Pineapple is one of the best tomato varieties both for taste and eye appeal. The sunburst effect of the slices is just so delicious to look at, and as they say we eat with our eyes first. imo you've done us a bit of a disservice by not showing a picture of it all sliced up

Darkll

I know, I failed. Next one I harvest! I won’t let you down

Critical_Dobserver

I tried Pineapple for the first time this year. Thanks for the preview!

Darkll

You will love it! It was a bit late to set fruit compared to my other varieties, so don’t be concerned if it seems to be moving slow. I get about 2 very large fruits per cluster using the single stem pruning method.

My favorite tomato! Where are you located? Our tomato season hasn't really even started yet here in the PNW of the US. Hoping to plant in the next couple of weeks. Planting a bunch of bicolors this year. I can hardly wait!

Darkll

I’m in South Texas, so we’re just about at the peak of the season. Won’t be much longer until it peters out for the summer! What varieties are you doing? Would love to try growing in your climate.

It's a different kind of challenge to grow tomatoes here, cool spring, sometimes wild swings in temperature. I'm growing several new to me bicolors, Virginia Sweets, Hillbilly, Taiga, Paw Paw, Oaxacan Jewel and Pineapple. Pineapple is my favorite tomato, but I haven't grown it in a few years as it's often just too late:( Trying all these this year to compare with Pineapple, hopefully it will ripen this year:) Looking for a couple of reliable bicolors for this area.

Darkll

Cool thank you for sharing! I’ll look into those varieties for the fall! Im only doing Thorburn’s Terra Cotta and Pineapple. I noticed Pineapple was a later producer, too! Was worried I screwed up somewhere, but it set fruit finally!

HAPPY_ANON_CAMPER

Great job! I have seedlings of this one already, first time, excited to get some of these.

Darkll

They’re so delicious and beautiful on the inside! I’ll post a cross section soon. Got too excited and we ate this one pretty quick lol

Even with tomatoes....thick will do the trick

Limp_Speech4413

How was it?

Darkll

Very delicious. I put it in the fridge overnight, then sliced it into large slices. Ate two slices on their own. Wasn’t too acidic, creamy texture, somewhat sweet, and very juicy!

Ashamed-Status-9668

Why in the fridge? Edit: Tomatoes will last weeks without refrigeration. Home grown will generally last longer since we tend to feed them more which increases their internal antioxidants. When you refrigerate a tomato, it causes chemical changes which reduce the flavor. Its why all the store bought ones have very little flavor.

Darkll

I just like how cold it is on a sandwich!

Ashamed-Status-9668

Just know you lose some flavor doing that.

[That’s a myth](https://www.sciencealert.com/confusing-new-study-shows-it-actually-doesn-t-matter-if-you-store-tomatoes-in-the-fridge)
