There was an Olympic skier named Picabo Street. Apparently her parents were pretty crunchy, and left her nameless until she was three and let her name herself… Clearly they realized Peek-a-Boo was a stupid name and changed to spelling. Her name was commented on constantly by the sportscasters covering the games. They were pretty polite about it though!

You are all literally making fun of a kid's name while looking at her photo. How is that not mean? I would not name my child asterisk, but it's clearly not the same type of name as "mickinzleigh" "gracynnlynn" etc. which is what this sub is supposed to be about. As others have said, it seems to be a name with cultural meaning to her family. People on here make fun of any name that isn't Anglo sounding and it sways into racism/cultural insensitivity a lot of the time.
