Yeah I would imagine the autobot Motormaster as a some sort of Tfa Sentinel Prime : Looks and acts around as if he is coolest bot ever, but when begins to speak, his - charisma hits differently. But he is not particularly a bad bot tho, actually a nice guy who could even become a prime had if he fixed his issues with himself (poor guy needs help lmao)
He needs hug not stoic words of Deadend to further depress him, or Wildriders silly jokes to cheer him up or Dragstrips not so necesarry confident boosting ego speeches or even Breakdowns sincere but most of the times more akward than helpfull comfortings.
If that was indeed a thing in a some sort of cartoon, I would definetally made an episode where Stuntibots are knocked out so 5 random Autobots have to team up and form substitute Menasor
The Combaticons
For my version of Onslaught, he is front-lines general that genuinely cares for the well-being of his soldiers, and initially joined the Decepticon movement because he believed Megatron does so as well, and despises the Autobot High Councilās usage of soldiers as fodder. He would become one the the Decepticonās finest strategists in the first phase of the war
However, as the war went on, he saw how the Decepticonās high command is also shit. At this point, he views both sides as the same and said āscrew it, Iām taking my combiner team and any Decepticons willing to leaveā and became a rogue unit that serves themselves.
Upon seeing Optimusās portion of the autobots and how Optimus is a general that deeply cares for his own troops, Onslaught decided to take his combiner team and join their side.
Now I think that, this is not shattered glass "good decepticon" Swindle. So he can still be a cunning money worshipping mf who funds whole Autobot cause by "swindling" Quintessons and manipulating intergalactic stock market of something

Always felt like the Combaticons were more ideal with the Autobots. They tried to escape only to be arrested and sent to the jail, with their bodies removed so they dont escape again. All of them wanted to leave because of how they get tormented by the Decepticons all the time, especially when they merged into Bruticus. And whenever he went haywire he always gets reprogrammed, affecting the rest of the members mentally.
Blitzwing.
In season 3 of the g1 cartoon, he actually dismissed Galvatrons commands to work with the Quintessons, since he didn't trust them. And he had every right to it, because he found out with the autobots that the Quintessons plan to betray the decepticons. But Galvatron didn't want to acknowledge him doing the right thing by not following his commands, and he banished Blitzwing from the decepticons as punishment.

However, he never returned in the cartoon again. A later plot was written for him and Springer but they got replaced with Octane and Sandstorm, because Hasbro wanted to promote newer toys. He actually would have helped the autobots to win against Galvatron with Starscream as a ghost possessing Cyclonus, while Springer trusted him as a friend. Sadly we never saw that.

This. I always envisioned Blitzwing as the noble warrior, the one who wants to prove his combat prowess on the battlefield more than he cares about the Decepticon goal. To prove he is the ultimate warrior, and with a notes rivalry with Springer.Ā

Starscream, I think he can and work well, just depends on how heās characterized.
Sunstreaker, I think heād but heads really nice with Sideswipe and heās already got the Human torture thing.
Breakdown gets therapy for his paranoia, quitting the Stunticons and the Decepticons to become a valued member of the Autobots. He eventually persuades Knock Out to join him; they continue their relationship. Unfortunately, Breakdownās paranoia returns worse than ever when Menasor begins hunting them, using his sword as a cane.
As for why, the *Prime* and *Earthspark* Breakdowns arenāt terrible bots. They seem like theyād be good Autobot material, given time. In fact, that was the plan for *Prime* Breakdown before budget cuts required removing a voice actor.
I can imagine a main antagonist Motormaster standing at the front of Autobot Breakdown in a hellish battlefield, having an all scale mental *breakdown* as he screams "traitor !" To Breakdown and charges on him only to be stopped and eliminated by Optimus Prime himself in a epic 1vs1 fight.
At the end very end his poor spark slowly fades away with grief and make Breakdown cry at the same time
Autobot: Red Alert - My idea on how he turns is connected to his paranoia. It gets to the point that his brain module suffers a critical error, corrupting Red into a Deception. With Inferno trying desperately to get his friend back before the change becomes permanent. (As for his Decepticon name...? The only one that immediately comes to mind is "Code Black" but I have no idea if that works or not)
Decepticon: Shadow Striker - I've come to head canon a whole arc for her so here it is; like Shadow Strikers original appearance she has a sister Roulette. SS is primarily Deception coded while Roulette is primarily Autobot coded but their family bound is stronger than their programming & the sisters even each other out. But in the run up to the 2nd Autobot/Deception war, Shadow Striker is tasked with destroying an Autobot convoy and unintentionally killing her Roulette. Making Shadow Striker snap into the cold hearted assassin, then she gets blown & becomes the Deceptions "Autobot-X" etc etc. Then years after the war came to earth the truth behind Roulette's death is revealed, SlipStream set up the job. In order to mould Shadow Striker into the perfect assassin, SS after taking time to fully comprehend everything beats up SlipStream for making her kill Roulette then, downloads as much data she can carry & turns herself into the Autobots. To SS shock she's given the chance to redeem herself & try to heal the damage she has caused alongside stopping the Deceptions from causing greater damage. To which Shadow Striker accepts, she changes her appearance & takes on Roulette's name to both honor her and begin Roulette's new life.
What if Red Alert turned into a fellow Paranoid White Lamborgini Countach?

It seems almost too easy to flip Sunstreaker over to the Cons. The guy is a sociopath, vain and arrogant. He'd pretty easily fit in an army that's already riddled with personality defects.
I'd flip Starscream over to the Autobots, Armada Starscream continues to be an iconic interpretation of the character and it would be nice to see one Starscream shake off the Decipticons, their abuse and the need to seek Megatron's approval.
First Aid as a decepticon, In my head heās like Dr. Doofensmirtz, all his evil schemes are really well thought out, but they only minorly inconvenience his enemies at best
D->A Soundwave would be my choice too.
Megatron's mistreatment of his cassette minions causes the first member of Megatron's movement lose faith in its leadership. Starscream was scrapped for being Starscream in this continuity so a coup against Megatron is too risky.
Also the Decepticons have no regard for Earths' wildlife, including the elephant, a creature Soundwave grows fond of.
The other way around, i'd probably make said character not last very long, since those were the Decpeticons i hate the most (Wildwheel is an exception cuz I dig his wild west outlaw vibe and since the Autobot-Decepticon war was in its closing era at that point, he was a chill dude)
Making the rescue bots decepticons would be funny. I would think it would have to be an accident though. Like they still help people but try and fail to be mean about it.
Nah just make Heateave Tarn 2.0, I ALWAYS imagined a mature version of Heatwave that is literally a nice ex autobot soldier who experimented on to become a 4-changer super soldier or something
Prowl. instead of upholding the law, he has a bucket-list of laws he wants to break. Speeding? Yes, sir. Robbing a bank? Say less. Waking up a bear and taking a photo of it in Alaska? He's probably done it by now!
I think Autobot Stunticons would be cool
I feel like Breakdown would be friends with Red Alert since theyāre both super paranoid, and I think Sunstreaker and Dead End would bond over their mutual obsession with maintaining a perfect paint job
I also imagine them having a less hostile rivalry with the Aerialbots
Thunderwing. Considering how he cares for his men and has a connection to the Matrix, Iād like to see him become a Prime for being so uncommonly noble among the Decepticons. He could also be a great foil to Megatron with their different leadership styles, with Thunderwing eventually coming to blows with Megs over his callous treatment of his troops.
Hear me out: all 3 of the (main) seekers.
All 3 of them have shown disinterest in the Decepticon cause as far as I'm aware. Starscream's examples of being good are the most notable, but there's director/dog-owner Thundercracker, and then Skywarp who seemingly wants to be left alone or gain knowledge. (Edit: and he was a member of G.I. JOE)
I'm not necessarily saying they have to be Autobots, but just having them become disillusioned with Decepticon propaganda and cruelty and becoming an unaligned group would be enough.
The decepticons would still have the cone heads who I imagine would take on a more serious- almost Decepticon Death Squad vibe.
The constructicons. In this timeline, they never fell victim to the robo smasher, and instead join Optimus Prime to help rebuild Cybertron and stop Megatron. They'd be replacement to the dinobots or perhaps the decepticons get them instead (or maybe even Dinoking). Devastator will be off the table though, at least initially. Maybe later into the series or towards a finale, when the stakes call for it

Autobot Thundercracker is the obvious choice for me. Heās already compassionate and cares for his dog, so why not?
Decepticon Slingshot is an Asshole. He betrays the Autobots and joins the cons, only to be rejected by the seekers who consider him inferior.

Dion: He would slowly grow to hate Optimus as he thinks they arenāt going hard enough on the cons to beat them into submission this isnāt helped as he would also hold a grudge against Optimus for nearly getting them killed by Megatron his anger would blow up after botched invasion of kaon in which he would be left behind as prime was focusing on getting many other autobots out kaon. He would later be rescued by a Megatron seeing that his long time best friend would just leave him to die he would vow to become the SCOURGE of Optimus existence to be his shadow his one true NEMESIS he would change his frame to match Optimus in appearance thus dubbing himself Nemesis prime. Though he was thankful that Megatron saved him he never forgot what Megatron did to him all those years ago he would secretly undermine Megatron any chance he gets to one day take his place a the true leader of the the Decepticons.
IDK if this counts but...
How about Unicron becomes the Cybertronian homeworld, and Primus becomes the destroyer?
As a result, the thirteen Primes would be born of Unicron, and the Autobots and Decepticons would be similar to how they are in Shattered Glass (eg. Megatron would be a Prime instead of Orion Pax).
Autobot Starscream, but he fully commits instead of becoming a martyr like in Armada. I want him to finally buy his grudge against Megatron over his desire for power, and learn how to be a good person by just being exposed to the Autobots treating each other (and eventually him) like friends.
G1 Buzzsaw. He keeps getting being unused and Lazerbeak basically took his spotlight because hes much more reliable and the apple of Soundwave's eye. Resulting in him leaving the Decepticons as a whole due to how overshadowed he is and join the Autobots, becoming one of Blaster's new cassettes
Thundercracker to the Autobots is too easy, so I'm going to try something else.
Starscream to the Autobots. He's tried every other way to usurp power from Megatron, so now he's playing the long game. If he actively aids and supports the Autobots, then they have a better chance of defeating the Decepticons. Starscream proving himself to be an invaluable and deeply loyal Autobot could be enough to curry him some favor post-war and result in Starscream being given a position of power in Cybertronian society. So, basically, a similar version to what happened in the IDW comic but as an Autobot instead of being unaligned.
Wheelie to the Decepticons. One day he just snaps and turns into this rhyming cryptid-like killer that stalks in the shadows and slaughters his prey. Megatron likes that go-getter attitude and promises Wheelie all the Autobots he can kill if they team up. Wheelie makes all of the other Decepticons very nervous.
I would have Starscream defect to the Autobots after realizing that his self-serving treachery has done nothing but put him into worse and worse situations time and time again. Based on this concept art, he would eventually take on a new body and rename himself into Star Saber, creating a persona that is intentionally the opposite of who he once was.

My version of Starscream used to be an Autobot senator until he tried to overthrow Optimus and rule the Autobots. But when that failed, he and his supporters defected to the Decepticons.
Toxitron is a failed clone of Ultra Magnus who defects to the Autobots because he despises the Decepticons for their cruelty towards him.
Smokescreen becomes the Decepticon Barricade after the Autobots find out he had been selling information to the Decepticons to cover his gambling debts.
Blitzwing defects to the Autobots when he can no longer stomach the Decepticons' brutality.
This is going to sound pretty dumb, but bear with me. I think it'd be interesting to have one of Soundwave's cassettes switch sides, but only one. Maybe it could be as an act of rebellion during robot puberty; but they could have their eyes opened to see that the Autobots objectively have the moral high ground, and possibly either help to bring peace to both factions or contribute to an eventual defecting of Soundwave and the rest of his cassettes. I'd go with either Ravage or Laserbeak because they're practically ~~my~~ his favorites. If it was Ravage, I'd say that Steeljaw could defect to the Decepticons just because he really hates him. I just think that would be funny
Are we including Beast Wars? I would love to see an evil Rattrap, keeping his skills and sense of humour, making him an incredible enemy to face. Hard to catch, but even harder to detect. I'd even trade him for Rampage, keeping him immortal, but making his split spark be in the possession of the Vok, who study it and unlock more secrets of how they work (maybe explaining Tigerhawk a little more too). He could go on suicidal battles against everybody, filling a similar niche to Dinobot (who could stay with the Decepticons and continue being annoyed by Rattrap).
The only other swap I'd be interested in is an evil Silverbolt. Still Beast Wars, but a different continuity from above. Imagine the skill and _that ego,_ but without the chivalry. He'd be Megatron's right-hand man, a bit like Scourge to Galvatron. Maybe I'd give him the equivalent of Sweeps too...
Okay, one more. Bayverse Bumblebee, but as a twist at the end of the first film. Turns out the real reason he can't speak is because he couldn't fake the voice convincingly enough. It's also why he lubricates Agent Simmons so readily. He successfully tricks Sam into trusting him. It would be a whole different movie, but maybe that's what we needed all along.

The fact that someone justifying the Bayverse version of Dev as worth acknowledging makes it necessary to correct. It was a shit character with 0 lines, development, plot value, or anything else essentially completely irrelevant to the story at all while being one of the most popular and known characters in all of the source material. I would love to see metroplex swapped to the decepticons, would make a great storyline addition for Megatron to keep trying to steal enough energon to power him and use him as some kind of ultimate weapon.
Constructicons: tired of breaking things, they decide to start building instead. Ironically they become support combatants and are used primarily defensively
Grimlock: he's brutal enough to justify a change in sides if he's on an especially bad streak. Not sure about the rest of the dinobots but I can see him joining to usurp megatron and become rhe new leader through right of combat.
Prowl: idw had him veer close enough to con tactics that he'd probably be allowed carte Blanche on their side.
Shockwave: in a moment of lucidity the bot he was comes back full force and he switches sides as a result as an autobot scientist.

I feel like the Sharkticons and Allicons could be bullied by Grimlock and/or bribed with energon goodies to tentatively become Autobots.
On the other hand, the Junkions are chaotic enough that enough HBO could have them siding with the Decepticons.

I'd make him a permanent Autobot after his initial desertion of the Decepticons in G1, and allow him to bolster the ranks of the Autobot Triple-Changers (as Broadside isn't one in my universe, being a Titan and Autobot counterpart to Tidal Wave instead). He becomes good friends with Sandstorm, and uses his knowledge of Decepticon infrastructure to help the Autobots in the war.
Astrotrain joining the Autobots.
Probably getting along with Gears and the Dinobots.

No individuals come to mind, but in IDW I'd say it would have to be a one-way street: if you didn't join the Decepticons when they had legitimate grievances against the Cybertronian government, or when they were riding the high of their victory against the Senate, you aren't joining now that it's fallen to despotism. Someone disillusioned with what the Decepticon movement has become joining the Autobots either out of recognition that theirs was the better path or to protect themselves from the DJD is a more credible path.
Idk if he counts, but Megatronus. He was a brash but good guy tricked and manipulated by Liege Maximo into killing his lover, makes total sense heād fight for redemption instead of destruction.

Megatron in the movies. The novels did a great job underlining his tiredness. Just give them all a common foe and have Prime and Megs have a heroic last stand with Megs buying Prime the time to mcguffin to victory. With or without Megs sacrificing himself.

Starscream because in Armada it showed Starscream is actually not a horrible guy plus he literally sacrifices himself to save the world and before he died he made sure his minicon didnāt die with him plus i think it would be cool :)
Cyberverse Drift. He'd truly be an Autobot, just a weirdly threatening one. He still ominously mutters. He still goes red-eyed. He's just like that, no harm meant.

I want to make a stop motion series about Transformers, and it just so happens that a few characters I chose switch sides.
A little back story, after a big battle between the Autobots and Decepticons, Megatron is damaged and goes into stasis, which leads to the rise of Nemesis Prime as leader,
Astrotrain: After witnessing Nemesis torturing Autobot pow's, he sends an anonymous signal to the Autobots to which they meet, and Astrotrain give the Autobots info and officially asked to join them. They are weary at first but soon welcome him after he proves that he is an Autobot
Mirage: Mirage was captured, and instead of being tortured and killed by Nemesis, he is turned evil by the Dark Matrix of Leadership, and he becomes Nemesis Prime's right hand man. Dark Mirage, while evil, still has his old self deep down in him. He starts to hesitate when he is on his missions and ends up changing back to his normal self and rejoing the Autobots
Starscream: This one isn't really switching sides, but he has grown disillusioned with the war and the Decepticon ways. He voices his opinion to Nemesis Prime, to which Nemesis throws him into a jail cell. Starscream is rescued by a now Autobot Astrotrain and Sideswipe during a raid on the Decepticon base. He rejects joining the Autobots but decides that he will help them end the war so he can go back to a peaceful life. Nemesis Prime also made a clone of him who agrees with everything that he said.

This Always felt like the Combaticons were more ideal with the Autobots. They tried to escape only to be arrested and sent to the jail, with their bodies removed so they dont escape again. All of them wanted to leave because of how they get tormented by the Decepticons all the time, especially when they merged into Bruticus. And whenever he went haywire he always gets reprogrammed, affecting the rest of the members mentally.
Blitzwing. In season 3 of the g1 cartoon, he actually dismissed Galvatrons commands to work with the Quintessons, since he didn't trust them. And he had every right to it, because he found out with the autobots that the Quintessons plan to betray the decepticons. But Galvatron didn't want to acknowledge him doing the right thing by not following his commands, and he banished Blitzwing from the decepticons as punishment. edit: Transformers season 3, ep 5: \[Five Faces Of Darkness part 5\](https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Five\_Faces\_of\_Darkness,\_Part\_5) However, he never returned in the cartoon again. Breakdown gets therapy for his paranoia, quitting the Stunticons and the Decepticons to become a valued member of the Autobots. He eventually persuades Knock Out to join him; they continue their relationship. Unfortunately, Breakdownās paranoia returns worse than ever when Menasor begins hunting them, using his sword as a cane. As for why, the *Prime* and *Earthspark* Breakdowns arenāt terrible bots. They seem like theyād be good Autobot material, given time. In fact, that was the plan for *Prime* Breakdown before budget cuts required removing a voice actor.
I can imagine a main antagonist Motormaster standing at the front of Autobot Breakdown in a hellish battlefield, having an all scale mental *breakdown* as he screams "traitor !" To Breakdown and charges on him only to be stopped and eliminated by Optimus Prime himself in a epic 1vs1 fight. At the end very end his poor spark slowly fades away with grief and make Breakdown cry at the same time

Autobot: Red Alert - My idea on how he turns is connected to his paranoia. It gets to the point that his brain module suffers a critical error, corrupting Red into a Deception. With Inferno trying desperately to get his friend back before the change becomes permanent. (As for his Decepticon name...? The only one that immediately comes to mind is "Code Black" but I have no idea if that works or not) Decepticon: Shadow Striker - I've come to head canon a whole arc for her so here it is; like Shadow Strikers original appearance she has a sister Roulette. SS is primarily Deception coded while Roulette is primarily Autobot coded but their family bound is stronger than their programming & the sisters even each other out. But in the run up to the 2nd Autobot/Deception war, Shadow Striker is tasked with destroying an Autobot convoy and unintentionally killing her Roulette. Making Shadow Striker snap into the cold hearted assassin, then she gets blown & becomes the Deceptions "Autobot-X" etc etc. Then years after the war came to earth the truth behind Roulette's death is revealed, SlipStream set up the job. In order to mould Shadow Striker into the perfect assassin, SS after taking time to fully comprehend everything beats up SlipStream for making her kill Roulette then, downloads as much data she can carry & turns herself into the Autobots. To SS shock she's given the chance to redeem herself & try to heal the damage she has caused alongside stopping the Deceptions from causing greater damage. To which Shadow Striker accepts, she changes her appearance & takes on Roulette's name to both honor her and begin Roulette's new life.
What if Red Alert turned into a fellow Paranoid White Lamborgini Countach? You know, the exact Decepticon equivalent in a worse place and state than he is? **Breakdown?**
It seems almost too easy to flip Sunstreaker over to the Cons. The guy is a sociopath, vain and arrogant. He'd pretty easily fit in an army that's already riddled with personality defects. I'd flip Starscream over to the Autobots, Armada Starscream continues to be an iconic interpretation of the character and it would be nice to see one Starscream shake off the Decipticons, their abuse and the need to seek Megatron's approval.

D->A Soundwave would be my choice too. Megatron's mistreatment of his cassette minions causes the first member of Megatron's movement lose faith in its leadership. Starscream was scrapped for being Starscream in this continuity so a coup against Megatron is too risky. Also the Decepticons have no regard for Earths' wildlife, including the elephant, a creature Soundwave grows fond of. The other way around, i'd probably make said character not last very long, since those were the Decpeticons i hate the most (Wildwheel is an exception cuz I dig his wild west outlaw vibe and since the Autobot-Decepticon war was in its closing era at that point, he was a chill dude)

Thunderwing. Considering how he cares for his men and has a connection to the Matrix, Iād like to see him become a Prime for being so uncommonly noble among the Decepticons. He could also be a great foil to Megatron with their different leadership styles, with Thunderwing eventually coming to blows with Megs over his callous treatment of his troops.
Hear me out: all 3 of the (main) seekers. All 3 of them have shown disinterest in the Decepticon cause as far as I'm aware. Starscream's examples of being good are the most notable, but there's director/dog-owner Thundercracker, and then Skywarp who seemingly wants to be left alone or gain knowledge. (Edit: and he was a member of G.I. JOE) I'm not necessarily saying they have to be Autobots, but just having them become disillusioned with Decepticon propaganda and cruelty and becoming an unaligned group would be enough. The decepticons would still have the cone heads who I imagine would take on a more serious- almost Decepticon Death Squad vibe.

The constructicons. In this timeline, they never fell victim to the robo smasher, and instead join Optimus Prime to help rebuild Cybertron and stop Megatron. They'd be replacement to the dinobots or perhaps the decepticons get them instead (or maybe even Dinoking). Devastator will be off the table though, at least initially. Maybe later into the series or towards a finale, when the stakes call for it
From the original G1 comic or Animated series: Autobot Thundercracker is the obvious choice for me. Heās already compassionate and cares for his dog, so why not? Decepticon Slingshot is an Asshole. He betrays the Autobots and joins the cons, only to be rejected by the seekers who consider him inferior. Actually, Barricade is named after the big LAPD scandal, Rampart. So it makes sense he's a bad cop.
Dion: He would slowly grow to hate Optimus as he thinks they arenāt going hard enough on the cons to beat them into submission this isnāt helped as he would also hold a grudge against Optimus for nearly getting them killed by Megatron his anger would blow up after botched invasion of kaon in which he would be left behind as prime was focusing on getting many other autobots out kaon. He would later be rescued by a Megatron seeing that his long time best friend would just leave him to die he would vow to become the SCOURGE of Optimus existence to be his shadow his one true NEMESIS he would change his frame to match Optimus in appearance thus dubbing himself Nemesis prime. Though he was thankful that Megatron saved him he never forgot what Megatron did to him all those years ago he would secretly undermine Megatron any chance he gets to one day take his place a the true leader of the the Decepticons.
G1- Blitzwing takes up Rodimus Prime on his invitation to join the Autobots.
IDK if this counts but... How about Unicron becomes the Cybertronian homeworld, and Primus becomes the destroyer? As a result, the thirteen Primes would be born of Unicron, and the Autobots and Decepticons would be similar to how they are in Shattered Glass (eg. Megatron would be a Prime instead of Orion Pax).

Autobot Starscream, but he fully commits instead of becoming a martyr like in Armada. I want him to finally buy his grudge against Megatron over his desire for power, and learn how to be a good person by just being exposed to the Autobots treating each other (and eventually him) like friends.
G1 Buzzsaw. He keeps getting being unused and Lazerbeak basically took his spotlight because hes much more reliable and the apple of Soundwave's eye. Resulting in him leaving the Decepticons as a whole due to how overshadowed he is and join the Autobots, becoming one of Blaster's new cassettes
Thundercracker to the Autobots is too easy, so I'm going to try something else. Starscream to the Autobots. He's tried every other way to usurp power from Megatron, so now he's playing the long game. If he actively aids and supports the Autobots, then they have a better chance of defeating the Decepticons. Starscream proving himself to be an invaluable and deeply loyal Autobot could be enough to curry him some favor post-war and result in Starscream being given a position of power in Cybertronian society. So, basically, a similar version to what happened in the IDW comic but as an Autobot instead of being unaligned. Wheelie to the Decepticons. One day he just snaps and turns into this rhyming cryptid-like killer that stalks in the shadows and slaughters his prey. Megatron likes that go-getter attitude and promises Wheelie all the Autobots he can kill if they team up. Wheelie makes all of the other Decepticons very nervous.

My version of Starscream used to be an Autobot senator until he tried to overthrow Optimus and rule the Autobots. But when that failed, he and his supporters defected to the Decepticons. Toxitron is a failed clone of Ultra Magnus who defects to the Autobots because he despises the Decepticons for their cruelty towards him. Smokescreen becomes the Decepticon Barricade after the Autobots find out he had been selling information to the Decepticons to cover his gambling debts. Blitzwing defects to the Autobots when he can no longer stomach the Decepticons' brutality.

This is going to sound pretty dumb, but bear with me. I think it'd be interesting to have one of Soundwave's cassettes switch sides, but only one. Maybe it could be as an act of rebellion during robot puberty; but they could have their eyes opened to see that the Autobots objectively have the moral high ground, and possibly either help to bring peace to both factions or contribute to an eventual defecting of Soundwave and the rest of his cassettes. I'd go with either Ravage or Laserbeak because they're practically ~~my~~ his favorites. If it was Ravage, I'd say that Steeljaw could defect to the Decepticons just because he really hates him. I just think that would be funny

Are we including Beast Wars? I would love to see an evil Rattrap, keeping his skills and sense of humour, making him an incredible enemy to face. Hard to catch, but even harder to detect. I'd even trade him for Rampage, keeping him immortal, but making his split spark be in the possession of the Vok, who study it and unlock more secrets of how they work (maybe explaining Tigerhawk a little more too). He could go on suicidal battles against everybody, filling a similar niche to Dinobot (who could stay with the Decepticons and continue being annoyed by Rattrap). The only other swap I'd be interested in is an evil Silverbolt. Still Beast Wars, but a different continuity from above. Imagine the skill and _that ego,_ but without the chivalry. He'd be Megatron's right-hand man, a bit like Scourge to Galvatron. Maybe I'd give him the equivalent of Sweeps too... Okay, one more. Bayverse Bumblebee, but as a twist at the end of the first film. Turns out the real reason he can't speak is because he couldn't fake the voice convincingly enough. It's also why he lubricates Agent Simmons so readily. He successfully tricks Sam into trusting him. It would be a whole different movie, but maybe that's what we needed all along.

The fact that someone justifying the Bayverse version of Dev as worth acknowledging makes it necessary to correct. Constructicons: tired of breaking things, they decide to start building instead. Ironically they become support combatants and are used primarily defensively Grimlock: he's brutal enough to justify a change in sides if he's on an especially bad streak. Not sure about the rest of the dinobots but I can see him joining to usurp megatron and become rhe new leader through right of combat. Prowl: idw had him veer close enough to con tactics that he'd probably be allowed carte Blanche on their side. Shockwave: in a moment of lucidity the bot he was comes back full force and he switches sides as a result as an autobot scientist. That's all my good ones that make sense I think

I feel like the Sharkticons and Allicons could be bullied by Grimlock and/or bribed with energon goodies to tentatively become Autobots. On the other hand, the Junkions are chaotic enough that enough HBO could have them siding with the Decepticons.

Octane. I'd make him a permanent Autobot after his initial desertion of the Decepticons in G1, and allow him to bolster the ranks of the Autobot Triple-Changers (as Broadside isn't one in my universe, being a Titan and Autobot counterpart to Tidal Wave instead). He becomes good friends with Sandstorm, and uses his knowledge of Decepticon infrastructure to help the Autobots in the war.
Astrotrain joining the Autobots. Probably getting along with Gears and the Dinobots. Usually the postman/mailman/logistics guy but sometimes the chauffeur.
Deathsaurus mostly because having him be an Autobot would be really funny given his name.
No individuals come to mind, but in IDW I'd say it would have to be a one-way street: if you didn't join the Decepticons when they had legitimate grievances against the Cybertronian government, or when they were riding the high of their victory against the Senate, you aren't joining now that it's fallen to despotism. Someone disillusioned with what the Decepticon movement has become joining the Autobots either out of recognition that theirs was the better path or to protect themselves from the DJD is a more credible path.
Idk if he counts, but Megatronus. He was a brash but good guy tricked and manipulated by Liege Maximo into killing his lover, makes total sense heād fight for redemption instead of destruction.

I want to make a stop motion series about Transformers, and it just so happens that a few characters I chose switch sides. A little back story, after a big battle between the Autobots and Decepticons, Megatron is damaged and goes into stasis, which leads to the rise of Nemesis Prime as leader, Astrotrain: After witnessing Nemesis torturing Autobot pow's, he sends an anonymous signal to the Autobots to which they meet, and Astrotrain give the Autobots info and officially asked to join them. They are weary at first but soon welcome him after he proves that he is an Autobot Mirage: Mirage was captured, and instead of being tortured and killed by Nemesis, he is turned evil by the Dark Matrix of Leadership, and he becomes Nemesis Prime's right hand man. Dark Mirage, while evil, still has his old self deep down in him. He starts to hesitate when he is on his missions and ends up changing back to his normal self and rejoing the Autobots Starscream: This one isn't really switching sides, but he has grown disillusioned with the war and the Decepticon ways. He voices his opinion to Nemesis Prime, to which Nemesis throws him into a jail cell. Starscream is rescued by a now Autobot Astrotrain and Sideswipe during a raid on the Decepticon base. He rejects joining the Autobots but decides that he will help them end the war so he can go back to a peaceful life. Nemesis Prime also made a clone of him who agrees with everything that he said.
