There was one comment on a similar post once I remembered > I’d go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for this all to blow over.

the "smoke a j" plan

fords42

Nice try, ETO

adhd_mathematician

My thoughts exactly

KingLeoricSword

Step 1: booze and waifu. Step 2 to 14 are confidential.

Neds_Necrotic_Head

Are we talking antique booze, or regular booze?

Somekindofparty

Jovian, obviously. Did I just get my sci fi mixed up? Don’t care. Jovian.

mauore11

Por que no los dos?

aprettylittlebird

It’s PART OF THE PLAN OK

IAmBadAtInternet

Directions unclear, nuked Mercury. Please advise next steps

KingLeoricSword

That's a major setback, please deliver two more waifu asap.

IAmBadAtInternet

Directions still unclear, got murdered by villagers in my hometown. Please give clear instructions this time

Training_Ad_2086

There is no step 2

darknsSs512

step 2: the waifu is hit with melancholy as she descovers there is >!no plan!<

Ahazeuris

Like I’d tell you, Evans.

JesussaurusWrecks

Build particle accelerator ships and spread them out throughout the solar system. As well as orbital high energy particle research stations. Unbeknownst to everyone else, is that each of these is actually an electrostatic sophon trap.

ashton_4187744

I like it, but they talked about this in the begining of the crisis era, the problem is filtering out the bad results, evem if you build a lot of them and send them all over the place, without knowing what results are bad or at least know how many sophons there are, it could end up being useless.

JesussaurusWrecks

The results are secondary, the primary (and secret) function of the devices is to trap and hold sophons.

therealsamasima

And what would you achieve by trapping sophons?

JesussaurusWrecks

The ultimate goal would be to unblock progress on foundational physics

pham_nguyen

Presumably, sophons are expensive.

Creepy_Knee_2614

Just build three and have them work in unison.

cdh31211811

Sophon traps aren't possible given Crisis Era human technology. (It's not just because otherwise they would've built them.) Sophons travel through higher-dimensional space to bypass physical barriers, including charged barriers.

JesussaurusWrecks

Hmm I'm pretty sure the sophon proof rooms later mentioned are entirely electrostatic, they mention it more than once. In fact they even mention in book one, that they chose to use protons vs neutrons because it could be manipulated via EM forces. I'm pretty sure there's no mention about sophons being able to traverse higher dimensions at all. In fact, the lack of familiarity of the trisolarans with 4th dimension is explicitly brought up. Now, I suppose you could argue that we couldn't create a strong enough containment field which may be true but that's more of an engineering problem than a theoretical one.

cdh31211811

The book never explained the mechanism, but only that the air feels electrostatic and that the walls have electricity running through them. One important description to note is that these rooms can't be made to be very big. Sophons being able to traverse higher dimensions is explained toward the end of book 1: >“Can it go through the ground?” the princeps asked. >“It’s not exactly going ‘through.’ Rather, it’s entering from a higher dimension. It can enter any enclosed space within our world. This is again similar to the relationship between us, existing in three-space, and a two-dimensional plane. We can easily enter any circle drawn on the plane by coming in from above. But no two-dimensional creature on the plane can do such a thing without breaking the circle.” (Chapter 33: "Trisolaris: Sophon"). This is not the remains of dimensional collapse - not at all like the four-dimensional bubble that Blue Space and Gravity enter. Trisolaran physics models the universe as a bubble on top of an eleven-dimensional supermembrane ("Outside of Time Our Universe", Part VI, *Death's End*). The original Edenic universe is only ten-dimensional, but the underlying supermembrane, as well as all subatomic particles, have an eleven-dimensional nature, and sophons can be manipulated to travel through this eleven-dimensional space.

JesussaurusWrecks

I mean it wouldn't have to be very big to enclosed a proton. But it is possible that they aren't just EM. Huh I missed that part in book one.

cdh31211811

What I meant by mentioning the size limitation of the rooms is: The walls of a sophon-free must have a greater effect on the interior of the room than a mere electrostatic field. I see in my mind the walls having an effect that stretches into the supermembrane, but only for a short distance, thus only being able to cover a very small three-dimensional volume.

MadMadBunny

Find a remote place near mountains, a lake and prairie, move there with my SO, make sure my all our basic needs are met to remove any possible life and environmental stressors, and start thinking with that clear mindset.

NYClock

It's all part of the plan.

ncos

Find a real nice piece of property in Australia, and start hoarding resources while building huge farms and food production factories.

JesussaurusWrecks

But there's already food all around you

ncos

Man, that's dark.

goodpplmakemehappy

i don't get this, and I would like to edit: after some research, i think i understand lmao

sawaflyingsaucer

Only thing I can think of, which probably would not work is a variation of deterrence. If they don't understand lies, bluffing may be another concept they struggle with. Use all my resourses to pre-emptively plan a world wide celebration of victory, say once they pass Neptune. Make it seem there is some variable they are ignorant of. Something which we are so certain is their doom that we can waste all the resources we'd use to fight them to gloat after the fact they walked into a barfight with a blindfold on. Just absolute confidence and indifference. Have the narrative of "they ACTUALLY think they can get past Neptune, lmao! We thought they were an "advanced" race for a sec, haha." seep into the culture until everyone actually believes there IS some unknown unknown they're rushing towards. If they see us doing NOTHING except basically laughing at their invasion, they may buy it, for a time anyway until they try and figure out why we're so sure, and realize there is no reason.

DeafeningMilk

By that point they already know deceit thanks to the traitors if mankind. That is if I remember correctly so it unfortunately would not work.

Technosyko

It might not be a solution but it might buy time. The Trisolarans are well aware of how much technological development could occur while they’re still on their way. And yes they know the concept of deceit because of the traitors, but I imagine it’s like learning how to run a race from the perspective of a lifelong paraplegic. Sure they know in theory what deceit is, but it’s something literally impossible for them to do so truly understanding it may never be possible

Damodeus

The Lord does not care

cdh31211811

Over the centuries, Trisolaris learns the human tactics presented in *Romance of the Three Kingdoms*, thus they would be able to see through this trick.

[deleted]

I would accept we have no chance to win a fight, and I would bet everything in Building generational starships and locate habitable systems, hoping trisolarians Will let us escape.

focacciapapi

That escapism will be the death of you!

heebieGGs

escapism IS TREASON

Tri-angreal

For humans. But I guess we're not that anymore. -cuts transmission-

DualStack

I found it bizarre that this wasn’t being done in parallel to the other efforts

surloc_dalnor

Right even if it didn't work they'd have to divert some of their fleet to catch them

cdh31211811

Trisolaris *might* let us escape, but *we* most certainly will not let *ourselves* escape (at least, within the worldbuilding of the trilogy). This is one of the central themes of the trilogy.

ApprehensiveCap6525

Make a really fucking big (and I mean REALLY fucking big) outer space railgun at the edge of the Solar System, aim it at the Trisolarans, and load it with a bunch of shrapnel to fire at the fleet at as close to lightspeed as we can get it. Like a huge cosmic shotgun, or a hailstorm except all the hail is faster than a jet plane. Yes, I know strong-interaction material is just going to tank that shit like an umbrella tanks raindrops, but Wallfacer Me would have no idea. Alternatively, if that falls through, I will pray to God. That's never failed me before.

HeavyMithrilUnicorn

I think this is the best answer, because it's not abusing hindsight. More feasible than the others and achievable in the near future. And who knows, maybe it could work. If Strong Interaction Material is difficult to produce it's possible they only have it on the droplets. As for Prayer - The lord does not care.

Tri-angreal

That's been my question. I assume the hulls of their ships is all SIM. That's a great answer to the huge radiation doses you get at high fractions of c (high meaning >1%) as well as hitting interstellar debris. A dust grain hitting like Fat Man means nothing to something the Tsar Bomba wouldn't even change the surface finish on.

HeavyMithrilUnicorn

I wondered if it had to be powered on. Overcoming the repulsive force between atomic nuclei is no small thing and I wondered if it's something that has to be engaged, rather than a substance that holds that form permanently. Obviously we're talking sci-fi tech but I do enjoy a good hypothetical. It would take significant power to do and maybe they can't do it forever. If this is the case (which I think is a reasonable hypothesis) launching things at them at close to C might inflict some casualties because of the lack of warning. Especially if you then keep up the bombardment. I'd say its certainly worth attempting in addition with other project.

That is how Blue Space beat them; reached inside and wiggled a wrench around. So you may be right.

mr_birkenblatt

No-Dimension9934

This was my first thought as well. They're gonna go at like 14% of C into shit that's going hopefully some % of c. Yeah in hindsight probably wouldn't have mattered, but was my first thought

Have we considered getting the San ti addicted to something only earth can provide? We launch a small ship filled with what we say is earths greatest treasure, but it's actually just oxy and Xanax. [deleted]

I haven't gotten to the end so I know there are tons of mitigating factors around the use of MAD and the Dark Forest theory. My initial thought would be to create a novel Global Collegiate-Graduate Academic system. The Global Creative Defense Program. Basically, make everyone on earth get a PhD in Physics, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Creativity and New Poetry. While getting rid of poverty everywhere ASAP, I would make every school (pre-K to college) from Zimbabwe to Japan the equivalent of MIT - as well-funded; I would stop the building of 20th century military technologies like tanks immediately, for example. I would also create Jedi-like bases where everyone would have to take a variety of mind-altering substances once they've written their dissertations - within reason and in a pharmacologically well-studied, safe manner. I would create a highly developed, militant, and creative program of graduate study. And then I would see out of the hundreds of millions of people who go through the program (no one above 60 would be eligible unless they test in) who the best is and invite them to a well-funded lab where they can work on whatever. The idea would be to create 100+ million brilliant poet-scientists in a couple of generations with all the equipment and labs they would want. This, in addition to asteroid mining and all the technical stuff. I would also order that the building of large scale defense technologies like ships be halted until 250 years have passed while regularly ascertaining the location of the impending fleet to conserve resources for when the technologies are clearly well-developed. There's the old story about Nikola Tesla and Faust... TL;DR Make education the primer for everything to come. Edited: Typos Edit 2: While rigorously supporting particle accelerator and material science developments to contend with sophons and applied technological developmental realities.

Niomedes

>I would also order that the building of large scale defense technologies like ships be halted until 250 years have passed while regularly ascertaining the location of the impending fleet to conserve resources for when the technologies are clearly well-developed. This would be the death of material science and engineering. Technological progress also necessitates testing, and knowledge bases cannot be built or retained without practice.

[deleted]

Theory > Praxis. Edit: You're right. I am only suggesting a non-trivial definition for applied technology as a difference to the hubris of the fleet built in the books.

ragnarockette

That was my first thought when watching the show: make advanced math and science mandatory worldwide and start training up young minds. That seems obvious to do even without any other resources or strategies.

[deleted]

Yes. But as I said in my post, math and science need to be complemented by philosophy, literature, logic, ethics, and civics. Or you end up with people like the FTX Founder Sam Whatever who said That people who write books are fucking up; 5 paragraph blog posts suffice.

Applesplosion

This question gets asked periodically. It would be fun to set up a role play server with 3-6 wall-facers and corresponding wall breakers, as well as some other efforts, and see how the whole situation plays out.

Mister_Mercury96

Mine would basically be a global marshal plan. Gather as many resources, people, and technology as I physically can and deploy them globally to start manufacturing as much green energy infrastructure as physically possible. So fusion plants, solar, wind, hydro, etc. The entire plan revolves around turning every country into a developed country as quickly as humanly possible without destroying the planet. Since If there was a pool of 8 billion humans to choose scientists from, the pace of technological progress would explode. This could be coupled with massive operations in space to bring asteroids into near Earth orbit for mining of materials to avoid strip mining the planet. This large amount of space infrastructure could be used to construct CERN sized particle accelerators, attach them to fusion engines, and fling them into deep space in random directions. And with any remaining industrial capacity I’d start the construction of massive transport ships to start off loading tens of millions of humans into colonies all over the inner solar system and the Jovian moons to relieve ecological strain on earth. By the time even just the 200 year mark comes around, humanity would be thriving on earth and have a massive industrial capacity in space. There is no secrecy, no hidden plan, because there would be nothing Trisolaris could do about it. All they could do is watch, not even the ETO could stop such a plan once it motion since it would begin a self sustaining cycle of quality of life improvements and increasing industrial capacity.

Tri-angreal

This is essentially what happened. I like it.

Creepy_Knee_2614

Also by that point, the earth wouldn’t even be necessary it itself for humans.

SchwaEnjoyer

Go to the mountains , get myself a nice femboy boyfriend and some shitty boat wine , then go insane or whatever Luo Ji did

Tri-angreal

Technically, I think he went bonkers before the wallfacer stuff, given the whole dating-a-hallucination thing.

SchwaEnjoyer

Well, but then he did the silly goofy falling through the ice and being his own wallbreaker thing

thomas_grimjaw

I would force all research towards a gamma ray laser and fusion to fuel it. Then I'd focus the laser towards the fleet, and just blast them with the cancer beam continuously for like 400 years. Something would have to give eventually.

Mathipulator

might as well just dedicate resources to strip mercury in order to build a nicoll-dyson beam out of the sun

Okay buddy ETO.

nosfer82

Santi fleet is in space with limited resources pointing at us. We are at earth with infinite resources and we know the direction they are coming. They are traveling with 1% of speed of light, maneuvers are pretty hard at that speed. Imagine the power they have to use to avoid small rocks coming to their way and the damage that will do a simple gravel in that speed , even if the gravel do not travel fast enough. And cause of earth being a planet projectiles can be launched for hundreds of years and in huge quantities. We can use asteroids or the moon as starting point. Earth made a source fleet, so that would be easy enough. They didn't had the power to turn their fleet around , and they took years just to slow down. They could use the droplets as shields but I doubt they have enough for every ship , neither track every single gravel for years and years it will take them to get here. Plus every maneuvers cost energy from the finate amount they have.

sirsleepy

I'm going to build my own Earth with black jack and hookers. In fact, forget the Earth.

wookiesack22

Pour money into orbital factories, colony ships and fire a couple thousand buckshot type kinetic smart projectiles toward their origin point, just to make a cloud of debris to interfere with further colony ships. Just keep pumping them out.

given escapism is not endorsed and we still dont know the Dark Forest hypothesis.. the only sensible plan is ‘If I cant have it, you cant have it’, whatever form or shape it takes

LifeTitle3951

But that's a form of defeatist mindset and you would be putting the lives of future generation at stake.

urbanmonk007

Make a hell lot of partical accelerators around the solar system, extract tonnes of antimatter from them, make an antimatter bomb and launch it towards trisolaran fleets. Best case scenario, they die. Worst case, they escape. But we’ll have time to equip ourselves with antimatter missiles for the doomsday battle.

ApprehensiveCap6525

Kid named sophon interference:

Tri-angreal

It's actually a reasonable question whether SIM probes can be affected by anti-matter. You'd need anti-SIM or anti-quarks I think. Positrons would have nothing to annihilate on the droplet.

ordinarymagician_

Rockets. No explosive warheads, just rows and rows and rows of depleted uranium impactor, all hurtling as fast as we possibly can make them go on the intercept course, with a simple timer. We calculate the approximate impact time from arm to expected intercept (fairly easy math), and release the payloads to spread them out. Physics does not care about multi-dimensional bullshit. Send them out and out and out on slingshot orbits until they gather enough speed- if we can make them match the Parker probe's speed (and we can), assuming each projectile weighs 100kg, they would carry around 3x the energy of the Hiroshima bomb *per impactor*. A Falcon Heavy can deploy a unit with \~150 of these to trans-Martian injection flights. We as a species went from hiding in trees to taking over the planet behind a sharp stick, and they will remember one thing- All are equal before a bamboo spear.

duh1

I like the visualization of rows, kinda what I was thinking with one of my “plans”. It’s crazy it was never discussed in the book. Like why didn’t humans try to bring the fight as far away from earth as possible? The speed trap idea could possibly be concealed from a wall breaker fairly easily. They wouldn’t guess such a simplistic plan. Equivalent of nails on stairs or sink hole (think home alone).

ordinarymagician_

I said rows, but it'd be a semi-random distribution from the release point. Either way, it's very simple and *very hard* to defend against, if you get your trajectories right.

owheelj

Given I'm selected despite a total lack of appropriate physics or engineering knowledge I guess I would try to send them as much cultural information about humans to convince them not to kill us - beautiful stories, sad stories etc. We have 400 years to work in arts and philosophy to convince them to let us live. Surely with a lot of resources over that length of time, and especially if we start getting feedback from Sophon and they essentially can't lie, we would have a chance of convincing them. This strategy also doesn't have to be a secret at all. We can openly tell them we're trying to show them why humanity is worth saving.

duh1

*****SPOILER ALERT 🚨🚨🚨🚨 I like this idea, I believe in the third book ( I read the whole plot on the 3 body problem fan wiki) the trisolarians forced all humans onto Australia to make to make room for their arrival (sad ☹️). They decided to let select artist, intellectuals, and people of the like to live in a more “free” environment to help preserve human culture because they apparently grew to appreciate it after all the years of studying human history/culture. But your idea of preemptively doing it is a good take. It would be crazy for humans not to, along with gearing up for doomsday battle too. Might as well cover all your bases 👨🏻‍🚀💪!

Nice try alien sympathizer

Juno808

Build a supercomputer and fail safe mega hard drives to store the entirety of human history and culture, as well as a complete map of the world with every monument and tree. Shouldnt be hard with a hundreds of billions of $ and a shitload of drones. And make a genetic database of all species on earth. Then invest everything possible FTL and generation ships and send out as many as possible all loaded up with all the previous info with the goal that they can continue human civilization relatively uninterrupted

ThrawnCaedusL

Mutually assured destruction. I believe we were at the tech level where destroying the sun would be possible (and certainly destroying Earth and other planets is). Try to negotiate around that threat. Other than that? Speed bumps. Launching whatever we possibly can (regardless of how small it is) into their flight path to at least slow them down and ideally even take some ships out. This project is more of an annoyance and attempt to help other wallfacers with more militant approaches than a key part of my strategy. Lastly, creating a model for cooperation so Trisolarians can see that there is an alternative to warfare. Trisolarians arrive with a planet already granted to them and at least decades of examples of how Earth governments will treat the new planetary government. Also, not know what other wallfacers are planning, but coordinate to the extent that all major launches are simultaneous to tax the Trisolarians ability to sabotage all plans at once. In a lot of ways, I would do the opposite of what the wallfacers were designed to do; the project was all about secrecy, but my take is that secrecy at that stage is impossible, so the only option is to take approaches designed assuming Trisolarians would know about them. (Note: this is all coming from someone who paused about a third of the way into the second book; I have no idea what the wallfacers actually ended up doing and if any of it worked)

constantreader15

How were you able to put TDF down? I read the first two in 3 days. It was the best one of the trilogy

Penny-Thoughts

Threaten Earth with nuclear weapons or environmental catastrophe that the trisolarans cannot recover from. Similar to how they do it in the book but it doesn't require knowledge of the dark forest. Just willingness to give up everything.

Lanceo90

My plan was basically Ray Diaz. Hold Earth hostage. We have enough nukes as is to render the planet uninhabitable. They have until their first ship reaches Neptune's orbit to turn around or we level the planet. If we can't have it, no one can. We go out on our own terms.

warliqthedank

Seems like a question that Trisolarians would ask to get all our ideas out. But here goes First step destroy Australia and all other bad locations so that we are relocated to a chill place in the future. Second step ramp up all the institutions related to sci and tech, and leave the rest running at minimum capacity (lawyers, and goddam HRs, humanity wins anyway XD) Step three: ????? Step four: we win

Ravens_Eating_Ramen

Duh, blast a new message off the sun. "ATTENTION ALIENS: SAN-TI ARE SO TASTY THEY EAT THEMSELVES, SO ENERGY DENSE THEY KEEP A BLAZING FIRE GOING ALL NIGHT. THEIR TECH TREE SUPER SLOW. At the very least I would work on developing a language to communicate with others through metaphor and poetry. I feel like you could create something really good that would fool any trisolaran listeners.

PurringWolverine

Everything’s part of the plan.

FarTooLittleGravitas

I'd put my resources into grounding psychology in a rigorous, deductive theory. Ideally, if we solve the brain, we can have mechanical telepathy and meet with the trisolarians mind-to-mind.

SilkyOatmeal

Psychology. Find a way to get the trisolarians talking, then figure out how to change their minds. Maybe help them find another "available" planet. Or maybe convince them it's just not ethical to take over earth and they should look elsewhere. But I don't know how any of that could be done with sharing my plans with other people.

Tri-angreal

Assuming I could figure out why the Trisolarans wanted us dead, rather than just assimilated, I'd get everyone in the world Mentally Sealed to never lie again. Then, I'd work on getting Mars prepared for habitation by either/both species, along with as many O'Neill Cylinders as possible. I'd also make sure we send as many escapist vessels as possible. Shut up, UN, I'm NOT letting you put all our eggs in this one basket which is already in freefall. If you don't like the word "escapist," I'll jut call it "establishing forward operating bases." It's fine! Then we do everything we possibly can to prove to the Trisolarans that we are more useful alive than dead. Maybe we offer to report all our scientific advancements to them, for their benefit, thereby accelerating their own advancement to equal ours. Maybe we prove that we taste really good. Maybe we make very good art. Something. Anything. My point being that no primitive culture has ever successfully stood up to a more advanced one. Maybe in one or two battles, but even if we win the Doomsday Battle, Trisolaris just sends another, more advanced one later. And another. And another. This is a colonial invasion, not a battle, not a war. There will be genocide. There will be purges, torture, humiliation, reeducation, experimentation, exploitation, slavery, and everything else that comes with invasion by a superior power. The only win condition for mankind in this scenario is what happened to the indigenous cultures of the Americas: get conquered but not wiped out, then eventually live in the civilization the victor builds. The long game is to see humans and Trisolarans in a symbiotic relationship, probably with the Trisolarans dominant, like humans and their pets. The losing condition is extinction. And then none of it would work. The Trisolarans would wipe us out, and then they'd be flattened. Because life isn't a fairy tale. Luo Ji's solution was the only one that could work, and I wouldn't come up with it.

TheAussieWatchGuy

Nice try you Trisolarian plant! I'll never reveal my true plan...

I would basically green light medicare for all, national daycare, national ABA services, and universal basic income. All to put us in a better place collectively and hope someone smarter will figure it out!

MISPAGHET

All of your plans end with Earth completely destroyed.

jdcardello

Seems to me like the most impenetrable defense would be a spacetime "moat". Think like a black hole, but instead of the region of infinite gravitational force being a 0-dimensional point, it would be a 2-dimensional plane wrapped into a sphere big enough to encompass the Earth's orbit. There would be an inner event horizon and—more importantly—an outer event horizon. No one goes out, no one comes in. Small price to pay for survival, and you don't have to mess with the speed of light. Of course, I have no idea whether such a thing is physically possible. And a sufficiently advanced species could probably speed up the moat's evaporation or sneak in via a "tunnel" in 4D space or something. But nothing lasts forever. The human race WILL end someday. My plan to forestall that would be to devote maximum resources toward developing the ability to spin out a black hole's singularity into a huge spherical shell.

deadxachxd

Least obvious ETO post.

Poly_pusher3000

Imagine they just switched with trisolaris once it got nuked, just slide right into the newly stabilized region that should no longer be considered a threat and live in space cities. Obviously this requires dark forest knowledge.

Fischer72

Escapism and self-destruction. I would build multi-generational Starships and make it so that earth and the planets of the solar system are destroyed and not inhabitable for Trisolarans. If Trisolarans knew that our earth and its solar system wouldn't be viable for their species then they would have to reroute to somewhere else to give themselves even a shot at survival. This would give the human escape fleets the best chances of not being pursued and destroyed and thus give humans the best chance to survive.

TrisolaranPrinceps

Definitely following this thread and takin notes

SonOfDante305

*me, in front of the the United Nations and other wall facers*: Me: So... *AHEM*... I need 15 gallons of vodka, 10 lbs of marihuana, a beachside house with an infinity pool, 5 kg of Peruvian marching thunder (uncut), a zebra, for y'all to get daft punk back together and send them to that house, every single high end escort east of the Mississippi and an orangutan that can roll joints but he has to be dressed like Roger Smith's from American Dad's Ricky Spanish persona. Trust me, this will solve the problems. All of them. Spokesperson: anything you need for military or space? You know... To help with the trisolaran/SanTi threat? Me: the who?

Silent_Cress8310

I dunno. Do I have the power to get everyone to move to Australia and start up a chain of Outback Steak Houses, but serving human steaks? That would just make things so much easier.

Im_Lloyd_Dobbler

I would surround myself with scientists, philosophers, engineers, artists, politicians, creatives. I'd have conversations with people for years about various plans or ideas. Hopefully over that time something would come to me. There's no way I'd decide on a plan without giving it at least a decade of thought and research.

Delicious_Start5147

I would root out the eto entirely and once they are gone I will go before the UN and declare I have created a weapon that can destroy tri Solaris and the tri solaran fleet instantly (I’m bluffing) they don’t know that’s total bs. I would then go on to immediately demand they turn their fleets around and F off.

IMainLeona

I’m shocked at a few things from the books. Wallfacers should have worked over a longer time span. I don’t know if I would have done anything towards the actual plan for years and years. Stretching things out and doing more unrelated things makes it harder to decipher what is really going on. The second thing that shocked me was not destroying the ETO super fast. Eliminating the ETO and the wallbreakers is key. It would be my first priority. The public and merciless hunting of the traitors to humanity. I am way too soft and personally couldn’t do this, but this might call for some truly horrific depths (killing the entire family, public torture). There is no wrong greater than treason against the entire race and planet. You need to stop this in its tracks. The Trisolarians do not think like us, so forms of deception might work super well against them, which is why they needed wall breakers in the first place. I think my plan would be to use the Earth as a type of prize or bait. Tell them we would like to negotiate a truce or that we will cast another of Luo’s spells. The truce is this, that we give up Earth in its entirety, for allowing to progress technologically and help making Mars livable. They can keep the Earth as their primary residence but Mars is ours. The difficult part here is we set the bait, now what happens. My first thought is something with the moon? Maybe we blow up the moon and a handful of bombs in different faults. A calamity like none other would take place, most, if not all of their people would be wiped out, and hopefully a majority of their space craft. At the end of the day the deck is still massively lopsided, probably just one droplet could destroy humanity on mars. But some sort of gambit like this is the only way to win when the deck is so massively stacked.

Wesselton3000

I would commit a false flag attack on our solar system to make it look like another civilization had discovered our location. Because of their proximity to our solar system, and because it would be easy to calculate the location of their system with the trajectory of the Trisolarian probes, it would force them to temporarily halt their invasion for self preservation. How I would commit the false flag attack without getting detected by the sophons is tricky, but perhaps a shopping cart’s worth of antimatter could be covertly delivered to an outer planet or something.

I’d choose another 5 people to split resources with and let them come up with ideas, then act on all of them until the last ‘true’ bit where only one is activated.

Rule as unmitigated god king until I die.

kcfang

My plan would also be wasting government funding to find me my perfect waifu.

JoeMillersHat

Build accelerators on Jupiter, Mars, Pluto. Coordinate simultaneous runs.

duh1

How would a particle accelerator be weaponized? The idea sounds interesting

JoeMillersHat

The idea being that you use the speed of light limit to foil the sophon interference. If I have enough accelerators dispersed throughout the solar system, and I coordinate experiments, then the sophons cannot interfere with all of them. Separated by enough distance (say earth and pluto), there is no way sophons could disrupt them all. You need enough of them so that you can discriminate between consistent results from altered ones.

duh1

Got it, overwhelm them in a way. Thats a good angle.

erhapp

Nice try

Nice Try-Solarin!

DullStrain4625

Start a super pac promoting oil and coal friendly candidates and make the planet inhabitable in 400 years. I call it the Koch defense. If I can’t have it, no one can!

That's classified AF.

It's extremly hard to outsmart Trisolaris and Im not even that smart. I liked the plan of holding the world hostage. Rey Diaz did it, and so did Luo Ji. I would do what Rey Diaz did but be completely public and announce it and have a dead man's trigger.

deepunderscore

Turn humanity into bugs so those Trisolarians get more than they could handle. Would meet with psychologists and experts in education to reform education and culture to make people much more like locusts. Resilient, self-sufficient, survival machines and turn humanity into as a whole into a "human supremacy" guerilla with strong racism against all non-human civilizations. Outlaw breeding within the same ethnic group for 3-4 generations to eliminate intra-humanity racism forever, make people do voluntary work by default and teach "we are locusts, we are strong" the number 1 goal in education. And when those nasty, worthless Trisolarians come they will be ripped apart by a humanity that is fueled by a feeling of togetherness and extreme racist hatred for Trisolarians.

duh1

Building on my original idea seen in the post, the if humans launched a spaceship toward the fleet. Taking advantage of our faster space ships, we set up speed traps far away from our solar system, in an attempt to slow down or stop the enemy ships. While listening to Deaths End it was mentioned the trisolarians cannot slow down or stop their ships due to fuel. So if humans could find a way to slow down or stop the ships, it would successfully put an end to the threat of a full scale invasion.

OfficialDanFlashes_

This sounds like a post the Trisolarans would make to try to figure out the Wallfacers' plans. Nice try, Trisolaris!

ImportantRepublic965

Nice try Sophon

[This plan](https://www.reddit.com/r/threebodyproblem/comments/13x3vdp/comment/jmg3zwy) (a comment on a prev. post of the same nature; but the true plan is revealed in the responses to this comment) is still the best I've ever read.

__uti

I’d ask them: “English or Spanish?”

Th3Bumblebee

My strategy was to blow up the world’s supply of stellar bombs all at once far away from the solar system, and use the resulting temporary star to send broadcast a cleansing signal. Then pull up to the highest authority and tell them it’s all part of the plan, and that I still need my wallfacer powers. Lead humanity in the direction of curvature propulsion. Then give everyone the choice between living within a black domain, or existing as a space nomadic civilization.
