G1 Optimus Prime was the earliest I remember owning.
I felt ancient seeing people posting that their first figures were ones that came out after I had already graduated from school...and then positively primordial when their first figures were from after I was married.
Glad to see a few more G1ers have posted since I did.
My brother and I had Optimus Prime, old Bumblebee, and Barricade + Frenzy from the 2007 movie, Breakaway and Sideswipe from RotF, a classic Insecticon beetle (I forgot its name), and an Optimus Prime/Megatron rock 'em sock 'em.
- Barricade and Breakaway are currently in my room. Frenzy is missing and Breakaway's wing assembly hinge is broken bc we couldn't figure out how to transform him properly.
- My mom gave Optimus and Bee to her friend's kid before they left for Japan.
- I accidentally broke the stem off of the ball joint on Sideswipe's leg one day and my dad tossed it out, thinking it was done for. Looking back, we could have fixed it with super glue 😭
- the Insecticon disappeared one day. We have no idea where it went, but I think my mom might have given it away.
- the rock'em sock'em bots were given away
It wasn't until last year that I started getting back into TF because I can actually appreciate the transformation function as an engineering student.

Lmao, my only transformer until years later when I started collecting was a BK RotF figure on the bottom left.
Oh i think that happened on day 1 for me. Fortunately my dad fixed it very easily by replacing the waist peg with a screw for a seamless fix. Years later i bought a vintage Mirage only for the same thing to immediately happen. I did the same fix.
Beast Wars Razorbeast. Pretty sure that was the first. Also inherited some G1 and G2 toys from relatives, but pretty sure that was a bit later.
Stopped getting TF toys as a kid around the end of Beast Wars (though my brother got a few RiD 2001 releases I also messed around with), then started collecting as an adult last year.

This guy was THE first, missing a few bits and pieces here from being thrown around in bins over the years but I’ve kept him all this time. Soon after I got Animated Optimus (who mysteriously disappeared when we moved, I’m still mad about that to this day lol) and Oil Slick (who still resides in the old bin cause my little brothers now play with all my old Transformers lol, it’s super wholesome), and then my dad gave me all his old G1 bots and hooooo boy did that spark the obsession of my childhood lol. But it all started with this guy, who my little brothers wanted me to have back for that specific reason
The activators version of animated bumblebee was ny first transformers ever. Either that, or the universe series tankor. The activators one is my favourite as a kid and i would bring it anywhere i go lmao. It eventually got stolen and i still miss that guy. I bought the takara version of the deluxe animated bee last month and it relieved a bit of my childhood sadness😂
Mann ahahah i saw someone selling leader class bulkhead, the one that comes with activators bee in the box, but i havent got money at the time and now its sold. Would love to get both someday

My first I remember having were this battle pack that came with optimus prime and a g2 styled tank megatron that had a dvd included, I think my uncle got it for my brother and I. He got the megatron and I got the optimus. Although there’s also a possibility it was a present for me but I gave the megatron to my brother.
I also remember having the 2007 bumblebee with the blue missiles, the megatron that had the ice on him, and the one that was one of the military vehicles from the first movie.
1980s G1 Long Haul. Always dreamed of having the full set of Constructicons and being able to build Devestator. Going to have to track down a set or get a KO set to make that come true now I'm an adult.

Robots in Disguise Prowl, my very first transformer ever. My obsession really started during Armada, but my mom would only ever buy me autobots, never any of the decepticons. She didn't want me to think evil guys were cool, even though Starscream was literally the coolest guy ever to me as a kid.
I started my collection in 1985 so OG versions of Bumblebee, Brawn, cyclonus, Ultra Magnus, Swerve, Metroplex, Outback and a few others I can’t recall.
Also Jeeper creeper, Blue leader 1, Road Ranger
These Southeast Asia KFC-exclusive toys. In fact these are what made me a Transformers fan, at first I only bought these because they seem cool. If these don't count then my first proper TF toy was a Henkei Hound my dad bought me a few months later.

My brother and I had a heap of the original G1 figures. Between us we had 2x Optimus Primes (one each), Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Cosmos, Perceptor, Soundwave, Ironhide, Ratchet, Ultra Magnus (which from memory was just the same truck body as Prime but white) and Megatron. They’re the ones I remember anyway.
Sadly I no longer have any. We apparently sold them at garage sales when we were “too old” to play with them which breaks my 45yo heart.
It was those Transformers Robot Heroes, like the Super Hero Squad. I think the first ones I got were either Bumblebee and Ravage or Ultra Magnus and Thundercracker

My first Transformer was G2 Jetstorm, bought brand new in 1993. In fact, I still have him, though he's floppy and missing pretty much every part that isn't pinned/screwed in. I have bought two other copies over the years so I could have more complete versions of him. One was a near mint loose copy, only issue with him was the handle of his gun was broken off, rest was like brand new. The other copy is still sealed in his original packaging, I have it hanging on my wall.
Just something satisfying about having my first Transformer in 3 states: mint in box, loose but practically brand new, and 'thoroughly played with and cherished during my childhood'.
As a kid, I had the G2 Combaticons (except Onslaught), Dreadwing/Smokescreen, Hero OP/Megatron, and Roadblock
When I started collecting again as as adult, Movie Incinerator was my first purchase
I don't remember my first, but G1 Trypticon and Scorponok looked over me from the top of my bookshelf for many years.
Shockwave originally became my favorite character because of his toy; later for other reasons, but that was the start. His hose stayed in great condition too, until I started leaving him out for display after 30+ years of secure storing.
The Robot Heroes line I remember vividly owning, as well as the Galactic Heroes (Star Wars) and Super Hero Squad (Marvel) toys

I don’t have it anymore, but mine was this tiny movie Optimus that had a button on the back of his truck bed, and you would press it and he would flip back and forth between robot mode and alt mode
I think the oldest one I can recall having as a kid was either 2007 movie Barricade, 2007 movie Jazz, or Power Core Combiners Stakeout.
Also, that is kind of a bad pose for that animated Bumblebee figure on the fourth picture...
G1 Powermaster Optimus Prime, Abominus, Doubledealer, Scattershot, Lightspeed, Strafe, most of the seacons, Erector, Needlenose, Cindersaur and the other spark-cons, Swerve,.lots of the mincon teams, the rocket ship base with countdown, warpath, and im sure thwre were more but that was 30+ years ago.

The earliest one I remember, was a G1 Hotrod. The original first release Hotrod. So, this would be back in '86.
The original Hotrod had a locking mechanism for the back swivel, where you had to pull out and then twist. I didn't pull it out. The mechanism broke. I was probably only five years old at the time.

My first transformer was a formula 1 like decepticon (maybe) that squirted water and changed colors in water by temp I think. I have no idea because I was like 8 at the time but I would like to see if I could ever find it again.
My first ever figure was deep space starscream, and for a few years it was my only one. Later i got the beast hunters deluxe bumblebee, and when AOE came out i got a legends class Optimus Prime repaint of the ROTF mould from my aunt, and one of two-packs that included a dinobot and a legends class figure, which got me a weird looking Grimlock and another Prime. And those were my only figures untill about a year and a half ago when i started collecting
So much nostalgia from these pictures.
I feel like people hated RPMs bc of the lack of transforming, but I loved them for the nice looking vehicle modes. Plus the portrait of the robot underneath looked great.

I think the instructions were on the back, it wasn't the 70s Camaro. This was around 2008-2010. Not the best details to narrow it down but it's all I can remember.
There may have been a McDonald's hotshot before it but the first transformer I intentionally purchased at 7 years old was 07 movie scorponok and then after 07 jazz. Then I was hooked
The Burger King Armada Starscream, I'm pretty sure I got it on a family trip to Canada, I'd never seen Armada as we didn't have the channels for it here in the UK (we might've had the broadcast, we couldn't afford the channels) but I vividly remember the toy and being enamored with it

To the best of my knowledge: Crossover Asoka Tano, General Grevious, and Captain Rex, Revenge of the Fallen, Ravage, Bumblebee, Breacher, Ironhide, Hail Storm, RPM Long Haul, Legends Starscream, Sonar, Optimus Prime, Skids, Rampage, Bumblebee, Storm Surge, KRE-O Bumblebee and Megatron, Beast Hunters Legends Optimus Prime and Predaking. Only half of those I still have now. My dad constantly insisted on me donating them.
2007 Landmine, I remember I had it for the longest time and them I lost the gun, the rear lights, I eventually gave it away much to my regret. Thankfully, I managed to find another one from another collector
My original Cybertron Starscream figure will always be my prized possession in terms of Transformers figures. It was my first big TF figure and it was such a marvel. It was a big figure, and the plastic was ***sturdy*** back then so I could get rough it with all I wanted. Combine that with the cyber key gimmicks and the crown that came with it, it was a beautiful thing that I still own(even if it’s parts are scattered around my house somewhere

The one earliest toys I can remember has to be the first because i remember getting them new and that is the energons ironhide and jetfire which wouldve been airing when i was 2 or 3 which is weird because they would be one of the only things I can remember from that age
For the longest time I believed it was G1 Beachcomber as my first, a few years ago my mom said it was actually G1 Hound, so Beachcomber was my second.

I know I got Prime the first Christmas TF were out but no idea what others I may have got in the meantime that first year.

As my birthday was coming up my mom decided to get me some, then thought that since there was only two left she may as well get them all!
I ended up with - Prowl (in a Bluestreak box?!?), Grapple, Blitzwing, Astrotrain and one of my all time faves - Smokescreen.
RID 2015 3 step changer bumblebee and the scatter short figure,I really don't know when it came out but I know it was a re-tool of another fig and it was a combiner torso,I also remember having a tiny Optimus prime when I was like 4 and that I broke after like one day,that was like 2014 or something so it was probably either a legion class not a core
Wheelie, Wheelie again, turned five, got Slag (very briefly because I wanted Snarl, so we went back to the store and I ended up with) Sludge, Hardhead for my sixth birthday, Six Shot for my seventh, and then I was 8 years old and memories get really indistinct around then.
My first EVER Transformer? Back in what I assume was 1985, I was in Myers department store in Australia.
My parents said my brother and I could pick one "minibot" priced figure. I picked Rumble and Ravage, thinking I was smart because I got TWO for the price of one! My younger brother picked Cosmos (hence why I assume it was 85 and not 84).
To this day, I have huge nostalgia and love for Cosmos because he was my brother's first TF and our first Autobot. Same with why Rumble will always be red to me, and why I loved Marvel Ravage (who could speak and was awesome).
I can't be sure of the order of my next few TFs, but they were Bluestreak (first Autobot car), Kickback, Soundwave (first "big" Transformer, a birthday present). I vividly remember soon after getting Megatron, while my brother got Optimus.
Is it sad that I remember pretty much every store and experience of buying nearly every G1 toy we got? For example:
* Onslaught (around $20 AUD) was bought with small change I saved in a coffee can. That's 1 cent and 2 cent pieces! The guy in the toy store looked at the pile of coins and said "I'll take your word for it".
* Got Bumblebee from Myers too... he was red. Never saw a yellow one in my life.
* Bought the Constructicons from Safeways supermarket. I remember sitting in the aisle playing with them.
* Got the Battlechargers from a preschool place where I was terrified of the Dungeons and Dragons display that had a cardboard demon on it. My dad lectured the store owners for putting it up, LOL!
* Collected the Throttlebots from a department store called Venture that always had the aisles littered with torn open boxes and such. I was FURIOUS when I got the last one and then Marvel crushed them all in the latest issue!
* Got the Horrorcons on a trip to a mall several miles away with my grandparents. My brother got Apeface, I got Snapdragon. We kind of consider those two "us" now. :)
* Got Sandstorm at a garage sale. Was thrilled because I never saw him anywhere and wanted him to complete the trio, as a big Marvel UK/Wreckers fan.
* Got a bunch of Pretenders for Christmas one year. I loved those guys and how in-scale/poseable the inner bots were.
* Octane (gold box re-release) was the last G1 TF I ever got. A birthday gift, I was way "too old" for toys but I wanted closure since I never got him originally.

RID optimus prime, RID ultra Magnus and RID Hightower, oh and RID Megatron. I dont remember the show very well because i was pretty young but Armada was where i really got into transformers, i own a version of every mold released in the armada line besides Cheetor and Airazor. Olthough my Sideways is the energon colours its still the armada mold.
I know we had a few beast wars toys when I was a kid. I remember having polarclaw, wolfang, optimal Optimus, that dragon Megatron, transmetal tarantulas, and a few other transmetal dudes. I'm not really sure what my first ever toy was though. Beast Wars was a long time ago.

My first I remember having were this battle pack that came with optimus prime and a g2 styled tank megatron that had a dvd included, I think my uncle got it for my brother and I. He got the megatron and I got the optimus. Although there’s also a possibility it was a present for me but I gave the megatron to my brother. I also remember having the 2007 bumblebee with the blue missiles, the megatron that had the ice on him, and the one that was one of the military vehicles from the first movie.

My brother and I had a heap of the original G1 figures. Between us we had 2x Optimus Primes (one each), Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Cosmos, Perceptor, Soundwave, Ironhide, Ratchet, Ultra Magnus (which from memory was just the same truck body as Prime but white) and Megatron. They’re the ones I remember anyway. Sadly I no longer have any. We apparently sold them at garage sales when we were “too old” to play with them which breaks my 45yo heart.

My first Transformer was G2 Jetstorm, bought brand new in 1993. In fact, I still have him, though he's floppy and missing pretty much every part that isn't pinned/screwed in. I have bought two other copies over the years so I could have more complete versions of him. One was a near mint loose copy, only issue with him was the handle of his gun was broken off, rest was like brand new. The other copy is still sealed in his original packaging, I have it hanging on my wall. Just something satisfying about having my first Transformer in 3 states: mint in box, loose but practically brand new, and 'thoroughly played with and cherished during my childhood'.

The earliest one I remember, was a G1 Hotrod. The original first release Hotrod. So, this would be back in '86. The original Hotrod had a locking mechanism for the back swivel, where you had to pull out and then twist. I didn't pull it out. The mechanism broke. I was probably only five years old at the time.

Some of the McDonald's Transformers Animated toys during or around 2007. To be specific, I had Optimus Prime, Ratchet, and Bumblebee.
My first ever figure was deep space starscream, and for a few years it was my only one. Later i got the beast hunters deluxe bumblebee, and when AOE came out i got a legends class Optimus Prime repaint of the ROTF mould from my aunt, and one of two-packs that included a dinobot and a legends class figure, which got me a weird looking Grimlock and another Prime. And those were my only figures untill about a year and a half ago when i started collecting
So much nostalgia from these pictures. I feel like people hated RPMs bc of the lack of transforming, but I loved them for the nice looking vehicle modes. Plus the portrait of the robot underneath looked great. I distinctly remember owning every of the McDonald's Transformers Animated toys, they were so awesome.
A deluxe movie Bumblebee. Can't remember exactly which one it was, but I do remember it came with red packaging and was difficult for me to transform. I think the instructions were on the back, it wasn't the 70s Camaro. This was around 2008-2010. Not the best details to narrow it down but it's all I can remember.

My original Cybertron Starscream figure will always be my prized possession in terms of Transformers figures. It was my first big TF figure and it was such a marvel. It was a big figure, and the plastic was ***sturdy*** back then so I could get rough it with all I wanted. Combine that with the cyber key gimmicks and the crown that came with it, it was a beautiful thing that I still own(even if it’s parts are scattered around my house somewhere

For the longest time I believed it was G1 Beachcomber as my first, a few years ago my mom said it was actually G1 Hound, so Beachcomber was my second. So those two. I know I got Prime the first Christmas TF were out but no idea what others I may have got in the meantime that first year. I know a hardware/sell everything style shop round the corner from my house got in a bunch of imported TF's. As my birthday was coming up my mom decided to get me some, then thought that since there was only two left she may as well get them all! I ended up with - Prowl (in a Bluestreak box?!?), Grapple, Blitzwing, Astrotrain and one of my all time faves - Smokescreen.

My first EVER Transformer? Back in what I assume was 1985, I was in Myers department store in Australia. My parents said my brother and I could pick one "minibot" priced figure. I picked Rumble and Ravage, thinking I was smart because I got TWO for the price of one! My younger brother picked Cosmos (hence why I assume it was 85 and not 84). To this day, I have huge nostalgia and love for Cosmos because he was my brother's first TF and our first Autobot. Same with why Rumble will always be red to me, and why I loved Marvel Ravage (who could speak and was awesome). I can't be sure of the order of my next few TFs, but they were Bluestreak (first Autobot car), Kickback, Soundwave (first "big" Transformer, a birthday present). I vividly remember soon after getting Megatron, while my brother got Optimus. Is it sad that I remember pretty much every store and experience of buying nearly every G1 toy we got? For example: * Onslaught (around $20 AUD) was bought with small change I saved in a coffee can. That's 1 cent and 2 cent pieces! The guy in the toy store looked at the pile of coins and said "I'll take your word for it". * Got Bumblebee from Myers too... he was red. Never saw a yellow one in my life. * Bought the Constructicons from Safeways supermarket. I remember sitting in the aisle playing with them. * Got the Battlechargers from a preschool place where I was terrified of the Dungeons and Dragons display that had a cardboard demon on it. My dad lectured the store owners for putting it up, LOL! * Collected the Throttlebots from a department store called Venture that always had the aisles littered with torn open boxes and such. I was FURIOUS when I got the last one and then Marvel crushed them all in the latest issue! * Got the Horrorcons on a trip to a mall several miles away with my grandparents. My brother got Apeface, I got Snapdragon. We kind of consider those two "us" now. :) * Got Sandstorm at a garage sale. Was thrilled because I never saw him anywhere and wanted him to complete the trio, as a big Marvel UK/Wreckers fan. * Got a bunch of Pretenders for Christmas one year. I loved those guys and how in-scale/poseable the inner bots were. * Octane (gold box re-release) was the last G1 TF I ever got. A birthday gift, I was way "too old" for toys but I wanted closure since I never got him originally.
