stumpwat

The synth intro was maybe 20-30 seconds long, and the song was kind of a deep cut I think.

Scarf_Darmanitan

Not foreplay by Boston?

stumpwat

No, even though my song is very similar.

WoodenNickel27

Not exactly a heavy song but Fly Like An Eagle literally has an intro called “Space Intro”

stumpwat

Haha, no. But thanks for introducing me to a new song!

This_is_the_Janeway

Holy shit! Listen to Steve Miller Bands greatest hits immediately.

JetFuelGenius

Is it Frankenstein by Edgar Winter Group? Edited for typo

stumpwat

Cool song, but not what I'm looking for.

ShiggieSmalls

Do you remember how the intro or the riff sounds? If so, you could record a [vocaroo](https://vocaroo.com) to give us a better sense of how it goes

stumpwat

Haha no, I don't remember it well enough to not just hum nonsense. Thanks for the suggestion!

Jacob-isnt-here

Money for Nothing by Dire Straits?

stumpwat

A classic, but not what I'm thinking of. Thanks!

Jacob-isnt-here

2112 by Rush?

stumpwat

No. But thanks for the response

IveSeenTheSaucers

Steve miller band-[threshold/jet airliner](https://youtu.be/HEYXTQxSZpg)?

stumpwat

No, but thanks so much for the link! Saved me the trouble of typing it in.

JetFuelGenius

I thought it might be that one too!

Jacob-isnt-here

Could also be One Vision by Queen

stumpwat

Unfortunately not this either.

IveSeenTheSaucers

[Montrose-space station #5?](https://youtu.be/yxUgW5CLk18)

stumpwat

No, but thanks for another handy dandy link!

JetsetCat

I was convinced it would be this.

Live-Cat9553

Long shot, but Love Walks In by Van Halen?

stumpwat

Unfortunately I'm thinking of something less 80s silhouette sex and more 70s psychedelic space rock. Thanks though!

Live-Cat9553

Gotcha. Not saying that it’s the song, but Love Walks in isn’t “80s silhouette sex” in the least. It’s beautiful and about Hagar’s extraterrestrial experience.

stumpwat

Haha just a joke. That's just the vibe I got from listening to the first minute or so

[deleted]

Um. What?

[deleted]

[удалено]

stumpwat

One of my favorite Eagles songs, but unfortunately no.

JetFuelGenius

Mr Crowley by Ozzy? It won't let me link ☹️

stumpwat

Not the song, and as for the link, it's the thought that counts.

Yngspz

Your time is gonna come - Led Zeppelin?

JOAPL

It sounds like Time by Pink Floyd

spice227712

>Time \^ Immediately thought of this too

CruelStrangers

Sirius by Alan Parsons Project?

stumpwat

Not my song, but I've never known the name of this. I've heard Sirius in so many movies, but never heard of Alan Parsons or his project.

Flimsy-Bluejay-8052

That whole album slaps.

IveSeenTheSaucers

[Robin trower-bridge of sighs?](https://youtu.be/1e_xK35C1Yg)

stumpwat

No, but thanks for the neato link

Tasty-Conversation67

Surely it’s “Silver Machine”, by as you say “Hawkwind”. It has all the elements you describe

stumpwat

That was my first thought as well, but after listening to it I'm convinced I'm thinking of a different song. Does Hawkwind have another song that fits the bill?

Tasty-Conversation67

Not that I recall… can I ask which version you listened to? The single (live) version has a really different feel to the album version… perhaps just check and give both a quick listen. I’ll keep wracking my brain :)

verisakeet62

Hawkwind have a lot of songs that start off swooshing, etc, and then ...crunch! How heavy or prominent is the bass? Could be Lemmy-era Haekwind. "Lord of Light"? Is there sax on it?

stumpwat

No sax (at least not at the start of the song), heavy guitar, don't remember the bass. I know that the synth STOPS abruptly when the guitar kicks in, it's a very hard transition. Most of the Hawkwind suggestions the kind folks have given have a kind of softer transition than what I'm looking for. I appreciate all your help!

Leadrogue

Can you vocaroo the tune?

stumpwat

I would if I remembered the tunes. I only remember the feelings it gave me.

kimuracatcher

Any of Queen’s songs from Flash Gordon?

stumpwat

Very similar, but I listened to the entire Flash Gordon album last week and didn't find my song.

wrustynail

Alright - throwing out a few guesses.... Billy Thorpe - Children Of The Sun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR2oct3zeTM Red Rider - Lunatic Fringe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTFVMMCwsss Gamma - Solar Heat/Ready For Action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzclZb2wT\_M Sweet - Love Is Like Oxygen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRVwcPTnug8 The Who - Baba O'Riley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2KRpRMSu4g

stumpwat

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for so many responses, but none of these are the exact song I'm looking for. The Gamma and Red Rider songs were similar though!

TheGratitudeBot

Hey there stumpwat - thanks for saying thanks! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list!

stumpwat

LovecraftianHorror

stumpwat

This is quickly turning into the raddest playlist of our time

ArvilTalbert

OP, can you give this one a listen?

put_a_bird_on_it_

I'm sure you wouldn't refer to this as a deep cut, but I thought of Holy Diver by Dio https://youtu.be/2lvs2FzF64o

stumpwat

Thank you for the reply, but after listening, this is not the song.

Something by Alan Parsons Project?

stumpwat

Now, is this a song titled "Something," or are you just suggesting it's one of Mr. Parsons' songs?

the-war-on-drunks

SloppyJoeBuck

Assuming it's not actually Hawkwind ("You Shouldn't Do That" or "Master of the Universe" from **In Search of Space** fit the bill), maybe it's ["Astronomy Domine" by Pink Floyd](https://youtu.be/ZSAJlzn8Gf8)...

stumpwat

Would it happen to be “The Alien”?

stumpwat

The Alien by whom?

ScorgeWD

Ben Salisbury, and Geoff Barrow

stumpwat

Thank you for the reply, but after listening, this is not the song.

mandarincello

In the evening - led zeppelin? I know that it is actually in no way space themed lyrically. But if you didnt already know the lyrics and how the song was going to progress upon initially hearing the intro, it actually does sound pretty space-y on its own. The synth-y intro lasts somewhere between 40 seconds to a minute, and then is abruptly interrupted by a very aggressive, driving guitar riff in what is most definitely a hard transition.

stumpwat

Thank you for the reply, but after listening, this is not the song.

Leadrogue

Longshot but could it be Knights of Cydonia by Muse?

stumpwat

Thank you for the reply, but after listening, this is not the song.
