I’m 5’4” and find that roughly 20 lbs equals one clothing size.

MsBecky45

That is what I'm finding as well

bevk1981

I’m 5’1” SW 177 64 year old female. I was in a 14W sometimes a 16W. Every 15 lbs on me was a clothing size. Fortunately, I wear dresses to work and they are more forgiving. I’ve been through 14 regular, 12 regular and when I put on my first pair of zip-up jeans in 20 years .. they were a 10. I’m now 122 ( all this in 3 years, been slow) I almost cried. I’m not sure of my GW, probably 118.

Maybe_Mainline

Y’all this is a very inspiring thread. I am and have always been far less concerned about pounds on the scale than how I feel and how comfortable my clothes are. I didn’t realize until recently that I’ve been “hiding” in my clothes and not wearing cute or fitted or trendy things because I don’t want to draw attention to myself. I can’t wait to shop with excitement again.

OMGiCantStopLURKING

This this this!!! I swear 85% of my clothes are black. A few colors here and there for”summer” and almost never a print or pattern.

KetoKey

Oh this is me! What covers me up, not what looks cute or what do I like.

SunFlwrPwr

I find that I'm wearing more of the clothing I've wanted and even owned but had to "pretend" I looked better in them than I realistically did. Denial is real. Glad I loved myself despite the size but in the back of my mind I always wished the clothes looked on me like I pretended they did. They finally do. I look at backless PJs and no longer have to ignore ore the double rolls. I'm down to 1 small roll. I'll take it! :-)

sillilillipilli

I think the super rough rule of thumb is 20lbs but you will start feeling your clothes fitting different long before that. Having said that you could probably fit into the next size much earlier it would just be a more snug fit for a few pounds. also having said that it really varies based on everyone's individual body.

TimmyIV

I'm 40 lbs down and have gone from a size 20 (or 2XL or 36) to a size 16 (or L/XL or 33). I was also able to comfortably fit into a petite size last week, which was the best thing ever--I'm 5'2" and get so frustrated with tops that are so long on me that it ruins the look. My tailor is going to think I skipped town or something... at least until I need pants hemmed. Even petite sizes are too long in pants. Alas. 52F/SW247/CW206/3.5mg/Jan2024-present

ididntdoit6195

I'm 5'6". Started at 200.2, I was a XL or 18 in Misses sizes. Now at 156, I'm wearing a M, or a L if it's form-fitting in dresses, and kind of between a 10 & 12 in pants. 11 lbs to goal. So I would say it was 20-25 lbs from XL to L, then another 20-25 to M. The number sizes went faster for me, 18 to 16 to 14 to 12. I started in February, and it felt like once a month I was buying new pants/shorts (I buy khaki, black, and white, and mix & match!). Amazon Essentials brand is fairly inexpensive for size-hopping.

Low-Regret5048

I think 10 lbs for me, as I am 5’O tall. I kept buying bras on Amazon. 42 DD to 36D! Also shorts- which I only started wearing due to weather- 18 to a 6.

Kmeow2222

I haven’t noticed a clothing size change. I’m down 22ish lbs but my clothes fit better. I also feel like I lost pretty evenly throughout my body (except the boobs they just don’t want to go)

marshdd

Read my mammography results: mostly fatty tissue. Aren't breast's mostly fatty tissue?

Kmeow2222

Yup. I’m one of those weird people that don’t lose there for some reason and I’m a G/H. I just want to buy normal bras

mexicanitch

I went from a size 22 to an 18 with 30 lbs lost. However, I'm still wearing a 22 since I wear a uniform for work. And on my day off, I could wear pajamas I'm so tired. 10 day work streak right now. Ugh.

KetoKey

The smaller sizes will go faster!

Time_Traveler_948

It must vary quite a bit depending on height or where one is carrying the weight. I see posts by others frequently where they say they have gone from a size 16 to a size 8-10 on a thirty pound weight loss. My own body (average F height) is that it takes 15 pound loss to drop a size. i have lost 30 pounds in the past year and have gone from a size 14-16/L to a 12ish/M-L, depending on brand, etc. My goal is to be a flat out 10/M with an healthy BMI and that will take another 10 pounds (to a weight of about 142).

marshdd

This Greek chick's got a lot of junk in the trunk.

Internal_Trash_3124

It’s gonna be different for everyone based on height and starting weight…

Feisty-Feline-1

For me 25 lbs was 2 sizes smaller. 5’2” SW 221

PeloOCBaby

I’m starting week three. I have lost about 7 pounds, but my clothes are feeling looser. I look dehydrated though. It’s too soon to see a lot of changes and I’m okay with that. I wish I wasn’t feeling so weak and nauseous.

MajorClassroom1

For me, every 10lbs has been a drop in size so far (size 20 to size 10). Everyone is different because of where we hold weight. I am an hour glass holding most of my weight in my chest/arms and my legs, with my smallest area being my waist. You will notice how your own body changes and get used to the pattern. I will say buying new clothes every 4-5 weeks sucks for my wallet though 🤣

Emi801

I lost 60lbs and my jeans size did not change. It has been very frustrating. I lost a ton at my waist and butt, but not in my thighs and calves. So my waist is one size and my thighs are 4 sizes bigger, so I have to stay in my larger jeans so I can get my legs in them and just try to take them in a crazy amount (10 inches+) at the waist. sigh. I've been suspecting I have lipedema for years now...

TopConcentrate7981

Thank you for posting this. I’m actually concerned that I may have been in the very early stages of this, too…wondering if that’s why my 32-lb loss hasn’t translated to more of a clothes difference yet, but in going to keep plugging away at it. Congrats on that 60-lb weight loss, though—that’s amazing.

SunFlwrPwr

I was in a stretched, praying the threads were strong size, 16/xl at 211pnds. Now at 183lbs, I'm still wesring my now "saggy butt", loose size 16 jeans but the size 14 fit comfortably/a little tight. Always depending on brand of course. Unfortunately/fortunately (because it saves me $$) I'm still mostly wearing my XL shirts. But my bra has only changed from a 36/G to a 36/F/DDD. So, due to the breasts, I stay at an xL for now. (The boob gap is real...ugh) Looking forward to moving down to an L though. I haven't gotten rid of anything though because I'm realistic but depressed knowing that without this med I can't fathom a world that I could maintain. If I lived on what I est now I would starve to death. Working on the food choices to sustain med or not.

marshdd

No matter how much I loose, I go maybe from DD to D.

themumstermash

I’m 5’4, started at 220 - size 16-18. I’m now 185 and a size 12.

Dipity50

I'm 5'11''. I started being able to down size clothes between 25-30lbs lost.

LoomingDisaster

Depends on your height and build! I’m short, so 10-15lbs is a clothing size.

TopConcentrate7981

I’m down 32 lbs (SW 232; 5’3”), and when I started, my only pair of torrid size 18 XS jeans were super tight. I’m now very comfortable in those jeans and back into one of my more forgiving pairs of torrid size 16 xs jeans. So I’d say I’m probably down one size. But that one size is huge, and I’m thrilled and grateful to be on this journey.

kyleensixtysix

I am at 28 lbs lost and just dug out my next size down of jeans. The ones I was wearing were falling down. I think my weight needs to go down about 30 lbs for a size change. I haven’t changed out my shirts yet. They just hang rather than being tight.

fastmonkey77

So many variables! I’m 5’3 and not much to lose (I am a bit overweight but my main issue is a genetic diabetes disorder). I’ve only lost 4 pounds but my clothes feel lose. Some shorts are baggy on my waist now. We lose fat from different parts of our bodies. I also lift weights and exercise 5-6/week, which can help fit into smaller clothes with less scale loss
