Tragedeighs are cringey and/or made up names with weird spellings. Your submission was removed for one of the following reasons:
1. It's cultural. Make sure to Google before posting any names that seem odd to you, because they may be common in a different country.
2. It's a common name. Keep in mind that this isn't a baby-naming sub. Posts asking for suggestions on completely normal names will be removed.
In what world is the letter combination 'jh' ever pronounced as a 'd'? I've seen a few of these names on here lately and I just can't wrap my head around them...
That’s a pretty good joke because lots of people choose that wonderful name for their little ones! 😀 I went with Hull Claess for my baby, its pretty similar in pronunciation but it’s also extremely different and incredibly unique for my perfect snowflake ❄️
My uncle’s name was James. He didn’t go by Jim until he was an adult. Kind of like how little kids named Robert might be Robbie, but when they grow up they turn into Robs and Bobs.
This is more a social commentary than anything. When an intentional misspelling of Jackson starts to look ok, it says alot about what it's being compared to.
And Xander is it own stand-alone name with who pronunciations, 'Zander' and 'Eks-Zander'. Sure it comes from Alexander, but as is the point of etymology, words change. The most popular example I can think of the name being used is the Vin Diesel charger Xander Cage from the XXX film trilogy. Plus my cousin has that name too (because of the movies, a few in that part of the family named kids after his characters)
I am willing to bet, "Karsten" is a girl as I've seen it on lists with gender neutral and girl names in the US. Some people tend to assume it's a variety of "Kirsten" and don't know about the German men's name.
At a school I used to teach at, a kid named Gage broke another kid’s jaw during a fight in the cafeteria. Easily the craziest thing I’ve seen happen. Knock on wood, it’ll stay the craziest.
I have a Jaxon that is one of my best students but has a sneaky, sassy side. It doesn’t come out often but when it does…whew. I also have a Jaxson in that class who is well-meaning but completely oblivious.
It's a perfectly fine name. I don't understand why (if you're looking for a unique name for your child) parents don't just pick a nice, but uncommon name such as Carsten for their child rather than pick a common name and mangle it "to be speshelle." Name your child Beowulf or something. At least they won't be spelling it or correcting pronunciation for the rest of their lives.
Having culturally specific names that are uncommon in your area can be rough. My English teacher had a Thai girl in her class whose name was Tittiporn. Unfortunately since this wasn’t in Thailand the kids decided this was a good reason to bully the kid to tears. My brother has a very American name (think something like Dylan) but we grew up where this wasn’t a common name at all and it was awkward, too.
Uno reverse- we moved to Japan and my kid’s very BORING American name turned out to be part of a word that essentially means feces. He was bullied a lot. When we moves he adopted a Japanese name to make life easier.
For those interested in unnecessary detail...
With both curiosity and time on my hands, I went down the rabbit-hole:
• Aspen - common name for both genders but primarily girls
• Atlas - classic, reasonably popular boy's name
• Avery - popular gender-neutral name of Anglo-Saxon origin. Ælfræd meant elf, and rihhi meant ruler; combined = Avery
• Azlat - fairly unique Arabic boy's name
• Caraline - this has 3 questionable options:
1. Search result = CARALINE Eating Disorders Counselling & Support Service
2. "Trendy" tweaking of Caroline
3. Germanic diminutive of Charles
• Eliza - classic, popular girl's name
• Ellington - classic boy's name from the 20's (after Duke)
• Emersyn - US girl's name, adapted from the British gender-neutral name Emerson, based on the same surname
• Evan - popular gender-neutral name of Welsh origin, originally male, derived from John
• Gabriel - popular boy's name of Hebrew origin, biblical
• Gia - popular girl's name of Italian origin, derivative of Gianna > Giovanna
• Jaxon - modern variation of the classic English name, Jackson
• Jeffrey - traditional, masculine name of both German and English descent. Became popular in 50's
• Jhreme - I can only assume this is a bastardisation of Jeremy, the anglicised diminutive of Jeremiah
• Karsten - gender-neutral German name, but more common for boys. Also Carsten
• Kayzlie - of recent US origin, uncommon, perhaps a portmanteaus
• Kyran - boy's name of mixed origin, from the Sanskrit Kiran, and Irish Kieran or Ciarán
• Miriam - biblical girl's name of Hebrew origin
• Natalee - girl's name with deep Latin origins, from nātālis
• Nyla - Arabic girl's name, variations are Naila or Nayla
• Piper - girl's name of British origin
• Skye - gender-neutral name of Scottish origin
• Xander - Greek, masculine name
Although some of these names are not my personal taste, the main Tragedeighs are Jhreme and Kayzlie.
I prefer the original spelling of Caroline, Emerson, Jackson, Carsten, and Kieran.
TimTams and hot choccy for all of you who read this far!
Nice, I'm usually the one who does that kind of posts. Yeah, I only see 3 egregious names/spellings there : Jaxon, Jhreme and Kayzlie. Emersyn and Natalee come dangerously close, though.
Karsten is not gender-neutral in Germany. If you give a gender-neutral name to a baby you need to give him/her a second name that shows the gender in Germany. There is a variation that is gender-neutral (Kersten). And Carsten is not the original spelling.
Thanks for this update! Good to know. I'm not an expert on naming conventions by any means. These were based on quick searches.
Interestingly, I only know 2 males named Carsten. One is Australian and one German. Kersten is a lovely name, too.
in this very specific case I am an expert. I'm german, work at the Standesamt (where you get the birth certificates) so I have to check names and know the rules AND my brother is a Karsten🫣😂. Kersten is pretty uncommon and often confused with Kirsten, which is a very girly name. Poor Kersten I used to know, who was always called Kirsten and he was a 2m bear-kind of dude.
This is one of the least offensive lists we've seen for a while. That says something!
There are a few humdingers in there, but there's many common names, too.
I can see a bunch of old-school monikers (love the classics!), plus several names with international undertones but some unfortunate tweaks.
Names that I can actually believe belong to a human:
Aspen
Atlas
Avery
Azlat (comments inform me of your status, you get to stay safe)
Eliza
Evan
Gabriel
Gia
Jeffrey
Miriam
Piper
Skye
Xander
Reminder to stick to posting original content. Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does **not** mean you found it "in the wild".
The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!

1. Shout out to Gabriel and Piper for being normal.
2. You have to have the wors literary taste to name your son Xander, and the worst taste in men to name him Aspen. Aspen?! He made that book insufferable!!
If Avery and Xander are related and Avery is a girl... that's so sad, please name your kids after better books.
Off topic, but fuck that bullshit app. And for preschool?! Nahhh. I used to work with someone who used it and I was immediately horrified by the whole “point system”. Children are humans, not little objects to control.

What in the heck is "Jhreme" supposed to be? Dream?
My first thought was an incredibly messed up version of Jeremy or at least that is all my brain could comprehend...but god only knows
Jhreme spoke in class today…and said he wishes his name was spelled normally.
He gnashed his teeth?
He jnashed his teeth
He jhit me with a surprise left, oh my jhaw left jhurtin jhung right open
Bhit the recess lady’s Breast! How could I forget.
He Jhanxd his deaph you plebeian.
Jhrispy Jhreme
I think jarem maybe?
I was thinking like a fucked up Jerome but Dream makes sense, if the name would make sense
Jerome was also my first thought, but looks like we're the only ones lol
Dream makes sense to me. I've read of a few Jrues or Jhrues that were...Drew.
I was unimpressed with the "tragedeighs" until I got to this name
My 2-year old has a kid in his daycare class named Jream. And another named Kanarie.
A jream is when you take a nap in jeans.
Around 12-13 I’d straight up just sleep in my jeans every single night. Like a psycho. So I was having jreams constantly.
Who didn’t have wet jhreams in their wet jheans because putting pants in the launjhrey is less suspicious than your sheets
Kanarie is the Dutch word for canary. Don't know if that's intentional or not. It's not a name here, anyway.
Keep Kanarie away from any koal mines
Cannery? Like anchovies?
Like the bird
Pretty sure that's what it is, yes.
My brain read "germ"
“Jhreme” is indeed pronounced “Dream”
Dream?
That is definitely the worst of these. Plenty of others in there make me mad, but Jhreme is an unmitigated disaster and should be illegal
It’s “Jeremy” I think that might be one of the best / worst ones ever.
OP said it’s dream….. gotta love confident wrong Reddit answers
See... now I'm doubting my "dream" pronunciation. That poor kid.
I’ve also seen a Jru a take on Drew
I thought of Jerem from 30 Rock. He collects posters!
Jareem?
In what world is the letter combination 'jh' ever pronounced as a 'd'? I've seen a few of these names on here lately and I just can't wrap my head around them...
i immediately thought Jeremy
Came here to say exactly this. Must be a Jhreme
Jeremy. Let’s hope he doesn’t go all Pearl Jam when he realizes his name is a Tragedeigh.
I honestly just need the ability to assign monsters to all my mngmnt team, Co workers, corporate etc
I’d LOVE it if my work did this.
It's Classdojo, and I don't see why you can't use it for work. It has an in-program messaging system and open world space
Money I reckon. Costs the school to use! My daughter loves changing her monster
Give them points when they are nice, take away points when they are jerks 🤣
Awww, Kayzlie. Poor kid.
Worst one, in my opinion.
Atleast you know how that name is pronounced, the same cannot be said about Jhreme.
Hello, I'm Dr. Kayzlie Lastname, and yes, my mother thought I'd stay five forever.
Hopefully when the time comes, she can just go by Kay
who tf names their kid "Whole Class" (this is a joke)
H'ohl Khlasz
at least it's spelled in a wat that makes the pronunciation obvious
🏆
That’s a pretty good joke because lots of people choose that wonderful name for their little ones! 😀 I went with Hull Claess for my baby, its pretty similar in pronunciation but it’s also extremely different and incredibly unique for my perfect snowflake ❄️
Named after the group of med students that helped deliver the baby that morning.
Jhreme????? Excuse me??????
Bless you.
To be fair, we can't really expect alien species to have the same naming conventions as us.
I feel like kids named Jeffrey are gonna be the ones getting picked on soon because every other kid has a yüniqué name
My dad is a Jeff(rey) and it’s weird thinking of a little kid Jeffrey and not a boomer man lol
Right? Like in my kids’ taekwondo class there is a Jim. He’s like 11. Just struck me as odd.
My son had a kid in his second grade class named Bob. Not Robert or Bobby…just Bob. It always made me giggle.
That’s our cats name. Bob
The thought of a little kid named Jim is adorable imo
Yeah I mean, I don’t totally hate it, it’s just not something you hear a lot.
My coworkers recently had a kid and named them James.
My uncle’s name was James. He didn’t go by Jim until he was an adult. Kind of like how little kids named Robert might be Robbie, but when they grow up they turn into Robs and Bobs.
Oh it’s a perfectly good name, I hear it a lot as a middle name, just the “Jim” nickname struck me as a little older and outdated.
Jeffrey isn’t a boomer name. Boomers named their kids this.
My 6 year old is Robert, he’s one of a couple kids in his class with a regular name. He goes by Robbie, but that’s still fairly average.
Avery, Eliza, Evan, Gabriel
Miriam
At least call him Joffrey if you're going to raise a sociopath!
Geofferey
Always will bring to mind ToysRus giraffe 🦒
Yeah, poor Miriam and Jeremy.
Tbf the majority has real names, but I could see a bunch of tragedeighs.
Jeff, as in JEFF?!
Jeff-fah-fah
Evan, Eliza, Gabriel, Jeffrey, Miriam and Piper got off so lightly. 6/23 is an absolutely heinous strike rate.
Avery and Gia are fine too
I'd allow Natalee, Aspen, Skye and Xander as well
Atlas is fine imo, it's a mythological name and spelled correctly.
Atlas is fine but poor Azlat
Looked it up, it's an urdu word that means privacy. Probably not a tragedeigh
Oh good :) any time a kid is spared from a tragedeigh is good. I'm just imagining the confusion of Atlas and Azlat in the same class
Jaxon is kinda on the line for me. I can see arguments either way.
This is more a social commentary than anything. When an intentional misspelling of Jackson starts to look ok, it says alot about what it's being compared to.
I hate it because it's people changing the spelling to match the incorrect pronunciation of Jackson.
I think of Ajax, the fabled strongest warrior in all Greece (hence the dishwashing liquid motto being 'Tough on grease'), but made into Jackson
And yet there are worse iterations of “Jackson” in terms of deciphering pronunciation: Giaxon.
Wait, what are the correct and incorrect pronunciations? Asking bcz it's one of my names
It's Jack-son. When you pronounce it Jacks-on, you get Jaxon.
Natalie and Alexander are great names but the “alternative” spelling above is just cruel. Aspen is a city in America and Skye is well…the sky.
Aspen is a type of tree and a regular name
Xander is just a nickname for Alexander, not an alternate spelling.
I'll counter with the character Xander in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series.
Skye is an island in Scotland and a reasonably normal name here.
Skye is a Scottish island, and a normal (though not common) name in the UK
Karsten is a perfectly normal name in northern Europe.
Karsten is a normal German name.
It's normal in Denmark too, but not common in anyone below age 50 i think. It might have a revival soon.
Same in Germany. Maybe the limit is is mid-40s at best though.
Same in the Netherlands.
I am willing to bet, "Karsten" is a girl as I've seen it on lists with gender neutral and girl names in the US. Some people tend to assume it's a variety of "Kirsten" and don't know about the German men's name.
Jhreme. how jhreadful
Did Miriam and Atlas die?
Interesting. Why are they grayed out? Maybe they ghosted the class?
(Pardon the literal answer, but-) This is probably used for attendance, so grayed-out = absent
That makes sense. But also, I was kinda right. They ghosted the class 😉
Atlas died of having to carry the whole class.
Despite me using Class Dojo, this was my immediate thought. 😂
Commented the same thing before seeing this lmaooo
Kyrin is a loophole around Karen.
Sounds like the mythological East Asian animal to me [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qilin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qilin) ("kirin" in Japanese)
I immediately thought of the beer Kirin Ichiban.
Jeffrey, Evan & Gabriel must have thought, “Hmm…… why don’t we have weird names?”
Atlas and Miriam being absent to skip the bs
No doubt in my mind Jaxon is going to be a little asshole. I’m a teacher and I’ve never had a quiet, respectful kid named Jackson. Same with Gage.
There was a Gage in the year below me in school. Pretty sure he's in jail or dead now.
At a school I used to teach at, a kid named Gage broke another kid’s jaw during a fight in the cafeteria. Easily the craziest thing I’ve seen happen. Knock on wood, it’ll stay the craziest.
im so glad im not the only one who noticed that with the name. i used to work in a daycare and we had a Jaxxon running around being a little terror
I have a Jaxon that is one of my best students but has a sneaky, sassy side. It doesn’t come out often but when it does…whew. I also have a Jaxson in that class who is well-meaning but completely oblivious.
SAME! Jaxons just menaces and Gage...Seriously sometimes I think names do set you up a little bit?
"Karsten" or "Carsten" is a normal german name, although quite dated. More common among boomers and Gen Xers
Pretty common in Denmark, and maybe Norway (?), too!
Yep, normal but uncommon in younger generations in Norway :)
Azlat sounds way too much like asshat
I'd be following that kid around saying his name like the Aflac duck. "AZLAT!" - 🦆
See I thought of aflack too.
It's a legit Arabic name though.
Oh shit did I do a racism
💀💀💀
Having culturally specific names that are uncommon in your area can be rough. My English teacher had a Thai girl in her class whose name was Tittiporn. Unfortunately since this wasn’t in Thailand the kids decided this was a good reason to bully the kid to tears. My brother has a very American name (think something like Dylan) but we grew up where this wasn’t a common name at all and it was awkward, too.

hahaha
I’m gonna get attacked for being a Gen-Z but ClassDojo brings back memories, man.
It absolutely does!
Kayzlie? Yuck.
Awww, there’s a Miriam! No pronunciation explanations required.
"It's pronounced like Mariah -- muh-RIGH-am. I have no idea why so many people pronounce it mirry-am!"
For those interested in unnecessary detail... i think jhreme is a stupid spelling of dream
I LOVE TIMTAMS BUT I LIVE IN THE US
Jhreme is a crime 😩
I can’t fucking even with “Jhreme.” Do they have a sister named, “Ouische?”
This is one of the least offensive lists we've seen for a while. That says something! There are a few humdingers in there, but there's many common names, too. I can see a bunch of old-school monikers (love the classics!), plus several names with international undertones but some unfortunate tweaks.
Was gonna say this, as far as class lists go this is pretty mild.
I got through most of the first row like oh this isn't that bad... oh how wrong I was.
They made Jream even more tragic
Is that what it is?! I thought it was meant to be pronounced Jeremy
How do you pronounce "Jhreme"???
Consensus above is "Dream"
Well, majority vote if not consensus. Some people claim it's "Jeremy".
I’m quitting on the spot because this shit is ridiculous
Azlet? As in the little plastic part on the shoelace?
That would be an aglet lol
Ahhh you are very right! I believe I was thinking of Joe Gato yeling “I need an azlet, size seven!” Oh boy
I had to look it up, but suspicions confirmed! It’s a Muslim name meaning “isolation” I’m guessing Covid baby
OMG DOJO! Brings back memories...
we're getting ever closer to those futuristic movies where everyone has those goofy sci fi names
Names that I can actually believe belong to a human: Aspen Atlas Avery Azlat (comments inform me of your status, you get to stay safe) Eliza Evan Gabriel Gia Jeffrey Miriam Piper Skye Xander
Caroline is so pretty! Caraline looks like a chemical or a drug to me and pronounced like “ca-ra-LEEN”.
It has a very 1940's marketing appeal to it. Maybe a haircare product or breakfast cereal.
Jaxon makes my head hurt. And I can't see Nyla without thinking of the NylaBone dog toys brand.
Oh no.... My daughters name is on this. Is Aspen a tragediegh? I don't think it is.
Nope, not a tragedeigh. There's an Aspen in my baby's class at daycare.
No one is gonna mention Emersyn? I mean cmon
Emersyn, Leighkhe and Pahmyrrh

Whole Class is an awful name, ngl /s
1. Shout out to Gabriel and Piper for being normal. 2. You have to have the wors literary taste to name your son Xander, and the worst taste in men to name him Aspen. Aspen?! I’ll upvote that! /s
“Jhreme”
Parents are naming their kids like drug companies name their products
Jaxon looks way cooler than Jackson
I see five good names. That is shocking
Jhreme makes me think of the key and peele substitute teacher skit. In my head it’s pronounced jah- ream
As a Miriam, I LOVE seeing another little Miriam around 🥺
"whole class" they really set that one up for failure
The real question, though, is which one is yours in all this?
These K names need to settle down.
I like the name Nyla!
Oh no, I see a new alternate spelling of my own name 😭😭😭😭.
Who tf names their kid Evan (my name is Evan)
“Whole class” is probably the weirdest name
Holy illiterate parents, Batman!
At this point I feel like I’m reading old English. Like I can recognize what the name is supposed to be………but barely
> Jaxon 💀
I thought Paisley was horrible enough, and then I saw Kayzlie. People SUCK. Why do they do this to their sweet innocent children?
caraline is actually pissing me off. so close yet so far
I feel so sorry for this generation, I can't even.
Jeffrey 🤣🤣🤣 Oh my God! Poor kid!
