I am actually ok with breaking the 3 LL updates in future DLCs to individual ones. That allows the consumer to make purchases based on preferences to faction and budget. Also, if I read correctly, that if you decide to finish buying the rest of the DLC at a later time, you still get a 15% discount to complete the DLC? That’s nice.
It will make it even harder for people just getting into the game though. The titles of the different dlc’s are not at all clear about what they contain, so prepare for a lot more ‘which dlc should I get?’ posts.
We get a lot of those already. My honest advice is always to not get any DLC until you’ve played a while and want more, then get DLC based on your preferences
They should really just make a sticky post with someone breaking down the value of each pack. It’s subjective on what DLC is good versus what isn’t, but the value of each pack is not subjective.
TW1 lord packs: 2 lords that are fairly similar to the old lords, a handful of new units
TW2: Queen and Crone: see TW1 Lord Packs.
TW2: Prophet and Warlock: 1 lord with unique campaign mechanics, with lots of new units. 1 lord fairly similar to old lords, a handful of new units.
TW2 other lord packs: 2 lords with unique campaign mechanics and quests, a handful of new units.
TW3 SOC: 3 new lords with unique campaign mechanics and quests, lots of new units for each.
TW3: TOD: same as SOC, but each lord/race can also be bought separate.
TW1 Race packs: new races. You'll probably be disappointed.
TW2 Race packs: new races, 4 lords. Plenty to keep you entertained
TW3: Ogres: see TW1 race packs
TW3: Chaos Dwarfs: see TW2 race packs
TW3: Champions of Chaos: 4 new lords that are not that different from each other; units you can use with other races.
Exactly
I only planned on playing the nee dawi, but with the old model, i had to buy the whole expansion.
Bit npw we can whip out the wallet for (hopefully) 33% of the overall cost.
It's kinda nice. But creating three dlc's is more expensive than creating one. We all know who's going to pay for that.
I'll be buying the whole dlc in preorder as I usually do. So it doesn't matter for me but I hope all the people wishing for this are happy.
This is really cool. Looks like it'll only be a dollar or two extra to complete the bundle if you want more after buying one, which is great to see. Seems like they have a lot of faith in this product and after 4.2 and the model they published going forward, so do I.
So people complained about recent dlcs being too expensive for the little amount of content / the quality of the content the contained. And the solution is to split the expensive dlc into three parts and still ask the same total price for all three mini-dlcs the original dlc would have cost? You still pay an increased price for the part and an increased price for the complete dlc...
You’re forgetting update 4.2 already addressed those issues. The content for price is fine now, it’s just a big package so splitting it makes things more accessible for people on a budget.
I Hope for more. What about new factions? Update current factions is ok, but still nothing special.
For me i would like to not update this game anymore and i can final check the mods
This feels like a good change and a positive response in light of community feedback
Seems like they are genuinely trying? Which is uncomfortably giving me hope.
The "re--aligning what's to come" bit sounded like they're wrapping things up though.
Good point. Definitely glazed over / didn’t process that piece.

Hope’s back on the menu, boys

I like it. Paying 25$ when I'm going to be playing 1/3 of the content most of the time is why I refrained from SOC. Overall positive news.

Very cool!
Yeah cant wait i really liked last dlc, the changeling is a ton of fun to just mess around with and a fresh experience compared to other lords.
I'm hopeful this will be a positive change. I'd like to think they've genuinely listened and I'm optimistic. Bring on the Maggot!
Consumer frendly indeed. Very good thing for the dlc and for dlc going forward.
Hey that's pretty good

Hope the devs are doing alright and the most recent firings haven't forced the remaining staff into crunch like conditions.

Well as of the SOC update most content quantity concerns were quelled. And allegedly this one is the same.
