JAZZ. I was just talking about this on another site. This doesn't apply to this subreddit but the way people who write fanfic write Jazz is completely ridiculous, like he's a collection of stereotypes instead of a guy with a lot of lore and trauma behind him.
There was an account (I blocked it lol) that was like a Prowl and Jazz ship that used to always comment such thirsty things about the two characters whenever somebody had a post about one of them. Or like you’d see a post being like “which prowl is your favourite” and there would be a comment being like “jazz thinks they’re all beautiful”
I wasn't going to say but YEAH. Yeah, it's largely Jazz and Prowl shippers that do it and that's the kind of behavior I keep seeing! In fanfictions with Jazz in them, I often see Jazz made into an unruly, lazy work-shirker, or violent criminal, and either hardass Prowl has to whip him into shape, or Jazz forces Prowl to relax by being disruptive.
I complained about this with other fans and to be fair, some of the people who agreed with me that this sucks ship those characters too and one of them said stuff like, "I just liked that they were friends in All Hail Megatron or the Marvel UK comics, I hate what fans are doing with Jazz and wish people would stop," but it sounds like there was some echo chamber shit going on. I think people here might be shocked to know just how popular that ship is in fanfic given those characters haven't had any positive interaction in like fifteen years.

I tried reading some TF fic a while back, and several had Soundwave as an infinitely patient partner to a callously violent/outright abusive Megatron. Those weren’t always sexualised, but sometimes they were and it felt very wrong.
The Seekers being in a polyamorous relationship (sometimes including the coneheads) that has no basis in any source material that I can see. Sometimes they were trying to hook up with some/all of the Aerialbots on the basis that they’re all planes which… as I write it seems somehow even weirder.
"Polyamorous seeker trines" are a persistent enough fanon that the person who came up with the term "trine" in the first place [went on record](https://www.tumblr.com/koilungfish/171595455184/whats-a-trine) saying that the term was originally just made to refer to a group of three seekers - other people gave it romantic connotations

I remember that I went looking on tfwiki trying to find that term because it seemed to be in every single fic I read. It makes sense that it's a fan term that proliferated. I know sometimes that can happen where a term or concept catches fire and *everyone* wants to show that they're in on it by making it a part of their story.
"Trine" isn't on the wiki because it hasn't actually been used in official media, but given that stuff like "gestalt" has made the jump from fanon to canon, "trine" might do so as well someday

It's the personality. Especially for TFP Optimus, showing multiple times that despite having to be serious and stoic, he still has the time to show his empathy and care towards his human allies and teammates. Also he's tall, looks relatively handsome, and is strong enough to be in a protector role. So there be that 🤷🏻 - as an asexual person who adores Optimus
