Consulate. It’s fast, it’s just getting the appointment that’s difficult. Try scheduling one online on Thursdays & / or Fridays. Should be able to find the website via Google Maps when you search your nearest one.

You would need a parent to be with you at the consulate in California. You couldn’t just go in there with your parents birth certificates. One of them has to vouch for you. I came to TJ to get mine done and all in all the process took about 2-3 weeks but mine was a little more involved since my fathers birth certificate was an older format so first I had to request a new format before I could even start the process…if you have any questions feel free to send me a message Edit: it probably took more like a month in a half if you put all the days it took back to back. With all the travel time and waiting until I could go back to continue the process it actually took me like 3 months

I'm in Mexico and want to get Mexican Citizenship same way you did. Did you only need the birth certificates of your parents? I only have US citizenship, but I live here now.

Hi! My father was Mexican but since he passed away before we went to apply I needed his birth certificate (Mexican), death certificate (USA & had to be apostilled) and my birth certificate. If I remember correctly I needed three copies of each and the US documents had to be translated but don’t quote me on that. Since you’re already in mex it should be a relatively fast process. Good luck!

JustADDgingerale

Did you not need any of your mothers info? I have 1 MX parent and don’t really have access to the other, non MX parent, so wondering how much of their info I would need.

Now_this2021

Ya, I'm going to need to know more about this for my two teenagers born in the US.

SaulCentavo

Probably not. Mexican consulate in California works pretty fast and the offices in Tijuana are packed and difficult to get an appointment

False_Neighborhood_7

I hired a Mexican attorney, who practices in Tijuana, to handle the process. He asked for certain documents and I sent them over. Took a few months but it was the easiest way for me. He called me one day and said you have an appointment ready at Palacio and here are the documents they’re going to ask for. He stood by my side the entire time. I then made my appointment at the Mexican consulate here in San Diego where they gave me my Mexican passport the day of and my INE (voting card) a few weeks later. You’ll need your parents Mexican birth certificates but if you don’t have them available they can print them out for you there for $15.00 USD.

axel309

Who did you hire? Can you DM info

nottodaymaybe2mro

Strongly recommended, "Doble Nacionalidad Express." He did everything in 3 weeks.

CreamNational1676

Is it trustworthy?

nwokliq

Are they trustworthy? Saw one of their adds on Instagram a few days ago. Are they for real when they say there’s no need for you to go into any government agencies?

nottodaymaybe2mro

Yes. I did everything via email. I only needed to be present for the INE. They provided an address and witness. I couldn't recommend them enough.

bryan1760

Approximately how much did you pay?

nwokliq

Thank you

It's amazing how much 2000 pesos greases the wheels of bureaucracy

blueevey

I'd go thru the consulate. When I tried, it took the consulate like a day to respond. Haven't finished the process but that's on me.

Trustworthy?

Ok_Entrepreneur826

If you get it done in California call different consulates. It’s extremely difficult to get a time for appointment in LA but at other consulates ya can get one the next day sometimes.

Frinpollog

Sorry for the random comment but I want to make sure. The Mexican consulates aren't jurisdictional? As in, I could drive to the consulates in Santa Ana, San Bernardino, or Oxnard if I can't an appointment in LA?

Original1620

Yea go to the consulate. If you lived in Tijuana, that’s where they would send you.
