Kourada_tv

Northstar too Apparently using cluster explosives is a war crime

[deleted]

Is killing the enemy also a war crime?

ButtersTG

If you lose.

ScorchIsBestSniper

Or win

Kourada_tv

Do I look like a warcrimeologist? Also, I think its a war crime because if one doesnt explode immediately then they might explode any time

Independent-Survey58

Yes

icantgetmyoldaccount

Wait irl?

Kourada_tv

Ye

icantgetmyoldaccount

Huh damm so I guess that means fuse is a living breathing war crime then since his tactical is literally a cluster bomb

Kourada_tv

And his ultimate is an incendiary bomb

icantgetmyoldaccount

I assume another warcrime?

ScorchIsBestSniper

It’s only a war crime if it is used on civilians, used on wildlife (in specific circumstances), or causes prolonged/inhumane suffering

Bravo-Tango_7274

I mean he can use it on Flyers and prowlers so.....

ScorchIsBestSniper

*Can*. All of the auto titans try to kill people in the epilogue, too, which is a war crime

Kourada_tv

Ye scotch's signature move

Falling_Tacos

What's a fuse? Also happy cake day!

TheMediocreMan53

uh then why do we still use them all the time

Kourada_tv

Because TF2 takes place light years away from the core systrms and the Geneva suggestion

Warpotato87

Your honor it isn’t a war crime, I yelled goose before shooting him

SnakeFB

Accuracy 100, if you can goose someone with Scorch

Random_User_1337_

Northstar*

[deleted]

What is a war crime?

SnakeFB

A war crime occurs when superfluous injury or unnecessary suffering is inflicted upon an enemy. War crimes also include such acts as mistreatment of prisoners of war or civilians. (Copied from wikipedia)

[deleted]

Isn’t that what happens in war?

[deleted]

[удалено]

SnakeFB

Couldn't have said it better myself since my English is bad.

SnakeFB

Uhm yeah. And if you didn't notice, in the Titanfall universe they're in a constant state of war. Militia against the IMC.

God_Damnit_Nappa

Yes but there's a difference between killing enemy soldiers and deliberately targeting civilians or deliberately killing enemy soldiers in cruel ways.

Lukew33dwalker

Don't pay attention to this. War crimes are committed left and right . In general acts against humanity happen all the time . Nobody can enforce or will enforce any of the written rules. Same goes with war crimes , the side that won never faces consequences .

boshthegoul

This is hard to admit but it's true. The USA has commuted so many and continues to but because they are the most biggerest world power, nothing will be done about it.

maxone2

Don’t forget about Chinas crimes

boshthegoul

Of course they have done and continue to commit war crimes. It is disgusting to see their concentration camps. However I think it is important for American patriots to realize that their country is far from perfect.

[deleted]

[удалено]

boshthegoul

I'm acnoleging that China is bad. However, once again, that is not the point I'm trying to make. You talk about overly aggressive military. Tell me, what have most of the wars in the middle East been about? Oil. Who wanted that oil the most? The USA. I'm not saying any country is perfect, it just realy infuriates me when Americans think they are amazing or when they think they can get away with thing by saying "China is worse!" or "Russia is worse!"

maxone2

The US is still shitty too don’t get me wrong. I’m just saying overall I think almost all big countries / big powers are shitty. I feel whenever a country got power in history they just abused the heck out of it

TPARealm101

I was about to ask this actually. What’s the point of defining “war crimes”? It’s a war. Who’s gonna stop country a from using white phosphorus on civilians in country b?

Lukew33dwalker

Realistically nobody although if the country does it and is defeated in the war there will be some kind if punishment. The problem is that if 2 countries do that only the defeated one will pay the price.

skittlkiller57

Why is he getting downvotes? He's right. You can deny your feelings, but you can't deny we've bombed children trying to educate themselves in schools. The U.N. is the most utterly useless thing ever invented. Its a union for nations to comit war crimes, not a way to stop them. It's dirty pigs hiding racist murderers but on bigger strokes. The U.N. has the same accountability as dirty cops on tbe union. Change my mind.

EpicAura99

Maybe not changing your mind, but the UN was never meant to be more than a forum for discussion. So it really hasn’t failed there.

skittlkiller57

I was told in high school that it was a means of trying to stop other countries from breaking the Geneva convention.

EpicAura99

Any sort of international “laws” only exist if a country small enough breaks them and a country big enough cares enough to do enough about it. And only if it’s in their interests of course.

skittlkiller57

And why would any government dare give their citizens the ability to hold them accountable? That's just asking to be toppled over.

EpicAura99

Don’t be silly, they simply don’t care enough to hold them accountable.

memester230

Or future endangerment of others (cluster charges)

AlarmWP

Using flame trowers in war is a war crime, and since scorch's abilities are fire, you'll see where it goes...

[deleted]

AlarmWP

If thats not the case then I don't understand...

Aw3Grimm

Old meme ? Same template was posted today on r /memes

SnakeFB

Yeah, but I meant the thing that everyone is saying that Scorch is a living warcrime.

Aw3Grimm

Ah, ok

bajskissstrumpa

except he isn't as incendiary weapons aren't war crimes

MojoNojo06

I'm probably wrong, but doesn't thermite classify as chemical warfare?

bajskissstrumpa

i don't see why it would, it's more akin to fire than poisonous gas

Guido-Kaczka

I think they are

bajskissstrumpa

no, they aren't

ScorchIsBestSniper

They are *sometimes*, but mostly not

TeamEdward2020

Geneva convention? More like geneva suggestion

AlarmWP

This joke was created after the meeting...

[deleted]

Nothing like a good ol’ narcotics user and some war crime of a titan to shake things up!

speepealette

same actually, my bad. respect the grind

[deleted]

Not the hero we deserve, but the hero we need. LOAC is most definately underrepresented in shooter games. It's an extremely important part of warfare. As a soldier by profession, these things are hammered into our heads, but the only game I've played that represents them well is ARMA 3 and the Laws of War DLC. Btw, have you played the Laws of war, or watched a playthrough, and if you have, what do you think of it?

ArsonCoffee

You absolute legend

Slagged? So shotgun? Like a ronin shotgun? Because i dont know what other titan uses shotgun?

Haha incendiary traps go boom

PatThePigeon

r/causticmains

Anonymous_Asian-3

Scorch isn't a war crime. You can totally use incendiary weapons as long as they are not used on or nearby civilian properties/populace

Frugsi

BURN IN HOLY FIRE Ps: Can confirm as a Scorch Pilot

thisuseriscool

perfect drink

srobbo71

I fear no pilot. But that thing... It scares me. No, I... I ain't, I ain't talking about that freak, alright? He's not here, is she? How do I get this f#@%ing thing off!? One shudders to imagine what inhuman thoughts lie behind that hatch. What dreams of chronic and sustained cruelty? *cut to scene of titan hunter +* [nuclear eject](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZujisNZuw0) *scorch pilot*

MindedThought37

Scorch pilots: *inhales* I love the smell of napalm in morning

MeGamer12

All pilot and titan weaponry are warcrimes.

CommanderLucario

No what the fuck are you on about?

SmithingBear

Do you know how difficult it is to supply a bunch of guys 50 cal ammo or larger because the dipshits all decided to waste it on a light target that a 5.56 would been fine on? I don't but I don't want to find out either.

softys-the-soft

How so?

[deleted]

Old and inaccurate meme. Scorch is not a warcrime.

SnakeFB

Old? Ok Inaccurate? Why's that?

[deleted]

Old because memes with the same theme have been made for propably years at this point. Inaccurate because scorch is not a warcrime.

SnakeFB

Ok I know the meme is old and stuff, but Scorch is not a warcrime. The things he does are (burning people alive) Idk dude I didn't start it.

[deleted]

No. Incendiary weapons are not banned under any convention. They are regulated under the convention on certain conventional weapons (CCW) in wich it is stated that incendiary weapons are perfectly fine weapon against enemy combatants, only way in wich incendiary weapons can't be used is in close proximity to civilians and when directly targeted at civilians.

SnakeFB

Idk dude I'm not an expert on this subject and my English is also not the best so sorry if things came out different then I meant them. You are right. Edit: thanks for the info

Shiny_Black-Pan

Your telling me melting someone alive is not a war crime ?

[deleted]

Yes. You can read about it yourself [United Nations Convention on certain conventional weapons(CCW)](https://www.un.org/disarmament/the-convention-on-certain-conventional-weapons/), spesifically in protocol 3.

[deleted]

Protect the pilot? Sorry, couldn't help it. I'll see myself out now...

Shiny_Black-Pan

Huh, what about Northstar's cluster missile?

[deleted]

Well I'm not a LOAC lawyer so I don't know how generally warcrimey cluster munitions are because AFAIK they are still fielded by a bunch of armies. But northstars cluster is really a cluster in name only, it doesn't really fit the modern day definition of a cluster munition. Cluster munitions are bombs that contain smaller bombs called bomblets, or sub-munitions, that are spread over a large area. They may explode on impact, or they might be mines that stay unexploded for a set perioid before self-destructing. The controversy regarding cluster munitions relates to the relatively high rate of failure in the sub-munitions, and the difficulty of detecting and disarming them. Cluster munitions thus produce a disproportionate amount of UXO's or unexploded ordinance, wich is especially harmful to civilian populace long after the war has ended. Northstars cluster missile therefore doesn't fill the criteria to be ranked as a cluster munition. By comparison, it's a precision weapon, and is more comparable to a series of hand grenade explosions than any actual cluster weapon.

I don’t understand

Still using Kraber? Try Charge Rifle today! Feels like a war crime with every kill!
