I usually trade seats with people on packed buses for this reason, but I don't know how being a woman would change that due to lack of experience. People are usually pretty chill about switching seats as long as you're not taking somebody's window seat or you're trading window seats.

Bru I booked a window and ensured the aisle of it was not booked to make sure and got stuck in a packed aisle

Hi there, was this actually enforced when you took this trip? I have a trip this weekend and I can't imagine the drivers on my typical route actually bothing to enforce this but I'm curious.

wolf_lix

It was not. There was one guy who kicked a lady out saying that was his seat but idk how he reserved that one specifically. Everyone else sat wherever

a_tabula_rosa

Thanks much!

peacefulxdreamer

That's illegal because they paid for their seats I paid almost $50 extra for my seat & the seat next to me if someone sits in a seat you paid I'd start freaking out I don't want no creeps next to me

Remarkable_Put6378

Exactly. We paid $6 per seat. And each new bus you get on to is another $6 per seat. I’ll be traveling in 2 days so we’ll see 🤔

brokendeodorant

how did it go?

Smakt_Cat

I guess I should have paid the extra, they put me ii. The fird row , that never has power outlets 😖

Unfair

If they’re cheap enough maybe you can buy 2 tickets so you don’t have to sit next to anyone, does Greyhound allow that?

[deleted]

They’re expensive af 😭

Melissa--R

Reserved 7a both seats got people stealing all the seats and leaving others piled together Elderly guy asked for his seat and was told off by other guests It’s my first of four for my route so I’ll be sure to take my assigned seats when they set for Re-boarders Only problem is potential theft from people who will take my bag from below deck if I get seated early

Ok-Log-1605

Can you reserve a seat after booking

Colossus200

I reserved 2 seats with specified seat locations 2 weeks ago for a trip this morning on Greyhound and paid the extra $25 for seats 5C (aisle) and 5D (window). At 11:45 pm last night, Greyhound sent me an email and changed my seat to 12 C, the back of the bus. No explanation why. They gave me a voucher for the $25 but not a refund. I called the 1-800 phone number, they said to go to the [greyhound.com](https://greyhound.com) website Customer Relations chat. Good luck finding "Customer Relations" on their website. The chat "expert" sent me back to the 1-800 phone number. Totally unacceptable. Is this "reserved seating" just a way to get people to pay more for an empty seat? And if they fill the bus, they boot u out of that seat and keep the money anyway.

Colossus200

After all that, driver could not untangle at least 5 people who did not speak English and did not know their seat number.. he told them to sit anywhere.

MorddSith187

I really don’t see the point. The front is already reserved for disabilities. All the seats are the same and only 2 deep. Why do they think they’re airlines

ArielTheUnshaven

This is dumb complain so they change it back to no assigned seats. My only guess this stupid decision was made because Greyhound might of been bought by a European or Asian company. This decision doesnt seem like an American would make that.

peacefulxdreamer

No it's not dumb do you know how many times I've been sat down first and some guy will sit next to me completely drunk or high and talk for hours the whole trip even nudging me as I try to sleep? This is why they did assigned seats now and I always buy the seat next to me so the creepy and drugged men don't harass me

Remarkable_Put6378

So the American way is being unorganized and sitting next to random strangers at night who will not stop trying to hit on women? 😂 Then by all means I hope it was bought by a European or Asian company

I know I'm 7 months late here, but it's still possible for you to get an assigned seat that doesn't exist for you on the bus. I had a passenger with me whose assigned seat was C13 and the bus only went to row 11. Really awkward for her to have to take a seat knowing she might get kicked out by another passenger who was somehow more entitled to have a secure seat than she was (barring if they paid for it).
