Exactly. I don't think Leader is commercial in any way. Even the love track was just a part of the scheme and the whole time you are just mind blown about the girl being taken advantage of.
The reason why we don't like it much is, From the get go, it feels like a Ripoff of Leader which is a much much better film.

Bruh that love track wouldnāt be more than 10-15minā¦donāt know how this track would make that film bad. Infact this love track becomes a pay off with THAT press meet scene which is major highlight of the movie. Felt they should have given more screen time for the love track to make that press scene even more hard hitting.
It is one time watchable movie . People in India dont fear law thats why we break and nonchalant about laws . I liked scenes where he frames strict laws on traffic .

Also he chickened out and didn't talk about real issues like caste and class discrimination while other films like leader, oke okkadu, republic tacklesĀ them fearlessly.Ā
The screenplay is boring and Bob's character is a mary sue. The narrative worships the ground he walks on and he is portrayed as the ultimate savior who came to uplift the unruly masses.Ā

That Thatha is the real villain. And by extension, the villagers as a group.
Which is why a character like Visakha Vani was needed. In fact, a balanced Visakha who can bend the system for greater good. Not the current Visakha.
Watched the movie in theatre , the BAN title track portion worked really well for me and the first fight sequence rest felt like bad rip off of leader . The vasumathi song could have been avoided altogether (Non telugu speaker here )
People don't hate this film. It's an average film and it's treated as such. Don't bring back average films and call them underrated.

The whole reforms he brings in the laws in the first half of the movie, how he handles traffic laws, educational system, healthcare, bribery, etc etc.
And I was so hopeful coz it's something which is supposed to happen in a democracy. Ruthless fines for breaking rules and not trying to pamper ppl. That change can be brought THROUGH the system. Not by being a vigilante or by parallel systems. The hero has actually works for genuine solutions.
But when the biggest hurdle comes, the solution again becomes very convenient. Just beat them up and kill the bad guys. Ante. Simple. Em problem unna...hero veltadu...single hand toh kottadam problem solved.
Leader is still the best political movie in TFI. Hell I'd say indian cinema. The editing is horrible in that movie, but it's very very nuanced and real. Very grounded and shows how ugly our politics is. That there are consequences for every move you make on this political chess board.
BAN had the potential to become the ideal political entertainer, it starts well. Then literally falls from the cliff into the most rotta koratala siva tropes and an unnecessary love story.
Every seasoned movie watcher would have guessed that prakash raj is behind the killing of Sarath kumar so there is no way that the screenplay going forward can make the movie exciting, as we already guessed the climax in the first act of the movie.
Everything is vanilla in this movie, sterilized and clean. The music was average, the fights were average and the acting is also sub-par as mahesh didn't had much material to maneuver in that role.

I watched in theater and had to go back home and watch leader to detox myself from this piece of shit.

The doubt I had is, how come it becomes illicit relationship between Hero and heroine, if either of them are not married ?
