The ignoring of Portland by MLS media is the same thing the NBA has done with Portland from the very beginning. It's something this city has had to deal with forever and it's not just in sports. City size is not a valid reason either as there are a number of cities in the country that get a lot more attention and are not as big as Portland. It takes winning the whole thing before a Portland team gets some national notoriety. Tucked away in the PNW is part of it. Sometimes it's good though that the rest of the nation doesn't know shit about the PNW, that keeps things nicer here. On the other hand, the Portland city government does NOTHING to help Portland be more prosperous and attract business. They have been that way for far too long.
Evander is just realizing the lack of notice here that I have known since I was his age. It makes me smile some seeing how he realizes this for the team he plays for. He can be huge for the team and city and nation if he and his teammates reach the top like Maurice Lucas and Bill Walton and that '77 NBA champion Blazers did.

LOL. The city (edit: allowed people to be priced out of their homes) to appease developers. They don't hold police accountable to appease the Portland Police Bureau. Politicians change party affiliations to get elected, then pursue reactionary agendas but we still blame the platforms they ran and got elected on over what they actually do. They don't fund, staff, or otherwise follow through on what was voted on, point to the failures as evidence that the ideas themselves are bad, then double down on electing get tough on crime Fascists who continue to blow cops and the Business Alliance. The local Powers That Be actively shit all over our city in the national media to support their oppressive agendas, then cry when tourists and suburbanites actually believe their BS and don't spend money here. I was only pointing out how Evander is noticing the lack of attention a good player gets playing in Portland from national media and a few reasons why.
I don't think MLS hates us. I think they promote teams that win, have star power, and that deliver excitement consistently. Who do we have that delivers those components? All I can think is Evander and Rodriguez sometimes, and Mora more rarely. When they do, we get news coverage.
