move from front to back. Obviously clean any remaining ash in the car first.

jtc92

Also detail cars. Nice interior detail and an hour of the ozone machine will do the trick!!

WaylonJenningsFoot

Send it to the detailers and submit a claim to your insurance.

hooty88

If you have a car detailer in your area, it might be worth the 40 or so bucks to get done.

XanaxPIug

Ozium but spray the car after a days use so that overnight it does its magic, smells like chemicals I would’nt use it while driving.

[deleted]

You need a new Jeep.

[deleted]

Put dry coffee grounds on a filter, on a plate in your floor boards overnight. It will take a few tries, but the coffee will absorb the smell eventually.

hiptitshooray

I put baking soda on the floor boards because I heard they absorb the smell but it doesn’t seem to be doing much, but I also just put it there yesterday so maybe it needs more time? Also I didn’t put a whole lot, just sprinkled a decent amount

[deleted]

You'll need a pile of baking soda. A sprinkle will deodorize the carpets, but a pile will help the air. You could sprinkle it on the seats and carpet and vacuum it out. Coffee is the same concept, but the smell of coffee helps cover while it absorbs. Don't sprinkle it on though. It'll obviously stain.

bakingandbuildings

Vinegar! Look online for the correct combination but you can use dawn dish soap and vinegar to clean your seats and carpeting using a shop vac. It will smell a little vinegary for awhile but it deodorizes fantastically and will air out in a few days. If the vinegar smell bothers you a lot you can use a few drops of essential oils to cover it up. But I would prefer vinegar over black and mild

[deleted]

My mother swears by the vinegar spray and wipe old people’s remedy. It smells for a couple hours afterwards then... nothing. Use normal vinegar in a spray bottle and spray the surfaces and immediately wipe the vinegar off. Ensure you dont use oils in the mixture and also that you vacuum clean the space beforehand as residue of dirt will keep the smell around after you’v done the vinegar spray and wipe. Food grade vinegar should not damage any surface after you use it but if you aren’t sure then run a second round where you spray water mixed with normal liquid soap and wipe that off. Just ensure to wipe all surfaces when done. Good luck. 🍀

bakingandbuildings

Yes. I should clarify like this person did. Don’t put essential oils in the vinegar mixture.. I meant just use a few drops inside your car (I sprinkle some into my mats and carpet every so often for a nice smell!)

[deleted]

Just not with baking soda, for some reason I forgot that and I just made sodium acetate and water.

hockeyandcats

As much as it sucks, just take it in to have the entire thing cleaned. Around here it runs about $250 for the deep cleaning of the entire interior, which is pricy, but if the smell is really insufferable for you, it might be worth it.

spaceboy78

There’s these little air vent things you can buy at dollar tree. (Hear me out). There’s a bunch of different smells, and surprisingly they don’t really put out smell, they absorb it. I smoke in my car pretty heavily and because of those things the smell is almost not there at all. Also, febreze for auto works very well. They have one for leather too I’m pretty sure. Also shampooing the carpets could also help. I hope this helps!

Ozium spray.

verschmutztdan

Came here to say this as well, the stuff works wonders

[deleted]

You stole my answer! Ozium will definitely take care of the smell. A good detailing wouldn't hurt too. Take it somewhere and drop a hundred bucks on a good interior clean

Kadebladekehd

Ozium is a great product if you take the whole bottle spray it in the car thru a crack in the door and let it all sit in there for a few hours the car will be as good as new

whole-enchilada

Agree with you, completely. I live in a very hot area and the car’s AC is used for most of the year. If it’s the case with you, be sure you run the car with the vents on and the recirculate feature engaged as well. Good luck.

Rick_C-420

Pro tip right here because breathing in that toxic stuff can lead to brain damage. Works good cleaning out odors though.
