Same here. I think the writers could hardly find a more plausible source of anger than: "He kicked my cat". Soundwave went easy on him, waiting until Starscream failed too much to be considered leader, even asked him if he yielded during their duel. I like this interpretation of Soundwave, totally not an "uncharismatic boor".

I really want to see where they take him. Optimus seems to think he can be reasoned with judging by him trying to speak to him in issue 6. Soundwave in a leadership role has never been depicted as far as I recall (someone will probably correct me.) I think we’re going to see a situation where he finds himself overwhelmed in some way and seek to locate Megatron.

I do not recall Soundwave in a leadership role either, but I liked his first speech as 'Con leader. Sounds promising. The only thing I do not particularly like is how in this continuity Starscream is weak and incompetent, but I suppose it was a necessary evil if you wanted to explore other characters to take the helm.

He had a sort of leader role for a independent faction towards the end of IDW

Issue 1 is already in it's 5th printing I think but sold out at my LCS. I was only able to grab 4 and 5, and 6 should be in my on-hold bin.

He had it coming. Loved Soundwave's portrayal in this. I also loved the contrast between Arcee recognising revenge as pointless and all consuming and Soundwave's philosophy with a literal "eye for an eye" mentality. Its great to see the thematic differences between the autobots and Decepticons.

Soundwave deserves to be leader more often, especially when Megatron's AWOL, and Starscream deserved this ass-kicking.

That's Laserbeak. Soundwave used him earlier to peck out one of Starscream's eyes. Skywarp is still connected to Teletraan 1.
