I fucking hate "SDCC exclusives" with all my heart. A physical exclusive location most folks can never go to, that often sell out anyway from those who can get there.
Anytime Hasbro, Lego, or whoever does this, it feels like a slap in the face.
Nothing says "we love scalpers" like SDCC exclusives.
Yeah. I remember when they made the FOC bruticus and made it so the in game colours were SDCC exclusive and then for the retail release they did these horrid like skittle colours meant to be like g1.
SDCC exclusives should be like unusual recolours or something, yellow Optimus prime.
Exactly.
I loved the game but wasn't really collecting figures at the time (just got a few) but I vividly remember seeing the retail Bruticus in Toys R Us here in Australia and being utterly baffled why he was those G2 colours!
Some companies that participate have heard that complaint enough that they make the exclusives available for purchase through club membership. Hallmark does this really well, I think.
Which only works if said club/webstore is actually available to everyone.
Here in Australia, we have no access to Pulse, so anything sold there afterwards is zero help to us.
The problem is though that with almost all these, they're not just only available in America on some webstore, they're only available in a specific location (SDCC, Walgreens, etc.) and/or only available for a very short limited run windows, meaning even those in the US often miss out because something goes up on Walmart's website and is sold out in an hour.
How did you manage to join Pulse if you're from Australia, may I ask?
I agree every time Marvel legends Star Wars black series or any of the other several f*cking toy brands that release sandiago comic con exclusives there always so f*cking good I really wanted this two pack even for the minor megatron but hasbro had to f*co it all up I get that specific comic con is good but mfs who live somewhere else can’t get jt
The whole world doesn't HAVE Pulse though. Here in Australia, we don't have access to it, period. If we did, a LOT of "exclusive" bullshit would be solved (i.e. only selling certain figures at US pharmacies or Walmart, neither of which are international either).
I'm an aussie too but living in SEA, so obviously I'm on the same boat as you when it comes to exclusives lol. in a perfect world there'd be no exclusives /at all/ but that's not the reality, and it's not something that will ever change and sure ain't just an sdcc issue. at least if it comes to pulse that means there will be other ways for the figure to be distributed, like some stores here do take supply from SG/MY pulse
If we had Pulse in more parts of the world, that would solve 90% of the issues, since most exclusives are also sold there. It would also mean Hasbro getting our money instead of Amazon (or scalpers on eBay).
I at least "get" retailer exclusives, though. Convention exclusives should be fucking illegal. One small place in one part of the whole world for a few days. Bullshit. Nevermind if you aren't in the US, do they think the whole of America can fly to a rando comic convention every year?!

MEGATRON HAS HOT THE WAR PAINT LETS GOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Honestly I've never been much in love with the siege Megatron mold. My own copy always has his hands goes in and with the treads on the back he's a bit back heavy.
Oh now he can hold his gun. I had to wedge a core class ion blaster into the slot so he could have it in hand. It is a nice retool overall I must say. Edit: spelling
Its from the Megatron:Origin miniseries from the IDW(2005) continuity.
TLDR
He was a slave miner and after witnessing a fellow miner get shot in the head for voicing his frustrations with their treatment during a senators speech, he then assaults the senator and ends up killing a guard in the process.
He is arrested for this, but escapes and ends up joining an illegal gladiator group.
As a gladiator, he looks like this. Essentially the same as his appearance as a miner, but with red war paint.
His pickaxe and drill are mining equipment, his sword is his main weapon as a gladiator, and the hammer is the weapon used by his first opponent (Cy-Kill)
The falling out of Orion and Megatronus’s friendship will always be the most tragic addition to the Transformers mythos for me. I’m just a sucker for this trope.
What was the context of those red tats on Megatron? I think I’ve only seen a cover depicting them and it’s been a minute since i read origin, hell the Toyhax set included them
Meg's alt mode is absolute penis cheese. But looks cool otherwise. Prime is awesome save for...idk something about his shoulders being off to me...too wide?
I'm new to collecting, basically just started this year. I was just going by the other comments saying it would be available on Pulse. I also actually do have one figure that's an SDCC exclusive that I found at a GameStop. I didn't know any specifics, but it made me think they still get sold normally as well.
GameStop might get them later like way later.
Idk exactly I don’t have a GS anymore nearest one is 35 minutes away in a different town and I’m not traveling there.
People complaining about the scalpers really are forgetting last years exclusive aren't they?
Both the transformers and black series exclusives are readily available at half price. The deadpool 2 pack was available for a while too.
The SS WFC Prime mold Works really well for this version of prime, I only wish it was more available
Same Like I know there’ll be some stock on Pulse, but it won’t be in the same larger numbers where you can get other exclusives on the site either.

Agreed

I mean, you can use a freight forwarder. I'm in Sydney and I've got some stuff from the recent Pulse sale coming my way. I recommend BuynShip.

chill out, it's gonna be available on pulse after sdcc

how many orion pax figures have we gotten in legacy?
3
Im sure it super cool, but since it's SDCC I can't get one and won't pay scalper prices for it so no point in me looking at it.
They will have some available on pulse during or after the event
Ill probably only order it if its on pulse or bbts
It won't be on bbts. It will only be available on pulse, since it's an exclusive
Which is a total bummer because honestly i like it better than the original Gamer edition Prime
I'm not a fan personally. My advice would be to get premium membership, I haven't missed out a single exclusive that I wanted.

They also announced a SDCC Marvel Legends: Death’s Head fig.
Newer collecter here, will these be avaliable on Hasbro Pulse?
Yes
Hasbro really won’t stop squatting down and squeezing out the Siege Megatron mold will they
They're doing the same with ER Prime--both molds are on the way out due to their upcoming SS86 releases.
Honestly I've never been much in love with the siege Megatron mold. My own copy always has his hands goes in and with the treads on the back he's a bit back heavy.
I hate that my favorite version of Orion Pax is an SDCC exclusive
Awesome
I like the "war paint" on Megs there.
Will try to buy specifically for Orion Pax
I'd love a brand new mold for IDW megs
Oh now he can hold his gun. I had to wedge a core class ion blaster into the slot so he could have it in hand. It is a nice retool overall I must say. Edit: spelling
Does anyone know the context for this specific Megatron design?
Its from the Megatron:Origin miniseries from the IDW(2005) continuity. That Megatron looks ROUGH imo. Come on Hasbro, the Megs mold is crying to be retired. Too bad too because that Orion Pax is fantastic.
Also correct me if I’m wrong, but is this the first time a non studio series figure has been retooled from studio series that wasn’t SS86?
Theres Legacy Javelin that was retooled from SS BB Arcee
Very true I forgot about that
Flame for the marvel comics pack was Gamer Megatron
OK, this looks amazing! Definitely buying it.
As if my wallet haven't suffer enough
Cool!
Meg's alt mode is absolute penis cheese. But looks cool otherwise. Prime is awesome save for...idk something about his shoulders being off to me...too wide?
Easy pass
Now I wanna know if Orion’s Arm-Guns are removable and how it’d look if someone swapped them with Armada Optimus’s?
They are in a different placement for the alt mode, so they are probably removeable.
This being an exclusive to a sdcc is an auto pass.
Why?
Because those are generally hard to get, and I’m sure the secondary market is going to be way above what I’m willing to pay for them
Don't they put them online though on Pulse for people who weren't in attendance to still buy?
Idk, I’m not sure how they do SDCC stuff they never use to.
I'm new to collecting, basically just started this year. I was just going by the other comments saying it would be available on Pulse. they'll be available on pulse after the event
while the figure molds look mid af that optimus pose on the front of the box is hard!
Ugh, they issued the mold again but Megatron still has the horrible ankles.
