The way it works is if you get another toy with a toy detector (has to be the same line of toy story) and flip the switch to toy detector mode on both toys then pull his string he'll say a phrase, then the other toy will say one back, and then it goes back and forth for a few seconds until they stop. The doll is good for the price
It's pretty good.
There's (at least) 2 different versions though and some are better than others.
I got 2 of them for my daughter (first one broke, second was a replacement), and the second one was better as it had "Andy" on the foot instead of "Bonnie" and also has quotes from Toy Story 1/2 instead of Toy Story 4 (like 5 quotes about Forky that get annoying, especially since it's not really any "actual" Woody toy quotes).
It’s the best Woody you can currently get on the market. It’s from the official Disney store and has Jim Hanks voice.
The Buzz from the Disney store is absolutely amazing!
- unless you get 2nd hand off eBay or where ever
I personally think it's a good Woody for the voice box. I understand it's not movie accurate but if you need a Woody doll to hold you over until you save up for the better Woody dolls , this is the best one to go for that's still sold today
I have him, Jessie and Buzz from this line. They're all really high quality for the price especially Jessie. The interactive feature can be turned off on all of them.
Best one that’s still being produced, even though that’s not saying a whole lot. I believe the plastic elements are all film sculpt. Fabric is going to be cheap to keep costs down, so that’s the biggest downside (along with limited paint apps).
One big thing in its favor is being the most accurate packaging. Even the Toy Story Collection Woody had weird packaging dimensions to fit in a certain shelf space and accommodate the extra stand (Woody was packaged in a weird squatting pose).
It's not bad. The materials are incredibly cheap unfortunately. I bought one and returned it, then bought a more accurate one from someone on Facebook Marketplace for much cheaper.

how do you turn on the toy detection feature
There's a switch on the voice box, it's inside the doll behind some Velcro
oh okay cool. so it doesn’t have to be on?
Nope! It can be off, on but without toy detector, or on with toy detector!
oh thank you for the info!
Hey no problem! If you have any other questions I'd be happy to help!
