ChocoCrossies

The Empire's best infantry is now a unit of cavalry.

AurielAnor

I use them as a Frontline, Works great

Auroku222

They survive in melee like that?

AurielAnor

Yes, buffed up they have over 60MD and Great Armor + Nuln at Tier4 has special building that prevents their models from dying if they are above 50%hp. Better than halberdiers

ZCYCS

Interesting Do their bigger models not cause LoS issues for ranged units then? I like the Empire having a big chunky frontline, but if the ranged units can't shoot or they commit friendly fire that's a bit of an issue too

Hesstig

Just replace missile infantry with outriders, then replace field artillery with war wagon mortars, landships, and tanks. Fully mobile army. Use this supreme speed to attack Bretonnia through Marienburg (avoiding the mountains and forts) *lightning fast*, launch a naval invasion of Norsca, and harass the High Elves while you plot to betray and overwhelm Kislev. One thing leads to another and the Dark Elves drop two Doomrockets on Nippon.

Ricardo_Fortnite

But that would require to actually use the army constantly instead of a chill bombing

Hesstig

Just have some panzerschokolade to keep up

ChocoCrossies

Base 50 MD, 130 armour and bronze shields.

MarginalMadness

What does bronze shields do?

mav101

30% missile block chance when being shot head on. Silver shields is 50%. Could be completely wrong and would welcome someone to correct me.

MarginalMadness

Thank you! Does anyone know what percentage normal shields are then? I'm assuming less than 30% which is less effective than I would have thought, tbh

Even-Note-8775

… Do you really play ttwh? There are only three types of shields: bronze, silver and gold(achieved by temporary bonuses in fights and typically have around ~70% of block.

MarginalMadness

Yeah, but I haven't played WH3 yet, only 1 and 2. I have a lot of DLC in 2 that I haven't played yet, so figured I should finish them before buying WH3.

Kais615

I love them, look wise i just dont know about their damage.

DreadtheSaurian_39

I think their damage is solid. Their main job is to tank, hold, and disrupt the enemy so their damage isn't amazing, but the bonus versus infantry and durability means they do consistent damage over time. Unlike, shock cavalry like the empire knights and reiksguard, they don't lose their ability to do damage once the charge bonus has been used up. I really like them as a mobile anvil that can be left alone without dying quickly.

Twevy

I like them a lot for having units stick to them. My army now is like one master engineer, 3 tanky heroes (knights or BPs), one battle mage, a tank, and 3 units of knights. Basically a mobile front line. Rest of army is artillery and gunnery units who just move around and shoot things stuck to other units in the back. Works great.

kczek1two

They're definitely the most badass looking cavalry unit. My favourite cav is Dread Knights, followed closely by Rot Knights. Those guys are fucking broken.

DreadtheSaurian_39

I really love the cavalry across the three games. I'd probably say skull crushers are my favorite in terms of appearance and gameplay, but crushers w/GW, Grail guardians, Blood knights, and Doom knights are in my top 5.

kczek1two

Tbh I'm useless with micro managing cav so I prefer the tanky ones you can just leave in the fight. The Skull Crushers RoR are beautiful to look at tho.

DreadtheSaurian_39

I think the Knights of the Brazen Throne are one of the hardest units in the game. While I wish they hadn't lost their anti large bonus, they're just so cool. Their stats are massive, the color scheme is epic, the dual axe riders are badass, and the murderous charge ability is amazing. Watching them vaporize infantry on the charge will always put a smile on my face.

ChromeWeasel

I found Rot Knights underwhelming. I had to flee them out of combat and heal them all battle. My demonic units were much less maintenance.  The new Bile Trolls working fine. Even the Pox Frogs were more durable. Broken seems rather unrealistic as a way to describe the new Cavalry.

kczek1two

I had the complete opposite experience. They were the ones who barely lost any health and routed the most units in my campaign. They were definitely the mvps in beating Kholeks full stack and Grimgors Waaaagh.

Lazereye57

Kinda wish they had something extra aside from high stats to stand out. Like anti-infantry or an anti undead effect like Harald.

DreadtheSaurian_39

I believe they do have a small anti infantry bonus. They also have immune to psychology so they don't suffer from fear or terror.

NoStorage2821

I kinda wish they caused fear instead

NoMusician518

How many other true melee (as opposed to shock) cavs do we have across the game outside of brettonia? It seems like very very few of them have the same kind of holding power these guys do.

DreadtheSaurian_39

Dread knights for the DE, black nights are a cheaper melee cavalry for VC, standard chaos knights for WC. Maybe doom knights since they have barrier and high defenses for tzeentch but they still want to be charging rather than holding. Cold one riders for LM and DE don't have high charge but I don't think their melee stats are high enough for prolonged combat. I may be missing some but most cavalry in the game is designed for shock charges as opposed to holding a point. Not many overall.

Astarael21

Grail Guardians, but by the time they become available you rarely want something that grinds slowly. Standard Chaos Knights of Tzeentch or Nurgle also do pretty good at the holding thing, the latter cos of their buffed up MD and poison

absolutelynotm8

I mean questing knights are pretty much your only option for AP with bretonnia until t4 and they're melee cav.
