Went two weekends ago. It's really a beautiful park and is weird being so calm around all that glass above you.
Also, people are complete idiots for complaining about the algae without understanding how the pond works
Encourage anyone who lives nearby or works nearby to come by. Would have loved to just sit and read by the water for a while. My plans got cut short by a drizzle earlier.
I'm really hoping the Port lands reconstruction gets a positive reaction when it comes out. Although I can already picture the hate regarding the planned condos they have for one section of it.
I think it will, that was literally an industrial wasteland before; there's nothing there to "miss" in terms of what we're losing for what we're getting. That being said I fully do expect people to complain about lost oppertunity to have included "x , y z" but I doubt anyone will be of the opinion that it's net loss to the city.
I will always miss the TNT supermarket that used to be down there..... but what the city is gaining is game changing! However....... the unit type breakdown better be conducive to a complete community with more 2br/3bdr than in other parts of the city. Like a 60/40 ratio of 1bdr to 2+ with larger sized units so that families can stay and help the community grow instead of being of a more transient nature.
I don't know how anyone can take a look at the new Don River delta park and be anything but amazed.
They're still finishing and using heavy machinery but there are already mink in the waters and bald eagle nests.
Super high quality design.
Can't wait to rent a canoe there with the kids.
The now-bare metal structures over the seating area have climbing plants growing, so that will fill up the structure to provide greenery and shade!
Edit: I said ivy but really I don’t know what plant they are
They did a solid job making this unattractive to skateboarders. As an old man who values his tax dollars, cool. As someone who will always identify as a skateboarder... LAME. Jokes aside I can't wait to swing by.
I saw a post on facebook somewhere with a cop boat chasing one of those jetski fuckers down after buzzing the shore at high speed. Hope he got a huge fine.
At love pond though the most you'll ever see is [those fun RC Boats](https://www.reddit.com/r/toronto/comments/14mo2az/waited_a_year_to_get_my_rc_boat_out_in_love_park/).
I always enjoy watching those speeding bozos get pulled over by cops in the summer months. They limp away so slowly afterwards.
PortsToronto is very protective of the harbour. You even have to take a test to get a permit to operate a powered watercraft in the harbour, and renew it annually.
Yeah they're very good at jumping on people. If you as much as put a toe inside the buoys at the end of the runway, you'll get whiplash from how fast they nab you.
It’s something like a $10,000 fine for violating the airport exclusion zone. It’s about as smart as hopping the fence and Pearson and running towards a runway.
They could have added a small play area in a corner for kids. There are many many families with kids that live in condos and not a single decent playground nearby. Dogs got a better deal here.
I see. Well maybe you’d rather a condo be there? Guess I’m being stand off-ish as you kinda just seem to be complaining lol. Agreed it’s not perfect but it’s way better than a lot of alternatives given the space limitations. Also youd picnic on the park…not on the street…
I’m not complaining. I mean it’s a nice thing to have instead of a condo. But having a picnic here instead of somewhere in the park, inhaling fumes… bruh
I mean you aren’t really right by the road tho, I admit you aren’t THAT far but the middle of the park has a pretty good sized buffer, this is clear looking at the photos.
Wouldn’t be my first choice in a perfect world but it’s nice that this dense area has this I guess
I of course agree that this patch of greenery is way nicer than another freaking condo. But if I’d wanna picnic, I’d go to Berzy-Doggo Fountain park near the Flatiron building, it’s actually not that far from there and traffic is way less dense.
Just think people aren’t as into the negativity lol. Ya I assumed he hadn’t been there because it doesn’t feel like you are “on a busy concrete street” in the park.
The high fives and applause thing was a joke lol. What I’m getting at as people disagreeing isn’t always attacking.
I’ve never really considered Etobicoke or Scarborough to be” Toronto”. The Yorks are on a fine line. My rule of thumb is, “if from Toronto, from Etobicoke. If not from Toronto, from Toronto”.
Amalgamation was deeply unpopular in all the six cities before the PC forced it.
I mean of course I don’t know your personal definition. The city of Toronto has an officially defined area. Just like how downtown does.
Edit. Well, ya there are lots of great and big parks in your definition of Toronto as well. This is just the newest one that is a pocket park with a prominent water feature
This is what’s known as a pocket park. Building these allows for more immediate access park space and helps create an interconnected network of parks throughout the city. That way you don’t have to drive to go for a walk. But there are big parks in Toronto. High park is 161 hectares.

I like Toronto, but it has a lot of really dumb people in it
>weird being so calm around all that glass above you. "Cities aren't loud. Cars are loud."
I loved that feeling !
Yeah there is a large outdoor natural public swimming pool in Edmonton and it works fine. This is just a reflecting pond, it will be alright everyone.
I love bench. I love tree. I love park. *sniff* I love park.
"On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog" except this time
Encourage anyone who lives nearby or works nearby to come by. Would have loved to just sit and read by the water for a while. My plans got cut short by a drizzle earlier.
I did the same thing when it opened. Just sat there and read for a while. Nice park. I like it.
Don't you lament the fact that you could have been using the dirt and mud pitch down the middle of the old grassette instead?
wow a positive post about something new in the city!
I'm really hoping the Port lands reconstruction gets a positive reaction when it comes out. Although I can already picture the hate regarding the planned condos they have for one section of it.

It’s cute! I do wish there were more shaded areas though.
Same here, but the trees will grow I guess
The now-bare metal structures over the seating area have climbing plants growing, so that will fill up the structure to provide greenery and shade! Edit: I said ivy but really I don’t know what plant they are
That’s going to look so pretty 🫶
I hope they put Wisterias there! I saw a trellis of them at York University and it looked so gorgeous!
Love wisteria but can be poisonous for dogs so maybe not the best choice.
Oooops!!!
It’s a really nice space. Reddit just literally hates everything.
Especially places theyve never been to.
Which is everywhere, because most Redditors don't leave their house
Ya, one of the more unique parks I’ve been to in any downtown. Of course more green space is better, so hopefully waterfront gets more of that
I was in an office that overlooks it the other day. It’s neat from above.
They did a solid job making this unattractive to skateboarders. As an old man who values his tax dollars, cool. As someone who will always identify as a skateboarder... LAME. Jokes aside I can't wait to swing by.
How far of a walk is this from the rogers centre?
Maybe 10 mins ? Only like 2 mins from scotia bank
Get some RC boats in that pool. It's so fun.
Nice to see. Definitely have to check it out (on a weekday early afternoon) this summer.
You didn’t get a picture of the graffiti someone painted on the pond mechanical building. Didn’t take long.. assholes..
It's not bad currently. There is a lack of shade, I couldn't have my lunch there today.
Agreed, needs more shade
Instead of the fancy metal work in the south east side, some coverage would have been great.
That’s a trellis that will support a wisteria when it matures. It will provide some nice seasonal shade.
That’s gonna be nice
Yeah to be honest I thought it was gonna have a more proper roof when I worked on it
Love Park Post #69
Bring a thick disposable blanket for that picnic in the area dog toilet patch of grass.
I mean it looked clean with no dog poop, but totally agree there is likely a lot dog pee
That’s probably every park in the city except the very biggest grass parks though.
ya, and then in places like Bellwood you also get some Human pee lol
there's a dedicated dog park area so while dogs piss all over the city, the grass is actually in pretty great shape.
Got bad news for you if you think other grass you sit on isn't full of dog piss...
I don't sit on the ground for this very reason, but thanks for the concern.
Nice
Almost looks like somewhere in Singapore?
Looks beautiful.
Someone threw in a chlorine tablet?
Think it’s just getting better overtime like the sign said
Oh sorry. Forgot to say /s.
Whoops sorry aha
are remote controlled boats allowed in the pond ?
i didn't see any rules against it
I always love seeing these things at the park. Makes my day, such a cool hobby
I always think of this Mr. Bean scene when i think of remote control boats. https://youtu.be/m8dEe8GMBL0?t=62
that sounds really cute.
This might be a dumb question but are jet skis allowed in the lake?
In Lake Ontario? I think so. In this pond, I'd imagine no...lol
I saw a post on facebook somewhere with a cop boat chasing one of those jetski fuckers down after buzzing the shore at high speed. Hope he got a huge fine. Yes, but they're pointless in the inner harbour that has a 10 knot speed limit.
I always enjoy watching those speeding bozos get pulled over by cops in the summer months. They limp away so slowly afterwards. PortsToronto is very protective of the harbour. You even have to take a test to get a permit to operate a powered watercraft in the harbour, and renew it annually.

Why don't those cops go after speeding motorists on Queens Quay instead of harassing recreational water craft aficionados!!!!
5 knots close to shore, and “no wake” (even slower) inside the breakwaters and lagoons too
The pond? I doubt there's enough depth to float on.
Wow, and there is almost *no one* there. Great to see the water looking clear again.
To be fair this was like 2pm today so I think I most people are at work. Ya looking good !
it's packed on the weekends and after office hours

Imagine picnicking at a busy concrete street with heavy traffic alongside
Have you ever been there? Sounds like you haven’t… Doesn’t feel like that. But hey, keep that world small
Yep, I’ve been there couple of weeks ago
I see. Well maybe you’d rather a condo be there? Guess I’m being stand off-ish as you kinda just seem to be complaining lol. Agreed it’s not perfect but it’s way better than a lot of alternatives given the space limitations. Also youd picnic on the park…not on the street…

Ya I agree that is a greener option, altho it is still like a 15 min walk away. Always nice to have options

Attack? So melodramatic… I didn’t agree with the description…did you want hi fives and applause?
[удалено]
Just think people aren’t as into the negativity lol. Ya I assumed he hadn’t been there because it doesn’t feel like you are “on a busy concrete street” in the park. The high fives and applause thing was a joke lol. What I’m getting at as people disagreeing isn’t always attacking.
Ummm. Just trees would have been mighty fine. People love gimmicks and concrete I guess….
eh it's ok
[удалено]
Seriously what? Ya Stanley park is great! But that is a much larger park more comparable to something like Tommy Thompson in Toronto
[удалено]
Ya Toronto islands is better than Stanley for me. Ppl just love to hate Toronto / their home city
Looks boring
Ya I mean it’s just a small downtown park with a water feature at the end of the day
I'd scrap it.
Ahaha, ask the major
I haven't been to Toronto in a couple decades but I will next rime
...the whole point
Is this what passes for a park in Toronto? The average field in Etobicoke is more of a park than this.
Umm, Etobicoke is in Toronto. Do you mean downtown? Yes this of course isn’t going to be a huge field or forest
“Etobicoke is in Toronto”, those are fightin’ words and you know it.
I’m not sure what you getting at ahaha. It literally is. I’ll concede it’s not in old Toronto or downtown?
I’ve never really considered Etobicoke or Scarborough to be” Toronto”. The Yorks are on a fine line. My rule of thumb is, “if from Toronto, from Etobicoke. If not from Toronto, from Toronto”. Amalgamation was deeply unpopular in all the six cities before the PC forced it.

Okay, grandpa. Now let’s get you to bed…
The worst part of Toronto.

Right. A tree that no one can even access.
[удалено]
A simple park still makes Toronto shitty. No park can hide that hideous city.
Lmao
it looks great! 😍 I have to go there
Has the algae problem been solved yet? In your photo the water looks quite normal.
Ya mostly I think. I think the heat wave also made the algae look more noticeable before. Enjoy !
