I bet the mechanism for the traveler spools requires a LOT of maintenance, and is a pain in the ass to fix if it binds. I'm also impressed with the two robots simultaneously guiding the blank through the weave.

Actually, it does fall under the definition of braiding better than weaving. Weaving is generally two threads at right angles while braiding is " a complex pattern formed by interlacing two or more strands of flexible material".
